Morning all, It's been awhile. Hope all is well with everyone. Is it Spring yet? This Winter seems to be dragging now. We don't have much snow cover and lately have been getting a lot of freezing rain. The dealer here has a program where they pick up your bike and return it for free if you want some Winter work done. So mine is at the dealer getting a new front tire so I'll be ready to go. The back one I did this past Fall as it was getting down there. Anyhow, everyone have a great one!!! C'mon SPRING!!!!!

Thursday is done with and one more day to go before the weekend. Looks like the cold temperatures are coming back this weekend. Saturday and Sunday it looks like we have some form of perception coming through. It seem like spring is dragging it feet for sure

I still want to take the battery over to the storage unit and get my bike started on Saturday. I need to hear the growl from the exhuast... I received the registration notice for motor vehicle. I'll write a check out and get that in the mail.

Got everything finally to do the taxes. So I know what ll be doing this weekend. God I lead such an interesting life...

Just when I was starting to get depressed with this case of cabin fever I had a friend remind me about looking on the bright side...
She was the one who took a bad dump last year and had a number of broken bones as well as a banged up bike...
I told everyone how she made her goal and got back on the bike last fall just before the cold weather hit. A new engine and a lot of other parts from e-bay and swap meets got her bike back on the road looking good.
Wow ... I had to take a step back and look at her great attitude! She is ready to start riding and has worked out at the gym all winter to be sure she is in shape to do it. She's in shape both body and mind!
So I now look at things different too.
Daylight savings time will be early this year , My nephew is home from Iraq ( he grew up way to fast over the last 15 months) btw it was 26 below zero at his base in Alaska last friday! Some change in temps for him!
and spring is just around the corner!

I hope to get to met some of you great folks this year... Hope to enjoy some kickin chili and good brew with great friends.

Thank you for the sunshine NYWings and boy you have great timing as I am watching snow fall outside right now. Just when the lawn was mostly clear... Still don't care going of to the storage unit tomorrow and starting my bike. I need it baddddddddd...

As far as breaking bread with everyone NYWings that will occur again in the spring. Being a vet and have lost many friends you know how important true friends really are... To me it's my way of showing the respect and love I have for them.

Well, it's time for me to start to get ready for work. I want to wish everyone a super great Friday. Are weekend is in sight...

Also, I hope to be able to meet each and every one of you sometime this year........Maybe when Jaded has one of his get togethers, I will be lucky enough to be invited and then hopefully be able to make it up to that part of the country.........

Good morning, girls and boys...

Saturday morning is finally here... Sitting with a cup of coffee and relaxing for a change. Already have the battery of the battery tender. I think I am going to leave the battery connected and go over and run her periodically... The powerful throbbing sound soothes the beast in me... No if only winter and the snow would disappear I would be a really happy man...

I also need to go to Waterbury today to pick up some serrano chile peppers. I be dam in hell if any of the stores have them around here this time of the season. I think I am going to pot a couple of different chile peppers for cooking this year. I also need to clean out my herb garden soon also. A man's work is never done...

Later today we are in for another mixer of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Fix'n this afternoon will be a great day to cook up another small pot of my competition chili. Do a little more fine turning and playing with different flavors... I'm still hell bent on winning this think for Biker's Run...

Cyikac, Blueeyes, and Biker-Bo enjoy that warm southern weather. Oh and Cyikac sorry about your Pat's. But, " We stomped you! "...

A lazy Sunday morning.....

Good morning, everyone...

Sit' n here waiting for the coffee to finish perking. It's 30 degrees here in Woodbury and very foggy... We got approximately a 1 1/2 to 2 inches new snow yesterday. When will spring ever show up...

I do feel a little bit better today about winter. I did put the battery in the Wing and she fired right up. After sitting for 6 to 8 weeks she went off like I had just rode it yesterday. Just seemed strange sitting there warming her up as the snow and freezing rain was falling only a couple of feet outside the door. I left the battery connected. I don't have all that fancy ass computer shit draining the battery while she just sits there. Only a digital clock mounted in the fairing... Yeah, I know that true bikers don't wear a watch or listen to a radio while cruise'n down the road. But us ol'e guys sorta like those big over stuffed comfy seats and super smooth ride... If I could figure out a way to get a big wide screen TV mounted to get the football games on her I'd never stop ride'n. But then again true bikers don't care cell phones either! See the movie "Wild Hogs" to verify what I just said.

I also made it into Waterbury yesterday and found my serrano chile peppers. There are several small ethnic markets there on S, Main St. and Baldwin St. I located one that had serrano chile peppers and only $1.89 a pound. I only bought a halve pound. Fresh is best. I also found Spanish powdered oregano. In International Chili Cook Off contests the chili has to have the consistencies of a deep rich reddish brown gravy. Very smooth with no lumps. Chunks of meat is permitted but they don't want to see anything else floating in the sauce at all. In the peoples choice division (which I have also entered) you can have bits of veggies and spices in the chili sauce. Mad Mike the guy that is heading up the New England Regional Chili Cook Off is trying to submit a Salsa entry into the competition. Don't know were he thinks I have all this time. Love ya Mike and Kate if your read'n this... I'm still dam and determined to win this for Biker's Run... Couldn't care less how many chiefs they have. Just bring it... Only one I would be worried about and she is not entered.

Time to get some coffee and get my day started. Want to wish everybody a great Sunday.

Good Mornin' Everyone;

Well, it sure feels good being back at work...sure wish I would have found someplace a bit warmer to do it in. This weekend it was 7 with windchill of -40.

If the weather is damn frigid up here at least the people are warm. I can't remember ever being in a friendlier place.

Got a couple of job offers from at&t. One doesn't pay much and the other, well if they would have given me that job back in '05 like I wanted I never would have retired.

In a way I hope I'm still up here this spring. Never got to see a river break up from the winter freeze, and I'm sure the Mississippi will put on a good show.

There's a Harley Dealer about 4 miles from the motel...haven't been there yet...for some reason I think it might make me feel sad.

Good morning, girls and boys...

Sweet Jesus Elbiscayne -40 degrees... I sure as hell hope this job is indoors and about arms distance away from a coffee pot...! If not you a much better man than I. My balls were knocking together outdoors in -14 degrees...! Is it a good thing or a bad thing that your back to work...? I took early retirement and stayed fully retired for three months then started to go nuts with boredom. Now I work only 30 hr. a week. But I am considering returning to consulting again making my hours more flexible. I'm a good boss and fair with myself... I don't know to me it just seems that business seem to lack respect for good employees. Then complain they can't find good people. There are plenty of good people around if these companies treated them fairly. OK, soap box put away...

Well, tried some new tricks thanks to Mad Mike when making my competition chili and the chili came out totally awesome. The consistence was on the money. The event is timed. We have a 4 hour window of time to cook this pot of chili. Unlike yesterday I will be cooking outdoors on a Coleman camping stove. The key will be to cook this pot of chili at a low temperature (so it doesn't burn) yet cooks down to a nice gravy like texture. I found a neat device. A remote electronic thermometer and timer. It allows me to set the timer and the temperature to achieve that gravy like texture. It beeps three beeps when within 5 degrees of the set temperature is achieved and an alarm goes off when time is up. Who would have though cooking a pot of chili could get so high tech... I can even walk around with the receiver on my belt. How cool is that... I will still continue to play with different herbs and spices to achieve perfection. Like I said I'm out to kick some serious ass...

OK, back to reality. Got to do laundry this morning and start income taxes this afternoon... Want to wish everyone a super great Monday...!

Good morning, from the frozen tundra of New England...

Well, folks this is New England! Sitting here look'n over a frozen yard. This is the remainder of the freezing rain snow mix we had on Wednesday. Lot of streams and river crested their banks last two days. Temperatures have been running below 32 degrees. Today we are supposed to hit near 50 degrees. Then drop back down below freezing for the weekend. But then again this is New England...

On a light note I do hope everyone enjoyed Valentines day...

I hope everyone have a super great Friday. The weekend is just around the corner... Wish I could say that for spring...

Yup, It's mighty ccold over here in upstate NY too.

I must say I froze riding through Wisconsin in August!
We were out there for the Harley coming home party (100th party) in 2003.
I camped up in a place called the grand marsh. Sound like a great place to camp doesn't it?
Well the fellow was a biker who was in a wheelchair due to some jerk in a car. He had this farm and converted it to a campgounds just for the Harley 100th Party. Great people! It was about 45 to 50 miles out of Milwaulkee but most of the time it was a good ride. A couple nights it was darn cold though. I remember riding with frost on the grass in the fields! Now this was in August!
We would stop in this little bar by the RR tracks for a nightcap along the way. Nothing more than a Grain elevator and Bar with a couple houses clumped together by the tracks. Nice little hometown bar where the folks welcomed us into their world.
The owners daughter ran the place and by the end of the week we were lucky to pay for one drink! The barkeep had a good friend who liked to play pool so we would play partners and did a good job of keeping the table.
The one night we had enough rounds placed in front of us from the locals that we were not going to be riding any too soon. Well the barkeep put out the closed sign and locked the door so this became a private party now. There were a couple local gals who's hubbies were out in the next county visiting a new t & A bar. Another couple still nursing their drink at the bar and the barkeep and her girlfriend. The conversation got around to girls flashing at biker events and soon our new friends were giving it a try and we got a nice show! We ended up taking a bet with the barkeep and her girlfriend on a game of pool. The loosers had to flash.
We did great till my partner scratched the 8 ball...
Well we got a lot of cheers anyway!

Yeah ... Having lots of fun...
I picked up my new car today. The dealer had it all prepped waxed and shining like... well... a new car...
After signing all those darn papers its finally mine! I fire it up and hear those dual exhaust rumble ... Yup I'm excited to finally take this baby home...

As I turn out of the dealership and onto the service road leading to the interstate I realize the town did their job way too well...

They dumped a ton of sand and salt on this road because it snowed overnight.... So instead of the sweet rumble of the pipes all I heard was the sound of salt and mud sloshing up against the sides of the car.
3 hours later when i got the car home it looks like a 10 year old car covered in dirt...
I hate winter!

Good Mornin' from Wisconsin;

Another 5 to 8 inches of snow expected today....got smart and brought my ice scraper/snow brush inside with me. It's falling like a bad dog as I write.

Gonna do motel resturaunt food today and watch the Daytona 500, think warm thoughts and wonder what my next bad job choice is going to be.

Actually, southwestern Wisconsin and southeastern Minnessota are really beautiful.....in a white kind of way. What I really find cool is the ice fishing huts, and the pickup truck and snowmobile tracks on the Mississippi River. Never happen where I'm from.

Global Warming never felt so far away!

The ICE AGE IS UPON US....head south folks, head south!!!!

Gasoline is going for 3.07 here in Wisconsin. Go across the river into Minnessota and it's 2.91. The folks around here say it's because of the taxes.
In Missouri, it hangs around the 2.70 range. I reckon Missouri just gouges us on taxes somewhere other than gas.

All I know is that it's beginning to look like it's cheaper not to work. Hell, I've heard that you can even get them to pay you to not work. May just look into that. Yep. I just might.

Hey NYWINGS: I reckon if they are going to depreciate your car as soon as you drive it off the lot, it may as well look depreciated. Too bad the payments don't get depreciated, huh?

Good afternoon, gang....

Well, if nothing else I am trying to think warm thoughts...

Best of wish on the new ride NYWings. I have a few years before I decide to do that. I replaced the engine in my van, overhauled the transmission, and went through the rear differential on it right before retiring while I had all the equipment to do so at hand. Typical GM product the paint is lifting on the roof. Not sure if I want to repaint the entire van or just hit the roof with paint. I am starting to think about a small pick'm up truck. If I remember correctly regular unleaded is around $3.27 a gallon at the gas station down the street. The van uses high test at $3.46 a gallon. Oh and that is the just dropped prices... Connecticut is the second highest taxed state. California beat us but were closing the gap...

Elbiscayne I have never know anyone before that moved into a snow belt before... We had the sleet/ice storm move through Connecticut last Wednesday and still have most of the ice pack. We are supposed to get heavy rain tonight and tomorrow. Which makes me wonder how much flooding will occur? We were at 16 degrees this morning heading towards 52 degrees tomorrow afternoon. But that's New England for ya. Now as far a poor choice of jobs are concerned! The government announced recently they were dumping a great deal of money into the job market to help re train those of us Americans that have had their jobs out sourced to different countries. I am not sure just how much additional training skills it is going to require to learn to say " Would you like an apple pie to go with your meal... ". To get one of them good high pay'n jobs...

I'm with both you guys I'm am not sure how much of this frick'n cold weather I can deal with! I would say I am so bored I could scream but I have already done that!

Well, I finalized the recipe for the competitive side of the chili cook of in May. Now I have to develop the recipe for the people's choice side of the competition. So I know what I'll be doing this weekend... I am starting to get excited now that it is getting closer. I need to find a "HOTTIE" to help in the kitchen now...

I so miss being on the back of a bike! I've dated a few guys with Harleys, no one lately though. It's cold still of course, being New England, but it is sunny today and this thread caught my eye. I can't wait for spring!

Any nice single guys out there looking for someone to ride on the back As an old boyfriend used to say to me, "there's nothing like having a hot chick with a nice rack on the back of your bike."

I'm in the Southeastern Mass/Rhode Island area, where there are plenty of bikers and some great rides.
