Comments That Make Your Day

So I had this comment:

автокатастрофа?? а так все супер

...and I feel like I should be putting it in the "Cyrillic" thread. I have absolutely no idea what it means. It didn't quite make my day, but it did amuse me.
Literal translation, according to Google Translate is "car accident?? and everything is great"

I confess anything like that I've simply deleted as spammy. I write in English, and if somebody actually read it, they're capable of responding in English. Otherwise, it's just spam to me. I can't be bothered to try and translate them.
(I believe his story contained Russian test as well)

Yep, that's what I got. Given that the story was set in a medieval fantasy world, I assumed Google Translate missed a nuance. Either that, or the comment was too profound to be easily understood.

I don't get a lot of traffic on The White Room Revisited, but as a sequel to a year old story, I knew that going in.

So it's nice when someone comes along and leaves a kind comment on it:

totally entertaining. And since I am hear to escape reality for a bit I am glad I find a story that I can suspend beliefs and "reality". Great job. I loved it. thank you so much for your time and writing!

“You are truly an imaginative writer, I have read a half-dozen of your stories, and all have been original and easy to read.
You have a great way of developing your characters.”

A comment like this makes it all worthwhile.

Eldritch Pact. I didn't mention it by name, because I never stop banging on about it. :ROFLMAO:

Putting it on my To Do List.

Congrats on getting a rave review from them, BTW.

They're tough cookies. They totally picked apart my review submission. But hey, I did ask for it, and they had some valid points.

Thank you!
Honestly, I was really expecting a fair amount of criticism. No story is perfect, and I was bracing myself for a tough reception. I was super heart warmed by the review.
When I put it up for review in its own thread, it got mixed reviews... so I was expecting similar results.

BOY, was I elated by their response.

Received the quote below from a noteworthy Lit writer regarding my story Grampy Taught Me Every Thing I Know. It deals with a young lady who finds her Grandfather's garden vegetables to be highly entertaining – sort of a whimsical tale that had one anon person leaving me stunned by asking, "Where is the sex?" and another noting that not every story has to be laced with porn-level imagery.

[I just need two more 5* votes to eek over the 4.5 hot level to make it 29 hot stories in my total count.];)

"What an absolutely unique plot and so well written. I don't often read incest stories but this one was well worth it. 5*"

While technically not a story comment, this came to me yesterday as a DM and made my day:

My latest story posted to Loving Wives is "What Were You Thinking?" It has received the expected reception in LW with a majority of hateful comments and an average rating of 3.16 (from 863 raters!)

One anonymous comment gave a lengthy critique of my writing, the story line, and comparisons to the general LW story lines. But the critique ended with:
--------------------------------
My favorite part of this work? This magnificent sentence: ["No. It's not spying, but exploiting ignorance," I replied calmly.] The confrontation? Perfectly written considering the personalities and quirks of the two main characters. This type of writing is lost on 99% of the commenters, but I think many of the thousands who anonymously read this will appreciate it. Character-driven fiction is hard to write and the best to read. You aced it! Carl Sagan Level Stars for this work.
--------------------------------

I believe that line (in bold by me) says something I've tried to point out to other authors who are discouraged by the haters: The hater is merely one voice out of 8 billion on the planet.

Some others out there like it.
