I was almost as bad tonight coming up from the lake. I was more exhausted from the day than I thought, instead of swimming all the way back to shore I had to take the nearest pier.

I'm rather risk averse, and this is the only place where I dare to even think of swimming across - usually I could easily do it twice back and forth. Now there were people swimming close all the time. It's been a hot day (over 30C) so 9.30 pm the beach was still busy - and I bet it will be until midnight.
