~Deacon's Fucked up Cancer Thread~

It's going on my left arm, inner bicep, and that's just a flat dull idea for the artist to start with. It will have a drop shadow so it looks like its floating, and the feathers will have some depth as well. Even the letters will be spiced up a bit.

I'll get it done Wednesday or Thursday, before I supposedly start feeling like crap, lol

Right now I feel completely normal, aside from some bowel issues actually getting better :) So at the moment I'm enjoying the fact that it seems to be shrinking the tumor already. (Which he said would start happening right away)

Still just a one day at a time thing, so we'll see :D

Warp speed two, steady as she goes, sounding good DV, keep up with the positive thoughts.

How many treatments of radiation will you be getting? Are you getting the C-19 vaccine? I would think, in your compromised state of being, it may not be safe right now. Are you right handed?

Once you’ve been declared cancer free and healthy, what do you have planned to do?

Are you going to start dialysis or will that resume after radiation treatments?

It was recommended that I DO get the vaccine when given the chance, but I still haven't been notified yet, so still waiting.

When I'm cancer free I'll just go back to the life I had before, lol. Boring, right?

I'm not on dialysis now, and I never have been. I'm hoping my kidneys will be fine and I'll get more time out of them. If the chemo kills them, well then so be it. I'll go on dialysis then.

I still have an A-fib heart issue that needs to be fixed before they will do the surgery on the tumor, and I have a screwed up wrist that may need surgery as well, lol. When it rains, it pours :D

All this shit does seem to come in bunches, doesn't it? Had an A-Fib issue last year. They did a cardiac ablation on Valentines Day 2020 and it has been fine every since. Keep up the battle, Deacon. It sounds like you are doing well with the treatment

I know at times I can be a ball full of questions. I’ll try to slow down with them.

Thank you for answering. *curtsying and ❣️hugs❣️*

I had two ablations done for A-flutter, and the second one worked. It held for a few years, and then I went into A-fib, so now I need another one in the other chamber, lol.

You have nothing to apologize for Sweetie, that's why I started the thread :D

Just read through your thread

Message me if you want a friendly ear.

Take care hun

Thanks HHB :kiss::heart:

Yesterday went fine, and I still feel completely normal, lol. This Wednesday when they do labs to check my kidneys, we may double the chemo dose if the function is still good. That worries me a little, but other than that, I'm still the life of the party in the RT center (radiation therapy) :D

Originally, I was diagnosed with
a-Fib then they moved it to A-Flutter. I hope that is all I need! They thought it was on the right side, so went in there and then realized the Flutter was on the left. *LOL* 2 hour surgery became 7 1/2. Sure hope it holds! Hang in there Deacon! :D

If you are interested in it, talk to the Doctor. They told me they would want me to get it before Chemo or Radiation if possible. They said that they would then move me to the front of the line, and you have more than one health issue that would move you forward also (Diabetes)

I look forward to seeing the tattoo :D

Sassy is spot on about discussing the Covid vaccine with your doctor, particularly with your compromised health conditions. You really don't need to get Covid which you already know. I've been surprised by the number of people I've talked to who say they'd just rather take their chances. SMH.

You do what you finally decide to do and stay healthy. Beating the cancer is a no-brainer. You'll do that. It's getting everything else taken care of that's going to be frustrating.

I've had in depth discussions with all three of my doctors about the vaccine, and I'll get it when I'm given the chance. I've been told I'm elligable, but no matter who I call, I'm told not yet. I don't leave home too often, and I avoid people when I do. At the cancer center, I wear two masks, and while shopping if I go.

I can't get to the Cancer center today, due to snow overnight in the mountains. When the road opens, it will be too late in the day, so looking into my tattoo on my free time :)

Sorry you're having such a hard time finding the vaccine. I don't know how you guys are doing it out there but here when you're eligible you can try to find it on your own - which is almost impossible unless you get really lucky - or you get assigned a place based on some kind of magical formula no one really understands. I qualified for health reasons but wasn't able to find it anywhere, and then randomly I received an email saying I could now make my appointment. I clicked on a link and had access to several days worth of open appointments. Hopefully there's a similar system in place where you're at and you one day (soon) randomly receive your own email.

Were you able to make it to the clinic today?

Yep, yesterday and today :)

Yesterday I also met with the chemo expert who watches my blood, and we upped my chemo to 500mg in the morning (When I take the majority of my meds) and 1000mg in the evening. (When I take way less)

Tried making an appointment for my tattoo, but they aren't taking anymore right now. I tried a different shop that's about an hour away, but they don't take calls, and it's walk-in only, first come first serve, lol. Two hours round trip for a maybe? Nah, no thanks, lol. So I'm still looking :D

Still feeling good?

Yeah I don't think so...that's a long trip. It'll all come together when it's meant to : )

I'm feeling fine so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way, lol.

The tattoo will happen soon enough :)

it's very gracious of you to keep everyone here posted, Deacon. I'd think it would be easy to either let go or keep it all in.. and I appreciate that you let others stay connected with you

I just felt so uninformed when I learned I had colon cancer, and then learning it was in a bad location, and what was next. Its almost impossible to call a doctor just to ask questions, so you're trying to write them down so you can ask when you finally get the chance, but in the mean time you feel a bit lost and confused, so I'll share my adventure, and hope it helps someone else :D
