Howdy everyone. Haven't been here in awhile as the weather has just been toooooo lousy to do any kind of riding at all. But hopefully Spring is just around the corner. I know in a couple of weeks we have to get the training fleet out and ready.... so Spring cant' be toooo far!!!

Hoping everyone has survived the winter months. I'm hoping to get to the New England states this year for a week. Plan on looking you up Jaded... Not sure when yet, but will keep the thread informed.

I can always use a backrest!

I can't believe this shit. It's snowing again... The weather quesser's are predicting 5 to 10 inches of snow for this weekend. God I need warm weather...

OK, to make those of us that need their spirits lifted I am thinking of are first cook off this year for the mid May. I need to get by the chili cook off first. Right know I am staying focused on the chili cook off. My competition recipe is complete and I am going to be working on the peoples choice recipe Saturday. As soon I have come up with an actual date I will PM you so you can put it on your calendar. It will be a decadent affair of good food, good friends, and good times. Anyone want to challenge me culinary wise...

OK, time to start to get ready for work. Wished I didn't have to be out in this shit today. Really tired of snow...!

Good morning, girls and boys...

Woohoo the weekend is finally here... This has been a crazy week. I am enjoying a cup of coffee then I need to get outside and clean off the snow on my van. I ended up with a foot of new snow. Just when I thought we where out of winters clutches.

I need to go out Monday and get a couple of auto body accident repair quotes. I had a gal back up into my van while it was parked and stoved the entire driver's side door in yesterday. I couldn't believe it... I had it parked on the lawn and I was clearing the snow off the drive way. She backed out of the neighbor driveway right into it... What I think I am going to do is take the money and dump the van. This is the second accident. Time prior I was about to pull out of a parking lot and a gal back up into the side sliding door. It seems people for some odd reason can't see that big ass conversion van... I have had my eye on a 1979 silver blue Chevy V8 El Camino with only 58,000 miles. I think I am going to look at it a little closer and maybe make him an offer.

Good morning, everyone...

Well, what light breaks through yonder window does not for the moment include visions of more snow falling. It snowed a very fine snow for most of the morning yesterday adding another couple of inches. Sorta like adding insult to injury. So yesterday I didn't give a dam what it did I stayed indoors developing my people choice chili recipe. I incorporated the seasoning combinations I developed in my competition chili into the peoples choice chili. Peoples choice can include anything you want in it. So besides the different meats, fresh onions, fresh garlic, fresh chili peppers, and cilantro. I added kidney beans, and corn. Now that I have a basic recipe I can fine tune it to were I am very competitive in that category too... Both my competitive I.C.S. entry and my peoples choice will only be a medium spice level. I will have a couple of bottle of liquid fire to allow the people to spice it up more if they want too. This way both entries will appeal to a wider ranger of people. Who said this kid isn't smart...

Now to the on going saga about Fridays accident. Received a call from the gal that back up into my van. She told me that she didn't report the accident to her insurance company. When we were exchanging insurance information she revealed that they just replaced the rear bumper on her vehicle from her backing up into another vehicle only two month prior. That if all possible she wanted to settle this outside of the insurance company. Now my van is up there in years by my choice. I am not into new cars or vans simply because I don't have all the electronic equipment to diagnose problems with them and I don't really want to buy the equipment. I am a strong believer in the KISS method of build cars and bikes. "Keep It Simple Stupid" Really you don't need all these computers and sensors for a vehicle to start and run. When the accident occurred I was very polite and did not show anger. Yesterday this gal implied that since my vehicle is an older vehicle that she was willing to give me the $200.00 deductible she would be liable for to the insurance co. and we call it even. She and her husband are very affluent in this town. I couldn't believe that this dumb bitch had the balls to say such a think... I politely explained her offer was un acceptable and that I would get repair estimates from several body shops. That once I know the repair expense I will contact her. What she doesn't understand is I really couldn't care less whether I get the money for repairs from her or from her insurance company. My van was parked on my lawn and she back up into me. Her premiums are the one that will go up to the number of accidents she recently had. Her vehicle has blackened glass all around so I can understand the difficult she may have experienced backing out of the driveway. However knowing this she should have physically checked what was behind her vehicle before getting into the vehicle to back up. Stupidity on her part is not an excuse. This woman seemed to want my attention and now she has it. Time to take her to school...

What's with people now days... A lot of whack jobs out there...

God I wish this snow would disappear. I really need some two wheel time to get my head screwed on straight. I really need a safe way to vent my frustration and pressure. I really can't believe the stupidity out there these days...

Evenin' from Missouri.....YEP, I got lucky and got my old happy ass out of Wisconsin......I saw dirt and grass for the first time in a month! A job opened up in Columbia, Missouri and I jumped on it with both feet.

Took a little over 12 hours to drive a little over 400 miles. A full moon, blowing snow causing white outs in areas, heavy fog in others, 25mph through some small towns. There's a happy ending to that story though...it was 30 some degrees back in St. Louis and it felt like I was in the f'n tropics.

Sorry to read about your van, Jaded. People just don't care about other peoples stuff, or even other people, as far as that goes.

I think you were more than a gentleman with this person who hit your van.
Now they are being stupid is right!

She seems to have a real problem running into people and now she wants to back out of her responcibility.

Best advice to you my friend is get on the phone asap with her ins carrier and report it. You were parked unattended and have NO liability on your part at all!
She , on the other hand, bears full 100% liability for any and all damage to restore your vehicle to a pre-loss condition... AND the use of a comparable size veh ( another van) while yours is being repaired.

You tried to be nice, you tried to extend the olive branch but she choose to spit in your face with an offer like that...

Sorry... I have no mercy for people who drive the ins rates up for all of us...
She deserves to pay more because she causes accidents!

Sorry but people who try to get out of paying what they owe just get under my skin.

Please don't waste any more time. Report it... Get your notice to her company on record.
It will now look twice as bad for her because she tried to cover up the loss... Which is a direct violation of her contract... Policy. She has an obligation to report all losses regardless of fault. And she doesn't seem to care.

Good evening, gang...

Well, it was a work day for me so of course we had rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Welcome to New England. According to the weather quesser's this is Connecticut's second wettest February since they started recording the amount of water that feel.

Elbiscayne sounds like you had a very interesting drive south. But your warm and south again. Up hear their predicting 7 degrees for Friday morning. Enough of this silly ass cold weather shit... I want warm weather...!

Monday I went to two places to get quotes for repairs to the door. Both where around $2,100.00 to repair. They told me 3 to 5 days to complete the work so I got a rate of $32.00 a day from enterprise for a sub compact. That will work fine. Both body shops warned me that no matter what the do that because my van is a conversion van with a stripping package that the door is definitely going to look like it has been replaced. They can match the door paint color pretty good. But the stripping is a decal and what's on the rest of the van has faded in the sun. The only way for that door not to be detectable would be to re paint the entire van then re stripe it. That would be to much work. Going Saturday over a friends place to look at a 1979 Chevy El Camino. It's a nice silver blue with a 350 cu in V8. It only has 58,000 miles on it. Think I'm going to collect the money to repair the van and dump it for what ever I can get for it. The El Camino will work out better with the bike. Actually the bike will fit in the bed of the El Camino.

I hear ya NYWings. The gal and I was supposed to meet here at my place tonight so I could give her the auto body quotes. She never showed and never called. Last time I talked with her she was interested in paying for the repairs out of pocket. She didn't want to go through the insurance company. She did want her premiums to go through the roof seeing this is her second accident in two month. I will wait until tomorrow and call her. See she and hubby is one of are local fat cats. One thing about fat cats is they make a big target. They deal in commercial properties in the area. Bad publicity would not be good for business. Trust me my friend I have NO problems with ruffling fur on fat cats. I always try my best to be nice at first. Then the gloves come off and I stomp a mud pit were there ass used to be. I grew up in NY and can play rough...

Not sure if you spotted my comment on a prior post about are 1st cook off in the middle of May... I'll announce a date soon and send out invites...

It's a bright sunny morning here in the small town of Woodbury, CT. It is supposed to make it into the low 40's this afternoon. I want to get outside for a little while this afternoon. Perhaps vacuum out the van and start the bike again. I hope it gets warmer over the next couple of days and gets rid of all this dam snow...

Tomorrow morning I have the insurance adjuster stopping by to inspect the damage to my vehicle. Hopefully, that will get the ball rolling...

I had my very first encounter with an insurance adjuster in my life… Sweet mother of god I never realized that these people are physics …!

Now admittedly I have never had an accident and this was a totally new experience for me. The Nationwide agent was impressive to say the least. He surveyed the damage to my (door area) vehicle. Took the vehicle identification number and returned to his vehicle. There in his vehicle was a laptop mounted on a stand right next to him and a wireless printer in the back seat. He keyed in my vin # and up popped the identification of my 1990 GMC Safari van. This WOULD have been impressive if it described the right vehicle but it didn’t. The description was for a 1990 GMC Safari cargo van. Which is the basic bare bone vehicle purchased by the conversion van company from GM. There they turn these plain Jane’s into custom vehicles. It did not reflect the premium sound system, the customer interior, the custom side window, the running boards, etc. A typical conversion van will cost you another 10 grand above the cost of a cargo van. It listed the trade in value of $1500.00. The key words here are trade in value. Had I been aware that I was going to be trading the vehicle in after saving the vehicle from the junk yard three years ago I probably wouldn’t have put another engine and rebuilt the transmission… Since the engine and transmission I put on only another 10,000 miles. The interior is clean and has no rips. The body is clean and doesn’t have any rust. The top of the line model Safari in 1990 was the SLT which is still 5 grand below the price of my conversion van and its trade in value is $1800.00. Prior I went to two local body shoes. Both body shops where around $2,100.00 to repair. The adjuster put together a estimate and came up with $1,400.00 which leaves a $700.00 difference. When I brought this to his attention he said that if they want the work they would need to negotiate. A $700.00 difference is a big negotiation. Which basically interrupts to cutting corners and shabby workmanship. He explained that the $1,400.00 was 80 percent of book value. The there was much more that could be added as a supplement before the vehicle would be considered a total. The fact that I put all this additional work into the vehicle didn’t add to the book value. I had all the slips in my hand. But, he refused to look at them. So here I sit with two body shop estimates for $2,100.00 in repairs and a check for $1,400.00.

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS MOMENT TO COMMEND YOU ON YOUR TOTAL LACK OF INCOMPTENCE! I raise my hand high and want to present you with the fickle finger of faith award… Remember in your case you’re NOT a rock star and negative publicity is really not good for your image. I promise you that this is going to hurt you a lot…

Sorry to hear that the insurance adjuster wasn't listening to you. Don't cash the check, and call the insurance, tell them that you don't believe the adjuster did a good job, and you want a second opinion.

Good morning, everyone...

Happy hump day to you all. Last night we had one hell of a lot of rain and flooding. These thunder storms left downed branches and power outages all over... Good news is that it took most of the snow pack with it as they left... Now if we can get the temperature to move up and the state to get the sand up off the road we'll be able to ride here in Connecticut.... I am going ignore the weather guesser's prediction for a mixer of sleet and snow Friday.

I need to get my van washed Saturday and get pictures of the van. I am taking Nationwide and this woman to the Connecticut Insurance appeals court in Hartford. It's a matter of principal now. I don't that I will be able to defeat corporate America. But I can assure you they are going to get a LOT very of unfavorable publicity and news coverage which will hurt them in the long run in this state. I need the pictures to show the condition of my vehicle and the damage she did. Then I need to see if I can get the door straightened out enough to be able to open and close it easy.

Still organizing for the chili cook off in lease than two months now. Christ can life get any busier...

Bought a toy for myself... I bought a Tom Tom model One GPS receiver. The are on sale right now. I have it set up in the van for the moment. I need to buy a motorcycle handle bar mounting bracket and install an accessory plug in outlet. Now if I can only figure out how to mount a wide screen TV for football season I'd never get of the bike...

It looks like it finally has stopped raining here. Between the heavy rain and melting snow we have a lot of river and stream flooding. The sky have a slight haze to it which I hope will burn off today. I need to get some pictures of the accident damage to the door. My daughter in law's Dad is a lawyer and a great guy. I give him a call and get his advice on the best way to handle it.

I need to get outside and collect up all the downed branches from the storm this afternoon. However this morning I want to go online and find a mounting bracket to mount my GPS unit on the bikes handle bars.

A man's work is never down...

I didn't realize just how strong the winds were Saturday until I found they had bent the wrought iron pole that was holding my bird feeder over to the ground...

After listening to the weather report for this nation and seeing all the snow storms, ice storms, rain storms, high winds, on the weather channel I do hope some of ya are able to get out and ride.

Found a company by the name of Ram-Mounting Systems that seems to make a pretty secure mounting bracket to mount my Tom Tom GPS unit to the handle bars of my GoldWing. I think I will order it the week...

Spent part of the weekend preparing for the chili cook off. It's coming up quick. Could use more help in the kitchen if anyone is interested.
