Good morning, everyone....

NYWings you are correct it is a picture perfect morning... With these chilly mornings I have seen a lot of hot air ballonists enjoy the morning. It is great to seem them cruising along through the air. I guess it's their way of getting their face into the wind...

Today is going to be a very busy day for me. Lots of running around. I have a dinner party in Fairfield this evening. I am not planning to stay out late. I want to get home early and get to bed. Want to do a little ride'n tomorrow morning before possible T-storms in the afternoon.

After a great deal of thought I have decided to put the screen house up for the cook out. It will provide greater coverage from the blaze'n sun and reduce the amount of bugs...

Well it's off to get the day started. Cyikac keep that naughty grin going! Want to wish everbody a super great day...

Doc...here's hoping your gal comes back better than new. I still wnat to get a ride on her though I will be picking up my..hmmm...is a woman's bike still a her or is it a him.... in about a weeks time after I figure out storage.

The location will be; my place in the sleep town of Woodbury, Connecticut nestled in the beautiful hills of Litchfield county...

Who is invited; the good members of Biker’s Run (and very naughty biker chic’s… )

Rule of attending; damned if I know…! We never had rules before…! This is like Vegas, what happens here stays here!

All joking aside this is your opportunity to meet some of the great people on this thread face to face. It will be a day good food, good friends, and good times. Just a day for you to relax in the warm sun with your extended family. No pressure and no egos! Just laughter and lots of fun.

of the Magnums that I us…!) such as; Ketchup, mustard, mayo, salt, pepper, etc.
. Paper plates, plastic cups, plastic eating utensils, and paper napkins.
. Ice.

Jaded has a supply of Mardi Gras beads for those naughty biker chic’s wanting to show or rub their tits against ol’e Jaded…

This will be the first in a series of Biker’s Run BBQ’s. They have always been about promoting friendships.

Although we love seeing your bike it is not necessary for those traveling long distances or those planning to drink a little to attend on a 2 wheeler. There are times when a 4 wheeler is a better choice than reading about you in the newspaper. Those planning to attend please PM me so your name can be added to the list attending.

So who else is planning to attend…

Be a part of this historic moment. A part of the legend of Biker's Run. Can you hang there with the best...? It will be something that your grand children will tell the story. I need to know before August 11th if your comings!

Now thats an interesting thought... Look at it this way. What would you call a 450 LB vibrator between your legs? a he or she?
Now for me I know my ride is a she... When I take her out on that open road she just purrs. We are united as one snaking through the turns and she responds to my slightest movement or desire. We can enjoy our journey wether we are just slowly enjoying the ride or pounding the turns hard. She never fails to respond to me and give me the pleasure I desire. When the day is done and we return from a long day I always give her a nice bath and stroke her beautiful body for her. Taking the time to be sure I don't miss a single curve. Now that she is clean ,dry and well rested from our journey I can gently cover her and let her rest till our next run together.

Hey Jaded,,, I'm looking forward to your pulled pork sandwiches and that JD cake for desert! I've enjoyed J D many ways but never in a cake so that will be a real treat!

I love ridin' the WHite Mountains! We had one fantastic week of riding.
Took a quick run up to Maine for some great seafood at the Muddy Rudder!
Fantastic place to eat. Looks real fancy but the prices were great and the seafood was out of this world. We were all dressed to ride but that didn't stop those folks from treating us like kings. I'll be back up there next year too.
Every year our first place to stop is right off exit 20 on I93 for a great lunch at this little 50's diner. From then on its ride and eat!

I think it was 2002 we got to see the "old man" ,,, When we went up in 2003 we heard they were trying to spruce him up a little and blasted him off the side of the mountain! Some times your better off leaving things alone!
Oh well , The old Indian is still there.

Maybe next year we can tip a few at the Broken Spoke.

Good morning, everyone...

It's a clear sunny morning here in the small New Englnad town of Woodbury, CT. It looks like we've got humidity coming back this today... I figure I'll get the lawn done this morning as there predicting scattered T-storms this afternoon and evening. That will free up tomorrow to get some ride'n in...

Looks like you enjoyed a nice ride NYWings. I have been through the White Mtns in a four wheeler with the kids on vacation and it is a very beautiful area. Found your picture. Very nice iron... The Jack Daniels cake is more like a pound cake. Should be interesting. I was watching a special on the Food channel (I love to cook) and they were visiting that gentlemen that makes these cakes and ships them to customers all around the world. So I tracked down a southern recipe. Figured I'd give it a shot. I am also preparing the pulled pork differently than most. Found a recipe in Southern living for Alabama smoked pulled pork. Cooking time is approx. 16 hrs in a smoker at approx. 200 degrees. I will keep the Tex/Mex BBQ sauce seperate. People can apply it to suit their taste! I absolutely love to cook for friends so this is fun for me... Nothing like a gathering of friends and laughter... There is a rule at my cook outs, if you walk away from my table hungry its your own fault ...!

The BBQ beef I am making takes about 12 hours to smoke as well..but I do it in the oven overnight at 200-250. The sauce makes use of the drippings and actually tastes better 2 or 3 days later which is why I'll make it on Monday or Tuesday.
The JD cake sounds interesting. I have tried variations of the Bacardi Rum cake, switching out the regular rum for flavored rums, liquers, etc. Wonder if JD would work. Which one do you use?
The slaw is a boiled vinegar based recipie I got from a cook out at the LBJ ranch in Texas. Seems it was one of ole Lyndon's favorites and it can withstand the heat. She used to make it and it would and could sit in a crock on the counter for up to a week. I never tried that but I make it a day ahead so the flavors can meld.
Like you I love cooking for friends and co-workers...hey got to use this culinary degree for something right?


NYWings...I remember making car trips to see the Old Man. Haven't been since the early 90's though. Cannot believe he is gone. Well at least the sleeping giant is still in Hamden..they can't screw that one up too bad...but then again. Sure miss living up north sometimes. I may live below the Mason-Dixon but I am still a yankee gal at heart.

The day has dawned though and the skies are so blue. Going out today to scout strage facilities to place my bike in as I do not have a garage. Either that or build a small storage shed to hold it. The only problem with one of those storage facilities is that they have limited hours and I need to find one with 24 hour access.

Good morning....

It is a absolutely beautiful morning here is the small New England town of Woodbury, CT. The sky is a clear blue and the birds are chirping. It feels like it is going to be another hot day today.

We had some T-storms pass through late yesterday afternoon into the early evening. They weren't what I classify as violent. They dumped about 1 1/2 inches of rain then disappeared. We are still below average rain fall. But the lawn is taking a nice green shade again.

Cyikac I guess I lucked out. I have a storage facility within a mile from me with 24 hour access, extremely well light at night, numerous security cameras monitor the sight 24 hrs a day, all thick steel construction on a thick concrete slab, electronic gate with security pad to enter your password to gain access, a 10 foot by 5 foot storage unit all for $62.30 a month. They keep the facility spot less. I like the idea that no one can get access to my bike other than me. Not that there is a hell of a lot of crime in my area... But it gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling to know...

Still another reminder about are 1st Biker's Run cook out. Come join us in the picturesque foothills of Litchfield county Connecticut. This is you opportunity to spend a relaxing day with the people you have come to know and love. There will be lots of laughter and fun. August 18th is not that far off. I need to know by August 11th who's attending. It will be a day of good food, good friends, and good times...

I like the storage shed idea the best. There are many companies that can deliver a 10x 10 shed to your yard and they can be very handy. Considering the monthly fee of a stoage unit you could justify the cost easily.
They can be picked up and moved at a later date if you decide to move. Most 10 x 10 units do not require any permits or increase taxes but you would be smart to check local laws first.
One small problem for me when it comes to a shed or garage. The more storage space I have the more I tend to fill it up with junk. I don't call the stuff junk but every one else does.

I am leaning towards buying a storage shed. Costco has a great one for about $800 made of steel and a high grade plastic that would work as I could put it just inside my fence. I built my own wood one (12 x 16) a few years ago but it is packed to the gills.
Looked around here but none of the payed storage places are 24 hours. And most of them will not let me store a bike cause of the fuel. I can leave it at the dealer for now though so I don;t feel in a hurry.

With being outside all this weekend and Monday after eating supper I sat down in my recliner to relax and watch a little TV. Ya know that the last thing I remember until 12 am...

Well I didn't have much of a choice with renting and only a small yard I needed a storage unit. Plus I really like the fenced in area and 24 hr camera security monitoring. I only had one 10' x 10' Craftsman steel storage shed and it didn't hold up well at all...

Morning All, Cyikac if it was in upstate NY I would go for a stick built one because the metal ones collapse here with the snow all the time. Where you are though the other type should be fine unless you get some major winds. I have a garage under the house which is heated so I am very fortunate.

Good evening, girls and boys...

Today was a long 10.5 hr day. I was to tired to cook supper so I called down to the San Remo restaurant and ordered a sausage grinder. The owner Chris is a cool guy. Rides a Harley ( when not busting his ass at the restaurant )...

Tomorrow it is supposed to rain. I think what I'll do is start a list of known items that I will need for are cook out. Then go buy the stuff. I'll set aside a little storage area to keep the party items. Nope no silly hats or noise makers!

Webbo I hope your winter holds out for you. We had a easy winter here in Connecticut this year to mate.

Hazeny I don't think Cyikac is to concerned with a heavy snow collapsing the metal shed. She lives in N. Virgina. The problem I had with the metall shed I bought was it had a sliding metal door. It ran along a metal track on rollers. The rollers would rust and sieze. I eventually got pissed off and bult a wooden door that swung out. The sheet metal wasn't a heavy enough gauge to support the wooden door and eventually became disformed. I got a case of the ass took it down and got rid of it. I wouldn't let snow build up on the roof I would knock it of as it accumulated.

Cyikac I like the steel trussels within the roof area. My shed didn't have that. But I would still go outside and remove the snow in a snow storm to get the weight off the roof never the less... However living here in New England I would be a little leary of polyethylene plastic in real cold weather. Having purchase several plastic trash cans because of cracking in cold weather. Living in N. Virgina this may not be a worry. I did purchase a small plastic storage unit some 10 years ago from Rubbermaid and it's still doing fine. I would look into seeing if these panels can be purchased seperately if there is a problem. Before placing this shed in its final resting place in your yard I would also put down a patio brick floor. This would reduce the build up of dampness in wet weather under your bike. I would think the need for keeping the moisture build up inside to a minium important.

Well gang I'm off to get my day started. Want to wish everyone a super great hump day. Now get out there and start humping...

Another reminder about are first Biker's Run cook out. The clock is ticking down. Don't wait to the last minute... It will be a fun day... Even the munchkin will be there...

I plan on building a wooden deck about 10 inches off the ground with a vapor barrier and pea gravel under it (out of pressure treated of course). Did this with my other shed and it came out great
The kit is expandable so when I move I plan on disassembling and taking it with me...wherever that may be

Yesterday was one very wet afternoon. We had a small tornado touch down yesterday here in CT. It tore up some trees and knocked out power in some areas. It is 70 degrees right now and very very humid.

Good morning. girls and boys...

It's a lazy morning here in the small New England town of Woodbury, CT. The street are quite, no traffic. Only the occasional bird chirping can be heard. It was a beautiful chilly night for sleeping last night.

Yesterday was my extremely beautiful grand daughter's first birthday... She was so excited at the party. My very handsome son and beautiful daughter in law had decided on a party outdoors. You can tell the inexperienced ones. The lack of organization... There was one small pasta dish, a tray of deviled eggs, three salads. and 5 bowls of potato salad (including mine). Now this was to feed forty people. I think super grandpa is going to have to take over the cooking side of the birthday party next year... But the keg of beer was ice cold... I can remember holding her at the hospital when she was born. She was not a premy but she was so tiny at 5 lbs 4 oz. How she has grown! She is trying desperately to walk. It's gonna be a whole new ball game once that occurs... It was cute yesterday she had more interest in the wrapping paper than the presents. Typical 1 year older.

Today I need to get the lawn cut and transplant my two pepper plants into large pots. The window box I have them in can't support them any longer. I never had any luck with pepper plants until this year... Tomorrow I have off and found a new Honda dealership in New Milford I want to go visit... They had four new gold wings on the show room floor.
