Dear Nev and MS,

The true Karma is them missing on on gems of men like you two and being stuck with a faux diamond.

Hugs and appreciation for the wonderful men you are,

Serene.

Aww. I have no jokes for this, it was an awesome thing to say. Tell Kal you need some extra special service tonight. Tell him I said to make you quiver for me.

Dear Pointed Remarks,

I know. It's a flaw. You should tongue lash me for it. While I tongue bathe you.

Just the truth, Nev. Just the truth.

I was in the right line that day. :)

So let me understand this, a person on here talks about shooting a woman or women between the eyes and you guys just pat that person on the shoulder and make soothing noises?

That's just bonkers. Any man claiming to want to shoot someone betwixt the eyes, especially over hurt feelings is not someone to be coddled. That's just incredibly scary and you need to seek some medical attention Nevyn.

And if you ever again wonder why you aren't receiving the attention you seek from a woman on this board just look back at your post here and wonder no more.

As for those of you who just patted his hand, shame on you.

So if I talked about shooting a man who emotionally abused women, would you think differently? If not, then you have my respect and we part ways amicably.

For the record, I have admitted to having serious problems and BEING in therapy and on medication for them. What is your excuse?

Oh one last point; I don't want attention, just RESPECT. And women on this board have never needed any excuse to disrespect people like me.

People vent. It does not mean they are serious.

I don't feel ashamed at all. Thanks.

An Open Letter to Mean Girls, here and Everywhere.

I just want to understand why you think that you get something from torturing people? From humiliation and public ridicule? Do you become a bigger, better person when making others to feel small? Why?! Is it just entertainment to you, a way to alleviate the boredom? Do you hurt kittens and puppies too?

You are a mean, cruel, sadistic bitch. [redacted].

Dear Black,

I understand you were upset when this post was written. But your words were, I think, poorly chosen in the last few sentences. Wishing death on someone or saying you'd kill them is not right. Even though you're hurting, put yourself in the other person's shoes when hearing/reading something like that.

We could go back and forth- trading blow for blow on who hurt when, that this is none of my business, and blah blah. But you said it out in the open, you knew people would respond.

-I've said my peace.

I went through several years of emotional abuse at the hands of my ex-husband, and NO, I don't think wishing I could shoot him would EVER have been appropriate or acceptable. People who are respected put in the effort to show respect for others even when they haven't received it.

You are scared by a meaningless threat to a faceless person without appreciating the need of people screaming their pain and anguish into the ether ?

And you choose to attack those who offer gentle solace / soothing words

I have insomnia due to a terrifyingly hard day yesterday involving kids I can simply no longer protect ...and you think I should feel ashamed for expressing empathy?

Really?

Fuck you and your sanctimonious bullshit

Dear Duplicitous Litster

It's funny what comes out during conversation, information which sheds yet more light on the true depth of your deceitful nature. You must have had a real laugh at my expense every time I came to you to talk.
I see talk of hypocrisy, and wonder how you even dare allow the words to fall from your mouth(keyboard), how your conscience allows you to sleep at night.

More fool me, eh?

Dear Litsters,

I apologize if the shaming was too strong. I was incredibly apalled.

Domestic violence is no joke and its nothing that I can ever excuse. Just a few examples why:
The number of American troops killed in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2012 was 6,488. The number of American women who were murdered by current or ex male partners during that time was 11,766. That's nearly double the amount of casualties lost during war.
http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5959776

3 women are murdered every day by a current or former partner.

Every minute 20 people are victims of intimate partner violence.

I could go on and on but the Huffpost article I linked sums it up pretty well. I won't ever sit by when I see someone threaten violence on a partner. Never. Just because he was blowing off steam doesn't make it okay. There are things to joke about, there are rants to have, there are swear words that work nicely but threatening to shoot someone between the eyes is too far. I'm not sanctimonious. I am frightened for other women who face this reality every day. His threat wasn't toward me. I didn't feel like my life was in danger but I DID feel like it was my place to say something.

I've been here almost 10 years and I've seen this particular poster go on and on about his grievances as have I (that's what a lot of us use this site for, me included) and I feel empathy. I am not immune, I am human. But violence is where my empathy ends. If you don't like it than you, yourself are invited to fuck right off too.

I'm a sexual violence survivor. I almost died at the hands of a man who thought it his right to use his power over my very sick and weakened state and raped me almost to death. I had to be stitched back together when he was done with me. I was 19 and on my 2nd round of chemo, what a strong man that guy was. I will never, ever, let that happen to anyone I know if I can avoid it. So truly, I hope that since I've so offended you that you put me on ignore but I will never stop raising a fuss when I see signs like that. Never.

Dear Litster in the Mirror,

You can do this, just keep getting out of bed every day.

Sincerely,
The Litster staring back at you.

Yes. Yes you can. :cattail:

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most awesome one of all?"

*idly twirls glass-cutter*

"What's that you say? Lil ole me? Aw shucks. Truly?"

Dear Litsters,

I applaud anyone who recognizes they have issues and seeks help to try and fix them. Takes a big person to face yourself in the mirror, realize faults, and actively try and do something positive to fix them.

We have all been wronged, lied to, misinterpreted, put down, called out, and felt less wanted in some form or fashion on here. It's going to happen. If you are on here long enough and post long enough it is going to happen.

There is a clear difference between venting and threatening. Calling someone a bitch, asshole, cunt, or whatever is one thing. Threatening to end someone's life, whether serious or not, is a completely other thing.

We come here under the guise that this place gives us anonymity and we can feel safe in posting, our wants, needs, desires and frustrations. To some their anonymity isn't as big a deal as it is to others, but we all have that same feeling of feeling safe when we post here.

There has to be lines drawn as to when a post, poster, troll or whatever crosses that line. I get being frustrated with people on this site. Lord knows I have had my ins and outs with folks on here. I know personalities clash, feelings get hurt, hearts ache, etc etc, but under no situation should the threat of death be looked over, ignored, or patted on the back, as if to say it's ok I know you are having a bad day.

I love how orr community rallies around those that are going through troubles. It is awesome to see that support. When all hell broke loose here because of the tornado that hit us this place showed more care and support for me and my family than my real life friends and family did. It is one if the reasons I have stuck around and continue to come back after breaks.

There is good support and bad support though. I think there is nothing wrong with supporting someone going through relationship issues, Respect issues or any other issue. Good for those that stepped up and offered their support either through posts or pms. I am just surprised that their support didn't also include a side note letting the poster know that even though you are hurting you took it a step too far with threatening to shoot someone between the eyes. To me that is crossing the line. Give support. Give a virtual hug. Offer to talk to them privately, but ignore the fact that thus person stated they wanted to physically harm someone. I don't care if it was meant or not. I don't care if there is no way they could do it because they don't live next to each other. I don't care if it is a veiled threat and the posting was just venting their frustrations. To me that is crossing a line.

I don't like seeing my board being used as a virtual murder weapon. None of us should. I hope he wakes up this morning and realizes that his post wasn't healthy. I am glad he is getting the help he feels he needs but I can promise you as someone who has gone to therapy and continues to do so, my therapist would not only consider a post like that unhealthy, but very harmful in the recovery process.

Signed,

My two cents.

Dear Wings,

I am sorry to hear of your past experiences and am glad you have survived.

I to am a sexual violence survivor. My ex-husband almost killed me on several occasions, restraining orders mean nothing even today. I was put on the hospital a few times, once when I miscarried from one of his beatings. He held a shotgun to my head, broke my nose, busted my lip, gave me black eyes, sprained my ankle, dislocated my jaw, etc. I have been raped, I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse by being molested and more. I had a profoundly abusive childhood. I know violence.

I am also a mental health professional and have worked in domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, rape and suicide prevention, group homes and the family court system. May_I_Please also works in a professional capacity in mental health from what I understand.

People come here to practice free speech. People have made violent blurts several times through the years. I personally have been told because I choose to explore my sexuality here that I deserve to be raped and abused by men on the open boards. Something how nobody found that offensive. But then it was not written by a somewhat unpopular male but a popular one. Things that make you go hmmm.

You can get your point across without calling someone psycho and castigating other members. There is all kinds of abuse besides physical and frankly, none of them acceptable.

I wish you well. I always have and I always will. I wish Nev well too. I am glad he has a place to vent and don't believe he would ever act on what he vents here.

Best Wishes,
S.

Plenty of people cross lines here and no one says a word. Picking and choosing who gets reprimanded by their behavior based on popularity on here is even more wrong.

I have counseled plenty of people in various situations and have heard people vent worst things, I promise you. There are people in extremely high stress situations and I would rather they talk about it than act on it.

Mental health professionals are required to report in certain situations. If they reported every time someone vented about wanting to hurt themselves or hurt another person, they would have half the clients. That is what assessments are for, not jumping to conclusions.

I am done discussing this and I am going about my day. I understand your point of view and appreciate that we have this board in which to practice our free speech.

Peace,

S.

Picking and choosing wasn't the case here. Reading a post where someone wants to put a bullet through someone else's eyes is really all it takes for me because being here as long as I have I have NEVER read where someone wished another person be dead. Also threatening someone's life is against the rules of this board. So as much as possible want to say it is free speech, it obviously wasn't free enough not to be deleted.

Saying that a woman deserves to be raped and abused is pretty damn awful. Following her around and harassing her is pretty damn awful. Threatening to hurt her when you get back to the states is pretty damn awful. It was reported to moderators and they said ignore it. So yah, whatever.

I see you have the need to get the last word. Have at it.

I don't believe for one moment this would have blipped on your radar if it was not Wings, proving my point.

I posted about it yesterday in my rant thread. This had nothing to do with wings. You're right though I said my peace. You obviously have your right to feel the way you do. I have mine. No one is trying to change the way you feel. The need to get the last word in? I thought this was a civil conversation about a serious issue. I won't speak of it again.

Dear Litsters

Sorry my anger got away with me due to insomnia and stress, I don't usually react like that and am a little ashamed that I did.

I also feel sorry for all your experiences, and amazement that you have got to this place in your lives where you can be open about your past and strong enough to know yourselves as well as you do.

I do think it behoves us all to give people space to vent and work out their issues if that is what they want, using language and imagery as they wish ...venting is a natural safety valve.

Anyhow ..whoops on the fuck ya

If any user ever sees another user cross a line, report it to the moderators. We do not see every single post and actually miss quite a bit on a daily basis. We also have limited powers- we are instructed to get involved only if the post or behavior violates the forum rules.

I can only speak for myself, but if someone breaks a rule and I witness it, I will take the necessary steps. It doesn't matter who that user is.

I DID REPORT IT SO DID OTHER PEOPLE. Funny, no outrage at actual abuse being done on the boards, but attacks of a man VENTING.

I find it interesting how certain people feel the need to chime in that belong to a certain group and want to make this into some clique war.

I responded because I was one of the original people Wing's post was directed at. Other than you being buddies I don't know why you feel the need to say anything.

This is one of the things I find so very distasteful about Lit.

And Clowns, I was NOT calling you a cunt. That was directed to someone off the boards. I like to vent here, you know. :p

I found my stuff...okay my daughter did, I have a busy day, I am out of here.
