Disney Checkmates DeSantis

I laughed. Disney put a notice in the Sentinel. Everything they did was legal.
They also aren’t facing unprecedented boycotts.

Lol, nope. Apparently the Reedy Creek Board forgot a step in their rulemaking process when they created the grant of power to Disney Corporate.

Oops...

Wait, your last post said that what Disney did wasn’t legal, now it is. You need to make up your mind.
I am not a lawyer. I don’t know if Turley is right or wrong. What we do know is the governor is holding a press conference within the hour. According to CNN, he plans to announce steps to nullify actions of the previous board. Stay tuned and enjoy.

So after posting it you now want to distance yourself from it.
The governor’s plan is to toll the citizens to get back at Disney. That’ll show ‘em.

Why am I not surprised the right keeps thinking, “we’ve got him now”.

There are exactly 44 permanent residents in the Reedy Creek district, of which 9 are a Mormon family living in a double-wide trailer. All of them hand-picked by Disney. You (hiding behind the editorial writer) are positing that they didn't get formal notice of the meeting? Good luck with that canard.

Be patient. The news conference will begin shortly.

After the news conference he'll probably be back and saying that the State doesn't have the authority to impose uniform standards on businesses.

Unless they're cake bakers...

Exclusive: Disney’s 11th-Hour Move To Evade DeSantis Oversight Is Legally Void, Per Source

Disney skipped a step required by Florida law in its 11th-hour agreement, according to those familiar with the proceedings.

isney leadership thought the company out-maneuvered Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis this year after a last-minute agreement with local officials gave the theme park virtually unlimited developmental power. But sources tell The Federalist that Disney’s corporate lawyers missed the fine print in Florida statute governing tourist districts.

In February, supervisors running the Reedy Creek Improvement District signed an 11th-hour resolution to hand Disney maximum authority over the company’s 27,000 acres in central Florida. The late agreement effectively left the DeSantis-appointed successors on the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board — which replaced the Reedy Creek board — powerless to govern Disney in their own state.

“This essentially makes Disney the government,” said Ron Peri, one of the new board members appointed by the governor, at a Feb. 27 meeting. “This board loses, for practical purposes, the majority of its ability to do anything beyond maintain the roads and maintain basic infrastructure.”

In early April, DeSantis ordered an investigation into Disney’s last-minute power grab. A source familiar with the investigation revealed to The Federalist that Disney skipped key steps when amending its developmental agreement, rendering the resolution null and void.

Looks like Chief Zipman will be hitting the old sweat lodge tonight in order to purify himself against all of the stink he oozing since his original post.

Reichgard likes that the government is actively retaliating politically against a private company.

desantis is bandying about the notion of building a prison close to Disney world

he gets more and more pathetic each day

Is it any wonder the RWCJ “members” here identify with DeSantos???

JFC

SAD!!!

What you don't seem to appreciate is Disney has not yet uncorked a real salvo in this disagreement. So far they have been trying to play it low-key. They have given De Santis many opportunities to LOOK LIKE he won and save face while out maneuvering him. Being the self-centered politician he is, he hasn't taken those opportunities. Since everything Disney has done so far is by the book and in compliance with existing law, De Santis is blowing smoke with the threat of "formally nullifying" the agreement passed by the outgoing board. I do not believe Disney wants to get into a pissing match. It isn't good for their reputation as a family-friendly corporation. But push come to shove legally they are in a much better position to win such a contest than De Santis. And if forced to it they will provide DE Santis with a reply he does not want.

And the threat of building a prison close to Disney? Really? What kind of childish nonsense is that? It would be petty retribution AND they would be crippling the largest tourist draw in the state. Which means they would be cutting off their nose to spite their face. Stupid. Utterly stupid.

Comshaw

Disney can relax. The state of Florida isn’t going to build a prison there.

Of course not. But what kind of a person makes that kind of empty, idiotic childish threat? Whether it was meant or not, it is still exceedingly stupid.

Comshaw

I’m pretty sure BabyBoobs was purposefully avoiding that obvious and damning fact.

DeSantos is BabyBoobs’ guy.

Shills gotta shill.

👉 BabyBoobs 🤣

🇺🇸

Again, if I was Disney, I'd start rumbling about leaving the state. Florida voters surely would understand the import of that.

The kind of person who studies at the feet of the Great Prevaricator Donald J, Trump and is willing to do "whatever it takes" to gain traction with his unwashed masses.

DISNEY FIRES BACK AT DESANTIS

Hours after "Governor" DeSantis "jokingly" threatened to build a prison in Reedy Creek, Disney trolled the meatball by announcing their first-ever SANCTIONED Gay Pride night at Disneyworld.

HisArpy will be along shortly to inform us of how unconstitutional this is, as the state of Florida now owns the Disney corporation and besides, gays have cooties.

"Conservatives" are cheering on the government using its power against Disney.

Still boggles my mind.
