RECIDIVA

Youre clever, dear.

You managed to slip in the idea I was dismissed for cause. You dont know, and I cant refute it, but there it is in the post. So I now think youre passive-aggressive.

Care. Care isnt required. Care doesnt exist. Care is a noun made from a verb.

Example. If you come to my office on the day before I leave for vacation, and have a cash crisis, I'll likely give you money to be rid of you and your problem. If you show up at my office with your kiddies and youre homeless, I'll put you in a motel and give you eating money. To get rid of you. Caring has nothing to do with it. I do it all the time.

Attempts mean squat. Tried doesnt count. Winners do, losers try.

Recidiva, you impress me as someone who's lean on experience and fat with self-righteousness. Go away, SHOOOOO!

I sincerely wish you (and others here) all the best in your continuing efforts.

Thank you. The hard parts are done. The rest is realizing what it takes to maintain good care daily.

No, I meant by "dismissal", me dismissing you.

But thank you for telling me what I mean. It does say a lot.

98.6 degrees F.

Before a man invented a thermometer, a woman could place her hand on a child and determine if the child's temperature was, 'normal'.

It has taken the entire history of mankind, to this very day, to determine the parameters that define a 'healthy human body'.

That is the 'normal' state of being, physical health, and we now, finally, understand what that means.

Mental health, psychological well being, also has a 'normal' state, as defined by JamesB, the average with a small percentage to either side, is the definition of a 'normal' state of human psychological/mental health.

Human physical health does not vary appreciably regardless of where on the planet humans live.

Human psychological health, while more tenuous and difficult to comprehend, also does not vary appreciably regardless of environment or surroundings.

The, 'rice' diet of many Asians in the past, that debilitated the entire population was not something to be adapted to or conformed to as a 'norm', rather one to be overcome as the requirements for human health were better understood. Even British sailors learned to take Limes on a long voyage to satisfy the requirements for a 'normal' diet.

This rush to adapt to abnormalities in psychological human health due to a lack of comprehension, as JamesB, points out, is tremendously destructive to the individual and to society at large.

Philosophically, it is Subjectivism that bears the fault and the blame.

Amicus...

Do you know why we have dictionaries? Do you know why people are taught the jargon of their professions?

To reduce misunderstanding and error.

When people use street definitions, or make it up, rather than use the standard, universally recognized jargon, theyre asserting that theyre arrogant morons....and proud of it.

Sort of like asserting that you don't need to use proper grammar.

I have a degree in Psychology emphasis on Behavioral Analysis.

Its why I went into marketing work, truth be told.

Behavior is powerful stuff. I think is the third most interestinig subject ever. Especially seeing Skinner's books of just graphs and graphs and graphs. TONS of conditioning experiments and these graphs of the behavior.

Ah! My Alabama Love is here.

I never said it and you know I never said it. I said people obsess too goddamned much about grammar. People use grammar as an excuse to be abusive.

I have, here, in my cum stained hands, maybe 6 grammar books. I study grammar all the time. If the methodology in the grammar books seems okay, I use it. If I like my way better, I use my way.

How's about I croon you a few stanzas of I DID IT MY WAY?

How do you know youre making a difference?

That you even have to ask that question tells me of your impotence.

Peace to you. :rose:

Seems to me that Imp has done the same thing regarding the topic of this thread.

But doing things "her way" has brought about positive change for others.

Why do you insist on attacking others all the time?

That's a major problem with tools. Their users often think that if a tool is good for one purpose it must be good for all of them.

I still think it would be a good idea to change our species name from Homo Sapiens, Thinking Man, to Homo Instrumenta, Tool Using Man.

We're great with tools. Not so hot with thought, yet.

MISTY MORNING

There are two ways of thinking about it.

If you know the state of the art no one is in a position to stop you from making improvements.

Or you dont know the state of the art and make changes arbitrarily.

The one is lateral thinking, the other is anarchism.

He answered that question in a conversation with me-- something about "not lying, but saying things to stir people up and see what will happen." E.G. a troll.

If I take your thesis seriously then youve dismissed your own post as silliness thats likely to change.

The DMS 4 exists so everyone is on the same page when they discuss mental illness. It exists so there are not ONE MILLION meanings for the same thing.

Do you understand the difference between truth and utility?

When I was in sixth grade I thought I was very smart. I'd come up with ways where I thought I could manipulate the people around me. I'd write down whole conversations with people to see if I could predict what they'd say through the whole thing if I set the starting conditions. I was very good at it.

It was fun in sixth grade. Then I got tired of that game and decided being open to people being who they are was more interesting and educational than running them like rats through mazes. So that was the end of my trolling, a period in sixth grade where I was beginning to feel manipulative and limited by wanting to narrow my thoughts and predict them rather than expand them and hope for the unexpected.

I will run like a rat occasionally just for old time's sake. It's what's in the rat that's important, anyway.

I concern myself with the silliness that gets posted HERE. The DMS4 group can take care of itself.

Richard Feynman made an observation thats relevant here. He revealed that when participants in a dicussion dont know shit, and know they dont know shit, the discussion remains pleasant and harmonious. Because no one knows enough to have an opinion or disagree. When people do know what theyre talking about the discussion becomes dramatic.

He said so many eloquent things.

“I believe that a scientist looking at nonscientific problems is just as dumb as the next guy.” Richard Feynman

“I'm smart enough to know that I'm dumb.” Richard Feynman

“It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong” Richard Feynman

“Science is the belief in the ignorance of the experts” Richard Feynman
