Casting Call for the land of L'anDanora.

Intimacy is fine in a non-SRP as long as it doesn't lead to graphic, stimulating content involving intercourse or "getting off" of some sort.

Well said, Wargarble.

And very well then, no reprimanding tonight. Maybe next week.

Mwahaha!

Step 1: Establish a good set of morally correct guidelines that everyone can agree upon and follow with little difficulty.

Step 2: Break them.

Let the reprimanding commence!

I have followed these people to the old keep. In wolf form, I take shelter from the rain under a very large tree. I will wait till the morning to follow them. It is too risky to try and get closer to them while they are in there. One of them has a scent that is very familiar. This person may be one of the ones that murdered my family. I will have my revenge, if this is true.

You may want to try writing in the third person like the rest of us to make the story flow better between posts. Just replace "I" with your character's name and describe any actions, thoughts or speech as someone else's (eg. "This person may be one of the ones that murdered my family" Nyme thought, taking shelter from the rain under a large tree).

I see no problem with her talking like that. It happens all the time. I think we have the mental power to understand what character is saying "I".

I agree with you, Leo, but I also think that her speaking in the third, rather than the first person will help with the flow, like Wargarble said. If she wants to keep speaking in the first person, that's fine. I'm not going to force her to change what comes natural to her.

I Agree (with Ancalimon, not myself, duh). I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, I just thought that it might make it easier to maintain the atmosphere of the story if we all write in the same way. In the end it doesn't really bother me, was just a suggestion.

3rd Person

Nyme toes a rock on the groung. "I'm sorry. I've never done this type of game before" Nyme says.

It's fine, Zanthurus. I have done D&D style RP before, and I know you speak as if you are the character. That's why I said that if it comes more naturally to you to speak in first person, then you can. If you're going to speak in the third person, just use either our posts or like the LOTR books as a guideline. Trust me, none of us are going to be mad at you. So, just do whatever feels best. I can't speak for the others, but I know that I don't bite...too hard.

Munch, munch... what? Oh, yeah, we don't bite, go for it! Really not bothered was just suggesting, so you can ignore that if you feel I'm putting you down at all.

As long as we can understand what your character is doing it doesn't really matter how you write it.

Nyme

Thank you for your support. I will keep trying to do the right thing. I ussually pick things up pretty fast. I'm not doing this doing this to improve my writing skills, but because it looks like fun.

Hey, guys, just a warning right before I post IC, but I'm about to bring in a new thing to the thread. He was technically concealed, because he doesn't always travel with Namennarg, but he is a Familiar. His stats are:

Name: Dragar
Sex: Male
Age: ???
Race: Snake
Profession: Familiar
Weapon: Poisonous bite. Not very deadly at all, but does cause disorientation, and allows Dragar to get away. Since he is a Familiar, the venom is magical, and thus can act very quickly.
Spells: Can be sent by Namennarg with someone, and used as a sort of two way communicator. Can be summoned back to Namennarg, but not teleported away.
Looks: 5' long, silver on his belly, and black on his back. His eyes are also black.

A safe assumption woud be that you describe what kind of attack or ability you are trying to perform on someone/something but leave the end of the action open.

Example: Naden was tired of listening to the old man beg for his life. He brought his sword down in an arc towards the man's neck.

You say what you are doing but don't write a conclusion like "severing his head cleanly" but rather leave that up to whoever controls the other character. They decide if it makes sense that their character would get hurt/killed or if they are in a position to effectively defend or evade the attack.

Example: The old man waited until the last minute before bowing his body low, the blade swinging past overhead. He sprung back up, dagger in hand and seething with fury.

or

Example: The edge of Naden's sword bit into blesh and bone. The old man gasped in pain, a final "damn you" gurgling past his lips along with much of his own blood before he collapsed on the ground.

It all depends on how good the person playing your opponent thinks their character is and if you can catch them in a situation where they are in a disadvantage, like when they are sleeping :).

Well, I'm not really too sure how other people on here do it. I think it basically goes something like this:

Joe: Joe attacks Sally with his sword, aiming for her right arm.
Sally: Sally sees the attack coming, and ducks to avoid it. She lashes out for Joe's ankles with her own sword.
Joe: Joe jumps to avoid Sally's sword.
Thread Creator: Joe lands on a log, which causes him to loose his balance.
Sally: Sally takes the opportunity to kick Joe's legs out from underneath him.
Joe: Joe lands on his back, and covers his face with his shield.
Sally: Sally puts the point of her sword against Joe's stomach, and threatens to disembowel him if he does not submit.
Joe: Joe submits, handing Sally his sword.

Or, at least, that's what I think would happen. I'd prefer to have no character-on-character fighting, if it can be avoided. Ultimately, I guess if two character's do fight, it comes down to me to give one of them a disadvantage. Obviously my example is simplified. However, if there is an NPC we're fighting, I will control them. Characters may become incapacitated, but I don't think I'll ever kill a character, unless that character does something like sacrifice themselves to save everyone else.

It could be. I just wish Tia could post IC more often, because my character is interacting with hers the most.

I feel your pain. I keep joining more RP's because the ones I'm already in tend to either slow right down or stop completely, annoying as hell.

What do you mean by stories? I mean, I started this thread. Other than that, I think Tia has one that she started a while ago, but nobody responded to it. I posted a response in her thread, but nothing has come of it. I'm waiting for "Into the West" to start. As for the other people, I don't know.
