Comments That Make Your Day

You know when I say that Loving Wives gives some of the best, most useful comments? This right here on At the End of the Tour:

Yes, I enjoyed this story more than Funeral Dirge for a Fairy Tale; however, both do have merit and are aptly named. So kudos!

We all construct our identities in a specific way and clearly, Ellie has deemed herself a princess and Tim the shining knight. But reality is different, as we see. And good on Tim. The truth is that you don’t want to be known as “the nicest” or “the best” because those aren’t in-the-trenches reality. People are thoughtless at times, forgetful, and sometimes lazy. You shatter your own bubble when you idolize someone and create a permission structure on that flawed characterization. “So and so would never…” well, they might. And Tim did.

Shit, I kind of wish I'd written that in an actual story. Now I gotta paraphrase. :D

A great comment on FIDO:

Very funny story, blessings be to the great bone maker in the sky!

Interestingly, dogs are quite adept at reading human body language and there’s a lot of prefrontal cortex action in the presence of humans. They do actually love their families. Cats on the other hand…

Brilliant story. It makes me wonder if there are women in that situation who could be cured. And it pointed out how evil and horrible rape is. I loved the story but it was a tear jersey for sure. Well done.

10 big blazing stars for a Very traumatic and sad story, yet sounds very realistic. I expect you will get down voted because of not having a 'happy ending' but as much as we all like a Happy Ending, not isn't very realistic in this case. The poor wife, Cheryl, was severely mentally damaged in her attack. She had an orgasm so it really fucked her up with guilt and she needed more of the same thing to be satisfied again. It was a very sad tale showing that even love, understanding, and a shrink couldn't help the poor wife. The sad ending was probably the best we could expect. Due to so many factors. But a Great Effort to our writer, thank you. Buster2U

This gives me hope that I might actually learn to WRITE!

I received the following e-mail comment for my story "Aftermath, or "I Can't Go for That"":

Comments:

I Can't Go For That. This is the first of your stories that I have read and it is prompting me to read more of them. What a sad and poignant story!
It occurred to me as I was reading the final paragraphs that Cheryl and Paul had one life, having been together from early childhood. To that end, I don't think we appreciate how gut-wrenching their last days together must have been. This is a well-written story, masterfully presented.
If I may suggest, there is so much unwritten here about what Cheryl must have endured, from the night of her abduction through the therapy and her inability to communicate with Paul until she finally left. Perhaps you can fill us in.
Thanks for a helluva story!

All I can says is "WOW! Thank you for your comment!"

WARNING: The story is about the aftermath of her abduction. Although I minimized the details relating her experience, don't open it if such a noncon theme might bother you.

Sometimes, it is the anon comment that causes one to pause and smile, then bask in the warmth it radiates:

I had to laugh at this one:

You seem to use the word "anyways" a lot more in your stories than the value of the word really warrants. You used it 9 times in this story alone. That's quite a lot for a word that a lot of people would hardly use from one decade to the next, if ever.

Dude has clearly never met me or, like, anyone I've ever spent time around before.

On a more serious note, I found another wonderful compliment, this time on another writer's story. TheUnoriginalist only ever graced us with two stories across five chapters, both a decade ago, but they were great additions to the LW canon. While I was searching for another story (which ended up being by ohio, another one of the greats), I found this comment on the last chapter of A Boilerplate Rendering:

Not sure why all the vitriol from the other commenters but I found this story incredibly emotional, painful to the parties involved. Except for the kids, which was the point of the MC’s suffering after all. The writing style reminds me a bit of NoTalentHack’s, another fine writer.

This author’s been unseen for a decade now. Would be wonderful if they wrote again.

I can't think of a finer compliment than to be compared favorably to those who've come before.

I'm in two minds about this one that I just got on The Dome 02: Sky Above:
hope you finish the story soon, don't leave us readers hanging, I hate those writers that never finish their stories or take way too long to post again
On the one hand, it's great that the reader is so excited about the story. On the other... this feels a bit like an ultimatum. Yes, I'm already working on the next chapter. But I also have half a dozen other stories in the works, and sometimes I don't feel like writing at all.

The fact that the two stories in the series got hit with very mediocre scores shortly before this message was posted is even more of a head-scratcher.

Well, all of my stories are on "Loving Wives," so most of my comments tend to be negative. I do get quite a few positive readers too. But I love it when I am able to change someone's mind on the specific topics of my stories. So, this anonymous reader left a comment on my latest story https://literotica.com/s/she-couldnt-stop-epilogue that made my day:

Thought-Provoking and Well-Written, Despite Personal Reservations

I recently completed this series and while I must admit that the subject matter isn't typically my cup of tea, especially all the cheating and adultery, I was genuinely surprised by the quality of the writing and the overall storytelling.

The narrative explores complex relationships and desires, which, at times, can be challenging to digest. But what really kept me engaged was the author's skill in creating rich, multidimensional characters who felt entirely real. The emotional depth and character development were exceptional.

The writing was engaging and well-crafted, which speaks volumes about the author's writing prowess. Despite my personal reservations about the storyline, I couldn't help but be drawn into the world they created. The pacing was spot on, and the plot kept me intrigued until the very end.

While the subject matter might not be everyone's cup of tea, I believe that this story is an excellent example of how talented storytelling can breathe life into even the most challenging of narratives. It's a story that challenges societal norms, explores the complexities of human relationships, and keeps you thinking long after you've finished it.

I might not have expected to enjoy it, but I did. Kudos to the author for their remarkable storytelling ability, even when handling a topic that might not be for everyone.

As a reader of the series I don't want it to end soon. Another chapter soon would be great, but as long as we are getting another chapter I'll wait patiently. (I'm following DakotaWrites Earth, Sun, and Moon Saga which has just got chapter 13 after nearly 3 months and started 10/20/2022!) Good writing is always worth the wait!

Always a disincentive for the author to put their metaphorcal shoulder to the wheel, or their imagination to the keyboard.

From the time I published my first story, or was it the second, I have wondered about readers who click a subject (i.e. Group Sex) then comment that they don't think the MC should have had multiple partners.

Thanks. :)

I know where the story is going, and I'm enjoying writing it. I just don't want to be chained to one story, or one category.

Yeah, I get a bit bolshy when people start to become too demanding. Respect is a two-way street.

Several comments on my Flesh for Fantasy series.

@Klitomatic wrote this on "Flesh for Fantasy":
Stumbled on this, glad I was clumsy. Great descriptive writing, 5 stars when you fuck her.
And shortly after they added this on "Flesh for Another Fantasy":
It felt like I was in that other room watching, so well written. Oh, and here's the five I promised when you fucked her.
Thanks! If you ever read this comment, be sure to check out this instalment of "The Jenna Arrangement" by @Djmac1031, which describes the scene from the point of view of the watching couple.

And @litfan10 also added a comment on the latest instalment in the series, Flesh 4 Fantasy:
Two things I liked the most - the pacing was well done and the emotions were far reaching and very nicely understated and developed.
Oh yeah, the sex scenes were nice and steamy and well described.
I would have liked more of an after view of our narrator and Linda at work post weekend but loved the charming and sweet ending you gave us.
Nice job.
Thank you! I thought about including a meeting with Linda and Matt during check-out, but I decided it would complicate things too much. Mel would recognise them, or their voices at least, and it would interfere with the happy ending I had in mind. And as for an encounter at work, well, we'll just have to see. All kinds of things can happen during an off-site, can't they?

A really nice comment from @26thNC on The End of Our World (spoilers, if you're concerned with that kind of thing):

Yet another great story with cheating, swinging, r***, violence, and possible nuclear war packed in. NTH, I don’t usually like the really long stories, but this one was so entertaining that I didn’t even skim it. The inbound nuclear missiles thing was an outstanding plot mover to bring out the cheating wife. Mari turned out to be a hollow shell of the woman he thought she was. Shimi was a complex character who turned out to be Dave’s true love. All the peripheral characters were well done and enhanced the story. It was an epic story that solidified my conviction that you are the best writer currently posting in Loving Wives.

Just got this one on Chapter One of Guilty Pleasures:
A thousand thank you’s for writing about a man who doesn't have a huge cock! Almost all the other writers seem to think they can't write an interesting story without a male protagonist who is hugely hung. Sometimes they make their character a little modest about his 9” cock (I’m waiting for the line, “It's only about as big around as a beer can, but it's long.”), but they can't pull off a story without that.

I'm happy to give you five stars. On to Chapter 2.
I appreciate the comment, and especially his proposed line. But assuming he finishes Guilty Pleasures and goes on to some of my other work, I do hope my new reader won't be too disillusioned when he hits Alistaire...

Regarding "It's only about as big around as a beer can, but it's long.”), but they can't pull off a story without that." Joanmcarthy has a character described as such, but it's a bit of a curse until one woman decides that she likes the man enough to train herself to take it. I incorporated the problem of being too big in my stories A&C 05: Donna Exposed and the flip side A&C 06: Thor's Story, but Eric (aka Thor) is never described except as being 'too big'. Sadly not many comments! 😢 Luckily for him Donna, a mere "five feet thirteen in my stocking feet", and can tame it.

Got this one today for my story "The Many Loves of Anna Marie":

This is the first time I have ever posted and may be my last. However, I felt it necessary to offer my praise to the author. I started reading this story simply for the eroticism. However, sometime during the reading I found myself more intrigued and interested in the non-erotic story that took place. I am an avid reader, reading 150-250 novels a year, and never has a story on Literotica done this to me. I must say that was an amazing experience and I praise the author's ability to do that.

Our friends son said to his older sister this morning in teenage wisper that was heard across the street . I like Kim she cooks does the dishes makes the beds and has great boobs for an old lady. My husband and their parents had to laugh

This comment wasn't on one of my stories (it was on Pluna's Bad idea!) but it caught my eye in the "latest comments" section by a sheer fluke of timing:

"Jesus — unbelievably intense, so erotic; great dialogue/introspection and pace. First of your writing I’ve read after THBGato’s recommendation; will not be last (and thanks, THBGato). Hope you have more to share in 2024. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️"

Really chuffed to know that when I recommend another writer in my stories/author's notes I'm not just shouting to the wind.

"Great story. Really well told. I appreciate all the thought and backstory you put in! Your words let my imagination fill everything in, enough detail to let everything flow but enough gaps to let me make the characters my own. I admit I saw your comment on ShelbyDawn's latest work and was intrigued. Glad I looked, this was excellent for your first foray into this corner of Literotica. You write really well, I'll be looking into your other stories!"
