Gentlemen start those engines.

Spring is almost here and the highways are calling.

Hey Doc is that the ride to the Vietnam Wall of rememberence in WashingtonDC???

Done that once when Paul Revere and the Raiders braught out their album "Ride to the wall"

Really wanna do it again

Even got me a copy of the CD :D

Hope it's a good one for you

One in the same Wall their bro. This is not the big run to the wall which is held memorial day each year. There are actually several events that join up in DC as Rolling Thunder. This year is the 20th year of Rolling Thunder. Ride to the Wall or Run for the Wall is one of these events and is in its 19th year. 10s of thousands of bikes literally decend on DC for Thunder each year. Not sure how the numbers compare to the rallys out there but I would say it is probably as big as several rallys combined.

3500 riders participated in a small part of it that starts about 2 blocks from where I live called Ride of the Patriots and meets up with Thunder a few blocks from the wall. I have learned the secret of the Ride of the Patriots after studdying and talking. Volunteer. Yeah if you volunteer to help out for a couple hours you get to park at Patriot HD and leave out with the first bikes. Woo Hoo I will be there. Volunteer at http://www.rideofthepatriots.com. This is a HOG pin stop too by the way. Gotta love them pins and patches.

So not this is not a part of that but an effort to prevent our memorials from being desecrated by anti war protestors such as was done at the 1/27/07 rally sponsored by the same group when they painted the capital steps with spray paint. One of the main memorials we are surrounding will be The Wall. Some call this a counter protest but orders are to stand silent so not sure how that it a counter protest. Numbers are about 2000 to about 10000 protesters. We will just stand there tall and proud and hopefully they will not break or ranks. However, our orders also that if one of them or small groups grow some and actually do come through we are not to stop the freaking hooligans but to take notes, video, pictures, whatever to identify them so they can go to jail.

Hey Jaded did you have to say the freaking "S" word, huh? Snow mid March no way. Weather man says WAY. Now they are calling for it here tommorrow. The weather has flipped on us big time. 60 when I road in to work this morning and 42 when I road home. That just aint right. Tommorrows highs are in the low 40's and that will happen before 9 according to the weather man. At 10 it is supposed to start a wintry mix and do that until dark when it turns to snow. We are juuuuust at the tip of your nasty weather. Wonder if I stand outside and blow hard if it will stay north.

G-evenin' everyone,

...I hear ya 'bout the gr-kids jade, I can barely remember mine at her age now, and I am sure enjoyin' her early days. She will be 6 months in another week, and I agree with ya 'bout the side car. Folks keep tellin' me, I'm gonna have to take "G", off the luggage rack, to make a place for katey-Ray. But I keep insistin', theres room for all of us...
...Wouldn't go so far as to say that webb... ...Always glad to hear of people ridin'. I have considered movin' south, like Fla. where I could ride all the time, but the dang commute, back to Va every day, would be a real bitch...
...Has turned off rainy tonite, and we also are s'pposed to be gettin' a cold front thru this weekend. Snow has been mentioned, but only in the form of flurries. We are in dire need of rain, has been so dry, wildfires have burned several thousand acres here in the county, in the last week.
...Hope everyone has a great evenin', and tomorrow, FRIDAY... :) ...is even better...

...Ride safe, but ride...

Good evening, everyone... :)

It rained most of the day here in Woodbury. This rain were getting is supposed to change over to freezing rain tonight and end by morning. Then around noon tomorrow it is supposed to snow on top of the ice. By the time the snow end Saturday afternoon some time we can have a foot of new snow on the ground. Shit there are spots still were we have old snow. Not a happy camper at the moment....

Dr. my friend I hope this storm misses you and your able to make the ride... :D Maybe some day I'll muster the courage to face my demons and take it to the wall. Ya know that I can honestly say not much scares me anymore. God I have been through some really super crazy ass shit... :D Done shit that I didn't think I was gonna make it out alive. In Nam I picked up the nick name "animal" because of the sick shit I did. At one point I lost all value for human life. It meant absolutely nothing. But that fuck'n wall scares the piss right out of me. I don't know why. I love it for the good it has done for many and I hate it because I fear it so much. I fear I will see thier faces in that polished stone and that scares me. Christ I think I am beginning to loose it! I don't know of any of us that faced that war that came home as inoccent as the left...:(

Snake ya can't strap a baby seat in the luggage rack on your bike... :D I think that your gonna have to sacarific some rid'n time for that little cuttie...! That's not asking a whole hell of a lot for one of those pretty smiles Gramps... ;)

Actually Webbo Snake is right we all envy you. I wonder what the frieght charges would be to ship a bike down under? Hey mate what do the rents run down there by you. If ya can't beat'm ya join'm.

Well gonna run for now. Stay warm, stay dry, and stay upright... :D

Have you checked the weather lately bro? I checked this morning and someone sent me a message at Gathering of the Eagles that made me look again and say HOLY SCHIZNIT.

G-mornin' everyone,

...Wakin' up to a wet/rainy mornin' here in the western tip of the old dominion, but its still Friday... :nana: ...Reckon the weather is s'pposed to be movin' out today, altho we do have a chance for some flurries later/tonite. Been listenin' to the weatherman, and he says we have perty much already seen our hi for the day, gonna continue to get colder as the day goes along..
...Was out a bit earlier, and it is very warm, which always makes it seem even colder, when the front does come thru. Oh well, like i said earlier, we DO need the rain..
...Hope the weather doesn't affect your plans for the weekend doc. I'm all for tryin' to push it north to jade myself... ;)
...Kiddin' jade, hope its a missed call on the weather, and ol' man winter is nicer to ya this weekend.
...Hope everyone has a great Friday...

Ride safe, but ride....

Good morning, gang... :)

Well not sure when it switched from rain to ice last night but there is about 2 inches out there so far... :( I don't think the have any clue as how much we can possible get. I am hearing between ten inch of snow to 2 foot on top of this ice before it ends sometimes Saturday...

Dr ol'e friend looks like you may be rescheduling your ride this weekend. Sorry good friend...:(

Snake I hope it stays as rain for ya... :)

Well I'm gonna make some breakfast. This is supposed to be a early day for me but there are going to be a lot of no shows. That means I'll have to stay. This is going to be a long hard day.

It's off to get the day started. Want to wish everyone a super great day. Stay warm, stay dry, and stay upright... :)

Good evening, everyone... :)

The work week is finally over for me. Just sitting here relaxings. I have at least a foot of snow on the ground and it's still coming down. The roads are really bad...:( Spent most of the day on the road and I'm exhausted. There were lots of accidents today. I am going to leave snow removal until tomorrow. With all this snow outside it's difficult to believe that next Wednesday is the first day of spring.

I hope everyone had a good day... :D

Well I'm gonna go get a hot shower. Have a great evening... ;)

Stay warm, stay dry, and stay upright... :)

A biker forum, yeah! I live in Canada, and although temps were high enough here to ride a couple of days ago, which I did, we are now expecting 20 cm of snow. I can't wait for spring to come so I can dawn my leather jacket and chaps, straddle my 883 HD and hit the open road!

Looks like I've got my work cut out for me with all you men. Here you are all wanting to give and all I can think to do is give to you. I'm a pretty good catcher but I like to hit one out of the park every so often. ;)

Hello everyone,

...Gawd jade, man I sure hate hearin' 'bout the messy weather up your way. I heard on the radio this afternoon, as I was feedin, snow is soo bad in NY, the airports are closed? I rekon I heard that rite. Nothin' but rain here today, and its still not too bad cold out, so looks like we may have dodged another. Hang in there bud, warmer days are comin'...... :)
...Welcome Michelin, always good to see new faces posting, like one big happy family here. Look forward to hearin' more from ya in the future.
...Like the helmet stickers, secret. Your post makes me long for the hazy/lazy days of summer ball....goin', goin', goin', gone....... ;)
...Guess webb is out ridin'....and hope the snow missed you doc...
...Hope everyone has a great evenin', and Saturday is even better....

Ridin' is not about the destination, its all about the journey......

Our bike could be bookends, Jade

Mine's the same color, but I've already got the electronics...looking for one last place on the handle bars to mount my GPS...guess I got to get a set of apes for that. Set out for CA yesterday, got 400 miles down the road and had to turn around and come back home...carb problems...so broke out the Jeep for one more trip. Only saw one other guy on I-80 headed west...guess we were a month ahead of the weather...cold and heavy crosswinds, five foot drifts still off the sides of the road behind the drift fences and those high spring clouds that look like it could close up and snow on you in a heart beat. God...I love the Rockies, never a dull moment. I was at the memorial fourteen years ago mid-day by myself and started walking down the wall and saw the name of one my friends from medic school. I knew he was assigned to an army field hospital in VN straight out of school, I also heard something had happened to him, never knew the full story though. He was the first friend I lost, and the last was my buddy in September last year that did himself in. Lot of water under the bridge for me and that stupid war. My heart goes out to the young folks coming back now. Unless you've done it, you never know how it changes you inside and out.

Good morning, everyone... :)

I am not sure if it has finally stopped snowing... The skies are a light blueish grey. But I thing I'm gonna have a nice breakfast of bacon, eyes, and home frys before heading outdoors to shovel. Christ I hope that this is the last one. This is all heavy wet snow...:( A mans got do what a mans gotta do.

MichelinB welcome to are little thread. Like Snake said, when your here you always among friends. Here it's more of that you ride rather than what you ride. All are welcome. Beside the chat between one another we try to keep each other informed of the events in the different areas. Nice seeing ya... :D

Snake happy to hearing your getting your much needed rain... ;) Oh, and Snake thats not a helmet sticker. That's actually tattoo'd on the right cheek of Secrets ass. Don't worry baby I won't tell'm how I know. Your secret Secret is safe...

Hey Dinny sorry to hear about your carb problems. I rebuilt mine last year. At least your got to play with your other toy to get ya to ca.

Doc I hope your ok my friend.

Webbo enjoy that rid'n.

Well gonna run for now. I have some shovel'n to do. Looks like my St. Patty's dinner of corn beef and cabbage is gonna wait until tomorrow. I have a lady friend stopping by next week end. She is going to be in NYC for a seminar on Saturday morning then is going to stop by to say hi. Great lady we have a lot of fun together. Haven't seen her since late last summer. Need to get the place picked up. It's gonna be a busy week for me... :D

Want everyone to have a supper great week end. Stay warm, stay dry (with the except of Secret stay wet... ;) ), and stay upright...!

G-mornin' everyone,

...Glad to hear its at least slowed down jade, hope this is the last one for ya as well, my friend. I have been listenin' to the news, outta NY I think, and I rekon many travelers/flyers are not outta the woods yet. Will be hopin' that the spring thaw arrives soon.
...Not even sure how/what to reply to my mistake 'bout the helmet sticker. But I think I like it even more now... ;) ...(chucklin')
...Good to see ya back in dinny, hate to hear 'bout your carb problems. But ya got a perty fair ride in, before ya had to turn around. Hope ya get 'em lined out soon.
...Hope everyone has a great Saturday...probably gonna stay close myself all weekend, need to feed, and get some fire wood in, and like you jade, I hope this is 'bout the end....
Still wonderin' where webb is, and hope doc's plans weren't changed by the weather...
Take care everyone...

Ride safe, but ride.....

Hey Snake... :)

Your right about air travel here in the New England region. Most of which are still stranded in airport. Flight out of Boston don't exsist as of yet. Train and bus travel is at about a stand still. Everyone strand have been trying to get out by either bus or train...:( I understand that they wanna get out but unfortunately that will be difficult for the next day or two...!

Well just kicking back with a second cup of freshly made Dunkin Donuts coffee. Procrastinating on the snow removel detail The birds are visiciously attacking the bird feeders and suet feeders outside. I had two mated pair of cardinals now I have three, still have my four blue birds, now have a pair of blue jays, and god only knows how many wrens, finches, cat birds, sparrows, doves, etc... :D I can watch the eagles for hours. My yard looks like a seen out of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" ... ;) I can see were I will need to get more suet for the suet feeders today. I have to replace a couple of the bird houses in the yard this year. I think I'll add about 6 to 10 more. For me its relaxing to watch them. The babys are always so cute.

OK gang I'm outta here. Been lazy to long. Catcha all later... :D

OK now I'm beat...! I guess some where in the night it must have changed over to sleet and freezing rain. Before I could could shovel it up I had to break it up with ice chopper... :( That shit was heavy. Hot shower time again... :)

Hey Dinny I got a call from Ed in the video store... :D My copy of Anthony Hopkin's "The World's Fastest Indian" came in... :nana: I won't watch it tonight. I am going to hold off seeing that I watched it three times when I rented it... But it's a part of my collection. Hmmm what I didn't know that it was a re make of the story of Burt Munro. The original movie was call "Offering to the God of Speed" produced in 1971. The DVD has bonus footage take for the actual movie showing Burt at Bonneville... :) Wonder if Webbo has seen it. He's a kiwi... ;)

OK it's off to shower. Were is Secret? Since last night I hate to shower alone... Oh shit did I say that out loud...

OK gang have a super fantastic evening... :D

Good morning, everyone... :)

It's a cold but sunny morning here in Connecticut. At least it's not snowing... :)

Sorry Webbo about the mistake. I never fucked a dog but I HAVE nailed me some tight wet pussy... :D I wouldn't have a problem being called Canadian, lot of good friends that are Canadian... ;) Love ya Dumpling...

Hey, Doc your weekend at the wall should have been a interesting one with all those anti war demonstrators... ;)

Well this morning it's going to be a laundry morning. Then I have this afternoon to make a nice Irish corn beef and cabbage dinner. Complete with carrots, parsley / garlic potatoes, and Irish soda bread. I have been busy recently and haven't cocked anything health recently. Just quickie meals. Next weekend when Missy visits it's going to be nice thick marinated New York strip steaks out on the barbie.
I can't wait for warmer weather and the BBQ season. Still looking to through the first "Biker's run" cook out in May... :) I will post details here on the thread.

OK it's off to get everything going. Wanna wish everybody a great day... :D Catcha later!

Stay warm, stay dry, and stay upright... :)

RAFLMAO

good on ya mate

G-evenin' everyone,

...Been another nice day here in the western tip of the ol' dominion, bit cool, but nice none the less. Have had a good fire, watched/dozed, while watchin' the race. Just been a nice day to laze 'round the ol' homestead.
...Hope yours was a peacful weekend at the wall doc, I saw on the news earlier, all the protesters. Am sure there will be much more 'bout it thru-out the week.
...Like the sound of next weeks menu jade, NY strips are my favorite, and like you, lookin' forward to cookin' out. Also lookin' forward to gettin' out and campin', not sure how many here enjoy it, but I love it. Motels are nice, but all the folks ya can meet in a nice campground are well worth the lil' inconvenience. I always enjoy doin' most of the cookin', and campin' food, is much better then any food fixed in a kitchen.... ;)
...we also enjoy whos-line webb, runs in syndication a lot. I always thought it amazin', that these guys/ladies, can be that funny, and spontaneous. Hope ya find more episodes, it is a funny show. Hope Roz is enjoyin' her time on the bike, and hopin' ya find your way to get another, soon....
...Hope everyone has a great Monday, and it gets better for the rest of the week.... :) ...Reckon its s'pposed to be nice here perty much all week, if it stays this nice all week, may have to 'burn' a day 'bout Friday... ;)
...Everyone take care, and ride.....

...Ride safe, but ride....

went on a benefit ride for one of the guys that works at the harley dealership that i go to. sadly he lost his leg in a bike accident. we had about a hundred bikes show up and raised a good chunk of change to help him out. sucks to have that happen to such a nice guy.

Good evening, everyone... :)

Well today was a lazy day for me. Was going to do the laundry today but got caught up planning next week end with Missy. She is a great friend and unfortunately we don't get to see one another as much as we should. I will probably talk her into attending some of the "Biker's run" cook outs this summer. I will order some nice 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the meat department and make a nice south/western marinate. Goin with baked potatoes on the webber and corn. Of course I'll do a nice salad while waiting for the steaks to cook... :D

Actually I lied to ya. I did make the corn beef and cabbage dinner... :) The corn beef came out yummy. I'm not shore why I don't make it more often...

Snake sounds like you had as much energy as me today. There is nothing with a little down time for a change. A time to stop and smell the roses. I used to take the kids camping all the time. We used to tent camp with a 9 X 12 white stag tent. My son barrowed it one season and didn't dry it out before folding it and return it. Next season when I opened it up it was all mold and I had to get rid of it... Now all I have is a small two person nylon dome tent. Nothin like bacon, eggs, and home frys in the morning when camp'n... :D

Hey Ender, sorry to hear about your Harley dealer buddy's accident. He must have been a good guy. Sounds like he had a lot of friends.

Hey Doc, you never did tell us if you were take'n that new cutie down there with ya... ;) What wall... The two of them never left the hotel room I tell ya... Dam did I say that out load...!

OK gang gonna sign off. I picked up a high definition version DVD of Monty Phython's "The Holy Grail". Time to kill off the few brain cells I have left.

Have a great night.
