Comments That Make Your Day

I thought I'd get a few negative reviews on my last story, and I've been pleasantly surprised that hasn't happened yet, but I'd single out a comment by @liliput1 for making my day, because it isn't about the story or the writing, but one of my regular characters who loves to cause trouble.

Tiff always has a mind of her own, and this comment made me laugh.

(Edit because the forum lost the image?)

I firmly believe Tiff believes she is creating opportunities, not causing trouble.

But her friends also take a beat or two outside the bar preparing themselves for whatever chaos she is about to instigate.

Literally made my day to wake up to these this morning:

From Anonymous on My Best Summer Mistake:
Transcendent. Maybe even better than The Garage Girl. I can recommend both of these to my wife whom I think believes me to be some kind of retrograde reading so much Literotica. The writing here near flawless. That tells me you are wise to have beta readers giving you feedback. Please keep writing if you can stand continuing to work for free. Though I imagine this is great exercise for other fiction writing considering it gives you an audience.
Joke's on them. I have no beta readers, wise or otherwise.

From a new follower on Bee Witched:
stories like this one are the reason I continue to roam literotica in the hope that hidden between all the generic, badly written slop with - to quote neil innes - "as much imagination as a caravan site", there might be another gem of a writer who truly deserves the title. Sir, please take coignance that I will now enter the rabbit hole of your works, and hopefully stay inside for a long time.
Ain't it great when a new follower starts reading though your works?

Your level of engagement is fucking bonkers quite impressive. I'm glad you decided to jump back in and keep writing, as I am any time someone stops for a bit, then returns (I have a great deal of sympathy for when that happens). And clearly, quite a lot of other people are very, very happy to see that as well.

Great writing. I rarely get as involved in the narrative as I did in this story. It was like I was there. Thank you.

Nice to read about a loving wife.

Alls well, that ends well.

Logged in and saw some lovely comments on my last chapter. Grateful for the support.

Inspiration from the Piney Woods is an interracial story set in the rural pineywoods of Alabama back in the day.

A labor of love in writing this story. It draws on firsthand experiences and flashes of insight from days and months spent with guys in the military, and their perspectives on southern life.

Kind of makes me think I write better than I think I can.

“Very very moved by your story. Firstly as it was highly erotic in many areas and aspects, Secondly for you descriptive ability to take us to where he grew up and allow us to understand the attitudes and emotions during the stories time and place. I am from the north but worked, lived and married in the southern states. Those three years exposure allowed your story to pull me right back to the red dirt roads and the tense white-black relationships. I hope you are proud of your literary ability to transport readers. Well done. MjB”

Recently got this comment on my story Savannah's Violation Reenacted

This isn't hot to me, but the psychology of it is so interesting.

Of course I would have preferred that he/she also found my story hot, but the fact that regardless they were intrigued by the psychological aspects was rewarding.

I got these two this morning, in the same batch, on my OnTheJob entry:

Excellent writing, and just enough surrounding story to make the sex seem plausible. A writer to look out for.m

I’m seldom negative because it takes bravery to put your stories up, but I lost interest halfway down page1. The tedium and the economics of a campsite proprietor. It made it feel like work to me! You don’t need to start straight into the action but you do need to capture our interest.

Just goes to show that you can't please everyone. But it's nice when the comments 'balance out' :)

The greatest comments I can think to get are, and I'm paraphrasing, "Well, now kinda I'm curious about this non-human nonsense."

No greater feeling for someone writing a niche like mine than drawing in people who wouldn't otherwise give it a first glance, much less a second. They might end up not liking it, but the fact that I can at least make someone curious about a topic that weirds out quite a lot of people? Fuck yeah

The old Community, "This better not awaken anything in me."?

I've awoken things in a couple people. One of my favorite comments of all time was someone thanking me for validating that they're a furry.
Furries are a fun event. We get them here every year. Interesting to watch and talk to. Some of the costumes are mind-boggling, and the costs...5-10k for the more expensive ones. Add in a lifestyle that has you flying from city to city, along with the attendant hotel costs, and it's an expensive lifestyle.
Although running around in the middle of summer in a hot costume...?

Yeah, I could never do it. But at least I figured out my fursona is an archaeopteryx if I ever get the inclination.

I mean, uh, I'm an archaeopteryx, and my fursona is human.

😁
