90s Goth. Lace with leather, bows and stitches and flashes of deep red. Forget the skulls and roses.

Funny story, not really. Where I live lice is a thing. It's common. It's not because of being gross, it's because of where I live. There was an outbreak so I was making sure my kids didn't have them and it made my scalp itch. That night I was feeling uncertain and I was paranoid after spending hours combing through my kids' hair. I asked my ex-husband if I should wear a bag on my head (because one way to kill them is douse your hair in cooking oil and sleep in a grocery bag) and he laughed. 'You aren't that ugly.'
