I loved the concept of Saw, even though my boyfriend told me to leave the room when the gore started.

It wasn't bad for a budget horror film. I really have to see Saw 2 one of these days

I think I'll pass on the sequel. Not just because I'd probably never sleep again, but I can't stand Mark Wahlberg. Why the hell does Hollywood keep giving him roles? :p

I don't know. I wasn't that crazy about Boogie Nights, anyway. Or Magnolia, for that matter.

Kids and I just finished watching Napoleon Dynamite.

I've heard a lot about that one, but I never got around to seeing it. Did you like it?

I enjoyed Saw, one and two, for their concepts... Napoleon Dynamite? Probably more of an acquired taste. Very wacky/strange sense of humor stuff. Bizarre, almost absurd. "Can I have your tots?" *shaking head*

I have Memoirs of a Geisha and The Family Stone, haven't watched them yet... we shall see. I have netflix again... yay!!! :D

I agree with you about Napoleon Dynamite. I think my 8yo liked it more than I did, tho it was funny.
I  Netflix.

I didn't make it through Napoleon Dynamite the first time.

But that gave me enough to get into the mood and watch it again a few months later.

It's worth it just so you can do the voice. "Idiot! Gosh."

Definitely a mood movie. But whether you like it or not, the actors really did a great job in it, keeping a straight face and such a serious demeanor even while being absolutely absurd.

Last Holiday (Queen Latifah, LL Cool J)

It was a nice feel good movie with some laughable moments.

Just watched Capote. It's an amazing movie and Phillip Seymour Hoffman was completely deserving of every award he won for the role. I didn't know anything about the movie (or about Capote, really), so the whole movie was interesting for me. Just requested In Cold Blood from my library, so I can read it.

I promised myself I wouldn't watch another Michael Bay film after I saw "Pearl Harbor". When I found out Bay was directing "The Transformers" I nearly had a coniption, so since I'm definitely seeing that movie, I figured might as well check out "The Island".

"The Island" gives me hope. The film was fast paced and kept me intrigued all the way through. I loved the storyline and how it paid homage to "Logan's Run" ("paying homage" is just a polite way of saying "ripped off" but it was still an awesome movie) down to the Sandman uniforms.

Also the movie has    Scarlett Johansen    and my man-crush Ewan McGreggor so I really couldn't resist.

I had a really enjoyable evening watching this.

Watched Scary Movie 3 this afternoon. It was funny in parts if you like broad gross parody humor.

Also watched Final Cut with Robin Williams. It is NOT a funny movie but it is thought provoking. People already "sanitize" the memories of the dead of course and that was what it really is about.

Lastly, I watched Cat Woman which wasn't as horrible as the reviews led me to believe they were. I'm still glad I watched it for free though.

Fury :rose:

I went old school this weekend. Watched Beat Street, The Mack, and Dolemite: The Human Tornado. Even though the acting was the worst, I had to give credit to the filmakers for breaking through the sterile walls of Hollywood by making their films that way they wanted to (Go Indie!). I went to the library today and found Birth of a Nation by D.W. Griffinth. It's gonna be so hard to watch a full-length silent movie, especially with the questionable content, but I've wanted to see what made it so historical.

Last night I watched Derailed with Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen. It's hard to explain my opinion of the movie. I spent the first hour kinda peeved with the characters and kinda bored. That said, there were a couple of nice little twists and occurences toward the end of the movie that were pretty good. If you can get past the first half, it's not a bad rental.

That movie flopped like a dying fish.

Napolean is not a mood movie, it's a substance movie...some movie's are just better with the correct enhancement...

Ahhh Final Cut.

Damn it can't Robin Williams stop doing that shit? he keeps coming out with movies I think are good for a single viewing, then he pops up with one worth owning. Final Cut and Patch Adams are two of my absolute favorites of his. Both movies to make you stop and think.

Mrs. Henderson Presents is a delightful film with wonderful chemistry between Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins and a one to watch performance by Kelly Reilly...ok, so it's about the first nudie musical...what's wrong with that?
