Oh, for sure - I guess your mileage might vary. For what it's worth, I'm going to go with 'you've never tried it but like to imagine', and stick to my original statement that anything rubbing against the skin chafes eventually. It's true for shoes, for badly sewn clothing, it's true for your socks if they get wet or sweaty or you just walk really far. I'm 100% certain it's also true for plugs and chastity devices.

I agree that there is a big difference between life and porn. But that doesn’t mean some don’t live the life.

Wearing things can cause hot spots. It does depend on the quality of the item. It's obvious that you didn't read my response fully. I am locked in a quality cage 24/7/365. Allowed to unlock once a week for grooming. The only chafing I've ever had was from low quality cages. The same goes for plugs. It takes time and money to find what works for the individual person.
