Thor

One of the two guards is a young woman who gives you a cheeky smile and says, "Thrilled." The senior guard just nods. "Come back for them on your way out. Knock on the main doors and the butler will let you in."

The main doors are on the other side of the courtyard. The heavy brass knocker makes a hollow boom. Soon a man comes and opens the door. He nods at you, "You wish to see Lord Tarik? I'll take you to his study, sir."

Ezmi

The man nods. "I'm Captain Argyle Pierce. Melda only gives out my first name if it's important. What do you need me to do for you, Miss ....?" He motions to the guards and they step outside, closing the door.

Drec:

I looked up at the man. Honestly I felt as if something inside of me was rising and I wished to tell him so, but as I rolled onto my side a small spew of vomit flowed from me.

"A bit nauseous actually." I had apparently gone on a very strange trip. If I could have similar experiences at the other temples, that was more then enough reason for me to cancel my trips.

"So who are you, and what happened to the woman?"

Thor nods politely to both guards as they let him through. Walking to the main doors and entering, he meets up with the man and heads to the Lords's study. Reaching there he intoduces himself firmly with an out stretched hand.

"Thor at your service, I come about your little sewer problem. I would show you my fine weapons as proof of my skills but your guards seem to have stripped me of them."

Drec

He smiles patiently at you and quicly fetches a damp cloth to clean you up. "I am the high priest of Ehlonna, the woman you just saw. It isn't often that she takes a special interest someone who comes in. It has been a long time since my goddess has visited here personally. She has many worshippers to watch over. You may call me Endro, Endro Tarik."

He helps you to your feet. "I'm sure you have many questions. Perhaps you would prefer to sit in the sun while we speak and let the light dispel any disturbing visions."

OOC: Congratulations, Drec can now multiclass to druid.

Thor

The Lord Tarik is a middle-aged man. His hair is red, but has started to go white at the temples and in his mustache. He appears stern and serious.

He speaks quietly, but with authority. "I prefer not to have guests bearing weapons. Assassins have become far to common in this city. My little sewer problem involves a sewer worker who was found dead and partially eaten. The site was examined by a ranger, who believes it to have been done by a carrion crawler. Therefore, I am offering a reward of 1000 gold coins for any person or group who can track the creature to its lair and dispose of it. You would have to bring me the head as proof. Are you still so determined?"

Thor nods and grunts at the thought of assassins as the man continues to speak.

"Half eaten you say? Must have been quite a weak fighter. I think I can get together a hearty group, by tommrow at the latest. If that isent too late for you that is. I'll try my best to nab that beast tonight though. Where might the sewer entrance be?"

Once the two finish talking Thor gulps a portion of the dwarven ale. He offers some to Lord Tarik before returning it to his waist.

Giving a courtious bow to Captain Argyle, Ezmi steps closer. "Melda mentioned that you might offer my party and I a place to stay... Also, she warned me that the old woman we were previously employed by has been meddling with some dark powers. One of my party is in her company right now. If what Melda said is true, I am concerned for my party members safety..."

Drec;

IC: "That sounds best. My head is spinning, and this is why I stopped drinkng."

L'oh

IC:
"I wouldn't mind pushing a cart around at all," L'oh said. Giving a moment's thought, she added, "However, I have some... things I would rather keep with me and not let anyone know I have them. That's why I turned down your lockbox offer. They are much too valuable to me to just leave somewhere alone, no matter how secure the device may be, and they are to unwieldly to go carrying about while I work. Let me think about it while I clean up, but I think I will reconsider taking that lockbox afterall. Also, I would require no less than 4cp for my work. Trust me, you won't be dissapointed."

All

Thor:

Lord Tarik scribbles out a quick note and seals it. “Here, give this to one of the guards in front. They’ll take you to the sewer entrance and give you directions to the place where the body was found.”

He refuses your ale. “I need to keep a clear head. You might need one as well, if you plan to tackle the beast. As to how long it takes you, that is up to you, but someone else may slay the creature and claim the reward if you tarry too long.”

OOC: Let’s have another Fortitude save for Thor, please.

Ezmi:

The captain nods. “Melda explained the situation to me. I wanted to see whether you would tell me yourself. Your friend has nothing to fear for the moment. Gertren rids herself of inconvenient help by sending them on perilous quests unprepared rather than any overt attack. We don’t know who her employer is, but I believe that he may be a higher figure in the mage’s guild. She imports various poisons and articles of dark magic, as well as doing some regular smuggling. Would you help us catch her? If not, then I must advise you to stay away from her, or we may very well meet again in less pleasant circumstances. I’m afraid that the offer of lodging was a bit of a blind on Melda’s part. I do have an old house to rent out, but I doubt that any of you would particularly care to stay there. On the other hand, if you’re interested, I could show the place to you after my shift.”

Drec:

He walks you to a set of chairs outside and gestures for you to be seated. He gives a brief whistle and an acolyte arrives with a mug of water for you. The young man looks at you with a touch of awe and quickly hurries away. “Well, what would you like me to tell you?”, asks the priest.

L’Oh:

She nods. “That seems fair enough, lass. I’ll give you the key to your box. Mind that you return it. It’ll be the third from the door in the bunk hall.” She hands you a small iron key. “If you help, you’ll get your coppers in the morning as well as any tips the patrons toss your way.”

Thor takes the sealed note and nods along to the Lord as he refuses the ale.

"Quite alright my good man, just thought I would offer. I handle my ale quite well and it doesent effect me like the common man."

He laughs outloud and takes another swig.

"I shall be off to slay this beast."

Thor heads off to the guard and hands him the sealed note.

"Shall I be returned my weapons now while you show me the sewers."

Fort: 1d20(13)+8= 21

(Told you he can handle his ale....:p )

"She did, did she? I trust she didn't go into too much detail about last night... As far as your test of my character, sir, I feel no reason to conceal anything reguarding my envolvement with... Gertran... What an awful name, no wonder she's evil. It is a relief to hear that Leanna is safe for the moment, I had some concerns about her. We've already lost one member, and it would not be a good thing if this trend were to continue." Ezmi put in as she turned to the side, to consider the captains offer.

"I can only speak for myself on this matter, but yes, I would be glad to render whatever assistance I may. If what you are saying is true, it would seem that the old hag was counting on us all dying on her little mission, and that is certainly not a quality that I like in my employers, former or otherwise." Ezmi clenched her fists over the thought of Gertran's possible betrayal. She thought of her clan and what they had done to her as well. Anger flared in her eyes, then cooled again, shortly there after at the mention of the house.

"What, is the house haunted or something? Even still, from the looks of it we won't have any other place to stay, so yes, if you please, do show it to me after your shift."

L'oh

IC:
"Why thank you!" L'oh says as she pockets the key. "And, before I go, what is your name? My name is Liza. Liza Bardone."

After talking to her, L'oh makes her way down to the hall to the lockbox. Placing her important items inside, she fastens the lock securely, double checking to make sure it's shut tight. She takes out her spare peasant outfit and procedes to the washroom. Heating the water to a comfortable temperature, L'oh washes thoroughly, then washes her muddy clothes. After dreasing, she goes back to her room and carefully hangs her clothes to dry. Finally, she take out her important items, hides them in a seemingly inconspicuous place, and locks the box and hides the key.

Finishing getting ready, L'oh walks out to begin work. Taking a deep breath, she steps forth into the tavern area and seeks out the woman from before.

(OCC: BrnEyedGrl83 do you want to come with me to fight the carrion crawler in the sewers. I dont know if he started you off at level 2 or not. But its much needed exp and gold. What class are you by the way? This offer goes out to others as well, I just assumed everyone else was busy with their own things. )

Drec

OOC: Honestly, I havn't been a deep read mode and have only ocasionly glanced at what every one else has been doing. So my logic is simple, get back to as much of the group as possible. So I am going to work my way in that direction, now that I am invited.

IC: I drank the mug in gulps trusting in my ability to keep it down. "At this point, I am not sure what you should say if anything. I think I need some time for what has just happened to settle in, and if not I think I can do with some fresh air and a walk. So if you have no objection, I am going to head back to the inn I am staying at."

I stood up and walked over to the priest. I offered my hand to him. "The name is Drec and its been a pleasure."

Job offer

OOC:
Brains-
I'd love to join you. I am a Lv. 2 Rogue. There might be some problem meeting in-game because of distance. I don't know exactly where you are, and in L'oh's morning, she will be setting out for a new city, provided I haven't joined any other missions.

(BrnEyedGrl your in the inn that we all agreed to meet at I thought? The silver charger inn the same one that Cats is heading to at the moment. After I finish up with the guard I can head there and collect you both if you want to come with me. If either of the other two want to come as well just meet in the inn.)

OOC: Sorry for the lack of DMing, but it's been a very full week. I'll try to handle the backlog later tonight or tomorrow. Curse you, foul assignments!

Ooc:

Well DoS come monday I finish my training to become one of your enemies, a Subsitute Teacher. So very shortly I will be telling students, "Do problems 20 to 236 for home work tonight."

Thor

The guard cracks open the note and nods. Your weapons are returned to you and he takes you through a network of small streets to a small building. He unlocks an iron gate, allowing entry to the place, which consists basically of a roof over a spiral staircase which leads down. A faint rank odor pervades the air. "If you take the stairs down and follow the passage, you'll come to an intersection. Take the left branch and then the second right to find the place where the body was discovered. The sewerers marked it with a green flag." He then hands you a key, similar to the one he used. "Lock the gate every time you go down and every time you leave. We don't want any children trying to explore down there." With that, he leaves you to find your own way back.

OOC: Thor has no trouble finding his way back and he shouldn't have a problem locating the entrance in the future.

Ezmi

Argyle snorts. "A name isn't everything, Ezmi. The sorceror Argyle of legend slew many a virtuous hero. I've yet to follow in his footsteps. I've heard about your comrade. That's what tipped Melda off to who you were working for."

"If you're willing, I'd like to send one of my people in with you the next time you visit Gertren. You can pretend that he's one of your group and he'll gather the information I need."

His eyes widen slightly as she asks about the house. "How did you know? I haven't figured out how to get rid of the ghosts. They don't attack anyone, but the screams and moans are enough to put your hair on end. No-one sleeps a wink in that place. Hell, I'd let you stay for free if you could get rid of the spooks, or even get them to be quiet."

L'Oh

The woman responds with a cordial bow. "I'm Katrin Elreesa and my husband is Damec."

L'Oh manages to get much cleaner than she was before. She conceals her posessions (as specified in your messages). Her nook of the common bunkhouse quickly starts to resemble a laundry, but no-one else is there to complain.

As she steps out into the Tavern, she is greeted by a tremendous hullabuloo. The dinner crowd is considerable and the place is crammed to bursting. Katrin rushes by holding a big tray of drinks and puts it down at a table. The people at the table appear to be merchants by their dress and they seem to be dickering over the price of goods.

On her way back to the kitchens Katrin looks at you and blinks, "...Liza. I scarcely recognized you, you've tidied up so nicely." She rushes by with a grin, "Follow me. You can help me carry the meals for all of these folk."

Drec

OOC: Can do. As for the substitute teacher crack, they aren't my enemies. School ADMINISTRATORS are the people who irritate me. I might very well do some substituting myself in the near future.

IC: He nods and grasps your hand firmly, giving it a quick shake before letting go, "Very well, Drec. Come if you have any questions. Just ask any of the acolytes and they will fetch me for you."

It's getting late as you reach the inn, the supper crowd is prodigious and the noise hits you as you step in the door. The barkeep is running back and forth like mad and you see the serving woman heading for the kichen and beckoning for another woman to follow.

Drec, L'Oh and Thor

OOC: Drec and L'Oh are at the inn already. I will use my non-linear story powers to see that Thor, as well as any other party members who express interest in this venture arrive there soon after.

OOC: BrnEyedGrl, I'm afraid that I'm going to have to ask L'Oh to stay in this city for the moment. Generally all the characters stick together most of the time, seperating for down time and the occasional personal goal. I can't possibly keep up with all of you if I'm DMing 5 different adventures all the time. It would involve both more time and a greater splitting of focus than I can handle all the time.
