......Figures don't it jade, nicer day, just in time to go back to work, started out that way here, but got nicer, altho still cold. Woke up to a bit of 'flurries', and some icy spots, but nothin' to be called out about.
......Hate to hear 'bout your 'brother' doc, condolesences to you my friend.
......The cold is still here, and comin' your way as well, but s'pposed to be nicer by Thanksgivin'. I plan on ridin' in, in the mornin'. Like I said, I luv the looks people give ya, when its really cold, and you're on your bike, lol.
......Hope everyone had a great Monday, was perty good here, I keep thinkin', only got till lunch Wednesday, then have a long weekend, for Givin' thanks...I have always had much to be thankful for, but with the new/first gr-daughter, I feel truly blessed....
......I hear ya 'bout the taxes dinny, seems the older I get, the more they find to 'tax' me for, only difference, like ya stated, is it seems to cost less in some places...

Really turned yucky here today. Forecase yesterday was rain on Turkey day so I did not stop at the store on the way home yesterday evening. Got up this morning and it was overcast but the more time went by the cloudier it got. Noticed the clouds were coming in from that nasty stuff in the Atlantic. Now it is rainy and cold....yucky. Wouldn't you know I am off today too. We were given an extra long weekend by the good ol' Governor of the Commonwealth.

Good news is for Turkey day the forecast is partly cloudy and only a 10 percent chance of rain. I am headed to the Legion myself for some good cooking. I prefer to smoke a turkey myself but with just me, myself, and I that is kind of pointless.

I am taking a little bit of a break from preparing Thanksgiving dinner. I want to wish one and all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Today menu will be.

A 20 lb turkey bird with my own stuffing.

Mashed potatoes.

Sweet candied yams.

String bean casserole.

Cranberry jelly.

Lots of homemade turkey grave.

Freshly made butter milk biscuits with lots of creamy butter.

I hope your day is filled with laughter, good friends, family, love, and peace. Please take a minute to think of are men and women in service to are country. They are todays heros....

Good evening, everyone...

Wanted to come on and see how everyone is doing... It was just me for Thanksgiving dinner so I wasn't rush. Every thing was awesome... It's funny I truly enjoy turkey yet the only time I make it is at Thanksgiving. I don't know why... But with a twenty pound turkey I'll have leftovers for a little while anyway...

I talked with my beautiful daughter in Texas this morning. My very handsome grandson and son in law are doing fine. They are thinking about putting their house on the market. They want to move to Colorado. My daughter lived there for a couple of years and loved it. They took a vacation there last year and now my son in law wants to live there also. It seem the housing market in Texas is still very strong. Up here in New England it's shit...

Snake I hope your head cold didn't bother you to much today. Sound like your lady took pretty good care of the family today.

Hey Doc, how the hell ya smoke a turkey? Mine was twenty pound. No way could I get that bad boy in my mouth... Hope ya got your fill of bird at the legion.

Dinny haven't seen around but I want to wish you a great Thanksgiving Day to my friend.

Didn't drop off the face of the planet...

Got involved with a political forum and had to beat some gawddamned intellectual types over the head with their own stupidity. I guess I'm the idiot for trying to reason with politicians...you're always going to lose. Ain't had much riding, but still working on the van. Spent the first three days of this week making the 80 mile round trip to the VA for appointments, and took Thanksgiving off. The Mrs. cooked as usual, and regretted it as usual.

Good morning, Dinny, Snake, and Doc...

Guess were the only winter die hards to are little thread. The rest must be in hibernation...

Dinny for such a smart guy I would have thought you knew better teach a politician. Shit around here in New England it seems the only way to keep any of them honest is locking on to them with a good sight picture over iron sights... It nice to enjoy a nice home cooked meal with family...

The weather is supposed to be great the next couple of days here. So nice in fact I think I am going to try and finish scraping and painting that last end cap on the house. The it will be finished and I can have some time back for me.

Next week I am going to officially put the bike away for the winter. A good friend of mine has a storage building as big as his house for his business equipment. It is heated with plenty of electrical outlets for a trickle charge. Told me to ride my bike over and store it there with his Harley and his vintage Kawasaki two cycle triple 500cc street bike. I think I'm going to take him up on it. He has way more space than I do...

Doc and Snake I do hope you are taking advantage of the nice weather...

Well I need more coffee and want to make some breakfast before starting the scraping. Want to wish everyone a great weekend... Catcha ya all later...!

Good morning, one and all...

I is a very quiet morning here in the small New England town of Woodbury, CT... It seem that everyone got to get to be outside yesterday which is always a good think.

Spent yesterday scraping the last section of the house and my legs are tired from being on the extension ladder. Today I'll take the day off from painting. I think today I am going to make a nice turkey broth out of the remain turkey bird... I can put the broth into smaller containers and use it to make a nice hearty turkey for those chilly winter days. Please don't get the wrong idea I still have plenty of turkey left overs in the refrigerator. But I like turkey so I don't care... But I think I am going to make a nice New Englander breakfast of coffee, orange juice, eggs w/cheese, bacon, Jaded's very special home fries, fresh buttermilk biscuits, and lots of unsalted cream butter...

Or anyone else still lurkin'. Weather has been beautiful here, for several days now, and I've barely got in ridin' in. Thought of a good ride today, but I haven't even cut any wood, and been off since Wed. lunch, so gonna have to get out and cut some this afternoon.
Seems my/our life has changed drastically, since the new gr-daughter came along. I would ride, but just hate to go anywhere without her, so me an the ol' woman end up ridin' around in the cage, lol...Don't misunderstand, I wouldn't have it any other way... ...Have had her out some on these nice days, did give her a short ride 'round the yard on the 4-wheeler, and between it and the bike, she is gonna be an outdoors gal...
Still eatin' leftovers here as well jade, I think most of its gone, but lookin' like I'm gonna be takin' turkey sandwiches to work for the better part of next week. Not a problem, cause I do like turkey...
Seems these last few days have flown by, and here it is, almost Monday again.
Hope everyone had a great holiday, and weekend, and this nice weather continues until 'bout march, then it warms up...

Yes it has been wonderful riding weather. I needed to put some miles on the bike so I could get that 1000 mile service if I store it or just before riding to Arkansas for Xmas whichever I decide. Friday I want to Great Falls NP Virginia. I short little 60 mile round tripper. http://www.nps.gov/archive/gwmp/grfa/

Saturday I decided to really ride. My plan was to ride to Front Royal, VA and catch Skyline Drive on the Blue Ridge Parkwayin the Shenandoah National Park. (http://www.nps.gov/shen). I hate the interstate so I was going to take the back roads. Was going to take Skyline for almost the whole length and then come home. Well missed my turn somewhere on Hwy 29 (29th Inf. Div Memorial Hwy) and drove and drove and drove. Should have pulled over and pulled out the GPS but it was such a great road that I just kept going. Got almost to Charlotsville, VA when I saw a sign in the lovely little town of Ruckersville, VA so I made the turn. What a drive up to the entrance it was. The road took me from 0 to 2400 feet in about 12 miles. Ears popping and all it was a great drive up. Well got to the Swift Gap entrance and that part of Skyline was closed due to recent storms. So oh well it was a nice drive up and the drive down was going to be nice, I knew so down I went. Then back home. Good thing it was closed though 'cause it was a wee bit nippier up there at 2400 feet and by the time I back to the DC Metro it was pretty chilly seeing it was then after dark. So stops included, yeah my old bones and the bike don't get along too well. Need some different handlebars....., stops included it was 7 hours round trip.
So today, at first I though, I have been to the moutains lets go to the oceanside. Well I decided instead to make it a worthwhile and more enjoyable non interstate trip and headed up Hwy 7 to Leesburg, caught 15 (James Madison Highway) and went to the HD dealership in Frederick, MD. Another beautiful drive as i decended the foothills of the mountains the Potomac River crossing and back up to Frederick. 15 in Virginia is a nice up and down windy road, little rough in areas as far as pavement for a bike but beautiful for driving though . Then coming home I hit Leesburg again just in time for about 100 Bikes and Bikers/Riders checking out Leesburg. Well 15 was so enjoyable I took it back down to 29 and it was a wonderful ride.

So all in all some wonderful rides. Got outa the city into the country. You know people in the rural part of Virginia actually talk right. Sound a lot like me with my suuuthan accent. LOL I almost met my goal of doubling my miles as well. 860 when I came to a stop at 6 PM this evening. A little sore from riding, a little sun or wind burned in the face, but feel soooo relaxed tonight.

Tommorrow is Monday.....Thursday I thought it would never get here. Today I wish it would wait a while. Oh well. Only 3 weeks left of school and it will fly by. Then off to Arkansas for a well deserved vacation and some family time.

Sounds like a truly beautiful ride...ain't been on the Blueridge since I was ten years old. Did pull the bike out and run her up a couple times this week, but been staying pretty close to home. Don't over do the left overs Snake.

Yeah promised the family a trip along Natchez Trace Parkway, however, think the Blue Ridge would make a heck of a ride for a family vacation. Prolly much better than the Trace as we called it in Mississippi. Although I have a really bad case of acrophobia I love the mountains. Also love the Ocean (the Aquarian in me). So Virginia is a great state when you can hit both in a days drive.

70 degrees in the Lou today and the riding was great!

I have an '01 Softail Standard and enjoy riding when i can (never enough).

There are two great rides close by. West of STL on MO 94 out through wine country and up IL 100 from Alton to Grafton. Both are great rides.

Plenty of great rides down your way. I used to drill in St. Louis. Lived in the Bootheel for a bit and in NE Arkansas. I used to curse the traffic there but now I have been in this area St. Louis traffic is nothing.

Sounds like ya had a helluva ride doc, I have never been up to the skyline drive, but we do ride the blueridge, its perty close for us, gettin' on in the smokies, Asheville, or even Boone is close. Didn't get much ridin' in today, and it was 'bout 70 again, but did get some wood in, and a few honey-do jobs I needed to finish before the weather turns bad. I did make a run to wal-mart, after the JETS won, , seems there was another team from new york playin' today...or was there?... (just had to throw that out there... ...)
Have to agree with ya doc, 'bout Monday, seems like just yesterday we were gettin' off for the holidays, oh well, back to the grind.
Glad to hear ya got some saddle time in dinny, Can only imagine the weather ya have out there. There are usually some perty nice days thru-out our winters, that ya can sneak in a nice ride, and like I have said before, if it ain't gonna weather, I generally ride to work.
Glad to have a new poster joinin' our ranks, and would like to welcome ya fyrfyter, hope to hear more from ya thruout the cabin-fever days of winter..
Sounds like ya had a good holiday as well jade, am sure talkin' to your family made it even more special, and glad ya got the rest of your house scraped...now the part I hate, worse then anything, paintin'...Hope ya get all that done before spring, and ridin' time really sets in....

I just about freaked out totally coming over Monarch Pass on my last trip back from California...pass is just under 12,000 feet and the climb up is a slow slope up an canyon to the summit hanging off the side of a mountain. This kinda shit didn't bother me when I was young, but as I've gotten older, can't stand tunnels, tall bridges or those steep mountain roads any more. I've become a flatlander after living the life of daredevil. Damn this getting old crap.

Yeah Man, had a slight case of acrophobia when I was young. It all started when my aunt held me by my feet on the glass ring around the Seattle Space Needle way back when before they put the guard fence up. Then an almost catastrophy when a ladder slipped out from under me and I hung on for dear life at about 20 feet up. Now it is terrible. The vertigo actually kicks in pretty bad even kicks in a bit when watching movies involving heights. Bless me in the IMAX theatre when they show those thrill ride movies.

I can't imagine what possesses some people to do that kind of stuff to kids. I think my vertigo started when I got off the plane from the far east and said I was never going anywhere ever again...I've broken that promise very few times since 1973. I figured avoiding it would make it easier when I was faced with it in the future...damn I'm so full of shit!

I had to work today but did manage to pop my head out the door for a little bit... Man what a incredible day...

Well it looks like we picked up another Bro to are little thread. Welcome to the thread FyrFytr. Here your always among family and always welcome. Here it's about that feeling of freedom you get on two wheels that you won't find in a cage... Whether you up on the front seat on hold'n tight on the rear seat it's a incredible feeling. Your right there is never enough time to two wheel. Christ imagine a job were you job was ridden two wheels and got paid to do so... The guys here are a great bunch you'll lov'm.

Dinny sounds like ya got a little time in put'n. How's the Dodge van been doing. I swapped over the rear tire on my van to snows. The weather guess'r are say some early snow in my region.

Doc sound like you had a great trip on your bike these last couple of days. I know you were thing about me as I was scrapping and painting the house. I only have one more end cap on the house to finish then it's done... I really didn't realize how badly the paint was on the house. Every section I would start to scrap I would end up going to approx. 90% bare wood. Then I'd get out the oil primer. Followed by a latex finish coat. Haven't under taken a project of this size in a while. But next year I will be a free man again...

Snake actually it was touching to here ya talk about your family and new grand daughter. When I was raise my son and daughter I gave up my bike. I know how much you would like to just jump on the Gold Wing and take off. But as a man you also have other priority's and you seem to have the right order thing must take presidencies. That my friends speaks volumes about a true man. Some times we don't always get to do what we want to do. The other rely on us and we don't fail them. Your a dam good man Grandpa.

Well gang I have to do some light house cleaning. Both my lady and I have a the same day off tomorrow. We have been kind busy and haven't gotten together lately. So tomorrow is are day. A man needs a good lady in his life to keep him on track...
