Life’s not fair, hunoh I get it. Everyone all concerned about @EmilyMiller but no one's asked about MY status.

I was working in a school near McGuire Airforce base. I thought it was just a low flying military plane or something.

People felt it up in Maine. Reports of people feeling it are sporadic. If I hadn't been sitting at my desk and seeing it, I probably wouldn't have noticed. How the hell did you feel a 5.1 across several states? As someone who has experienced more than a few 4+ and 5+ magnitude earthquakes, I can testify that a 5.1 earthquake won't be felt from more than about 200 km distance, although the terrain plays some role here.
You need to work on your bubbliness more [that’s a word, right?]I don't get it. I mean, I'm blonde, too.
It was a deep rumbling that got more intense then a bit of a final thump (I feel I’m writing a sex scene). As a California ex-pat, I can speak with some authority that a 5.1 can be quite a ride. I guess I need to check the news feeds about this one.
EDIT: Ah. Official sources now have it as a 4.7, centered in NW New Jersey. One interviewee said it lasted longer than her past experiences, so my edu-guess it was a "rolling" type quake. Those can be fun, provided the ceiling plaster isn't about to fall down on you.
You have to consider you don't have a rep for discussing how powerful your Hitachi is either.oh I get it. Everyone all concerned about @EmilyMiller but no one's asked about MY status.

Jersey is the country’s designated laughingstock; lucky for the rest of the country it exists so people can point fingers and groan and mock and not have to admit how fucked up their state is. – Jersey Boy
I’m not from Jersey, I’m a PA girl. I’ve lived here for a few years, so I think I can be objective.Jersey is the country’s designated laughingstock; lucky for the rest of the country it exists so people can point fingers and groan and mock and not have to admit how fucked up their state is. – Jersey Boy

It’s really nowhere near as bad as the jokes make out. Yeah it’s got some scary bits - so does PA. Yeah it’s got some ugly bits - most places do. But it’s far from the picture painted of it. Parts are really lovely.
We had the most amazing Halloween. Both where we live and in little towns where there is one Main Street and everyone decorates. The egg hunt I helped out with was a real community thing and really nice and friendly.
The Shore is kinda a microcosm of the state, cheesy in places like Wildwood (which I still kinda like - partly nostalgia from my youth) picturesque and gentrified in Cape May. And lots of points in between.
I like it here.

Or The SopranosThere's also a HUGE difference between North Jersey and South.
I'm a South Jersey Boy, born and raised. All I can say is don't base your view of us here on shitty reality TV like Jersey Shore.

Newark <> JerseyMy one and only impression of New Jersey was on a family vacation, driving through Newark... IIRC...on the way to the New York World's Fair. That would be 60 years ago. And it stunk to high heaven. NJ, not the fair, which was awesome!
(Sorry, gang. That's the memory etched in my brain.)
I managed to get lost on the Jersey Turnpike heading south and ended up in Penn. I'm still not quite sure how that happened. My one and only impression of New Jersey was on a family vacation, driving through Newark... IIRC...on the way to the New York World's Fair. They are essentially the same place down thereActually that's super easy to do. You can easily wind up on 295 that turns into 95 and next thing you know you're in PA and don't remember crossing a bridge.
Same. i flew through EWR going back and forth to Ottawa a few times. Not impressed. My one and only impression of New Jersey was on a family vacation, driving through Newark... The nice lady at Google Maps loves her “Welcome to Pennsylvania”next thing you know you're in PA and don't remember crossing a bridge.

Other than that, I've done some research on 29 north of Trenton along the Delaware river. I'm bringing my Harley for that one. It looks beautiful on line. I've been told it's better in person.![]()
All I know is that you have to take the opposite direction on 295 to what any sane person would think. If you want North, take 295S. If you want south, take 295N.Actually that's super easy to do. One thing that is worse than PA. I think the MVC limits the turning circles of Jersey vehicles. That or a law states you have to use both sides of the road when turning.Jersey drivers have earned our reputations as assoles legitimately.

It’s like a wormhole.
