Scholarship implies acceptance. A school does not give out or offer a scholarship unless they have accepted you for admittance.

My oldest received several scholarship offers, but not a single one was offered before he applied.
Even he knew that. Any HS graduate smart enough to be going to med school should know that also.
But I don't know how huge of a deal it is since it would only impress the uneducated about those things work.
On the other hand, there does seem to be a pattern emerging.

A. It's not a regular college; it's a service school. Chances are very good that the word was out to recruit at least a token number of attractive (in several ways) blacks to the service schools in that time period--enough to promise likely candidates the world (and hopefully we've already established that "scholarship" is pretty meaningless with talking about a zero-cost tuition/room/board college).

B. Don't even try to tell me that football recruiters for universities don't promise prospective football standouts a free ride and the moon (and a naked woman swinging from it) before an application is filled out.

I'm about as shocked as hearing that Obama Vetoed the pipeline which only a fool would have thought for one minute he might not do. Hell, I knew it two years ago.

Nobody was shooting Carson because they didn't care. Same reason nobody is hunting Bobby Jindal. Or me. There's just no point, and not all of them are liars to a point that anybody gives a shit.

As for the Pipeline it's never happening, that ship just sailed. And most conservatives thought he was saving it for a rainy day. I admit I figured he'd sign off as soon as he ran out of good excuses.

I don't care that much. I was just reporting what they said on the news, which included a statement that politico.com had retracted the story, which seems odd if what you say is true. Are you sure the quote is valid.
