I agree, that was a great movie. Especially the ending. Laughed my balls off when the mother and daughter were eating dinner with the black guy from next door and the mother made a comparision to his skin tone and the amount of soy sauce he was using. I still use a lot my self though.ABSTRUSE said:"Saving Face" with Joan Chen and her daughter.
A romantic/comedy about a woman, her daughter, family traditions...and some lesbian sex.....aside....it was a feel good movie.![]()

Just finished Zathura with the kids. They loved it. It's a cute movie, even if it is just a different way of telling the Jumanji story.

FurryFury said:I was very disappointed with 12 Monkeys. Again the concept had potential but the movie end product was just too predictable. It was also maddeningly obtuse in the way it was filmed, as are many films these days. I didn't like it at all.

Just saw MirrorMask. You could tell Neil Gaiman was behind it.
No great story, a fairy tale really. Acting wasn't bad at all. But the settings, wow! So utterly surreal.
I'll recommend it if you're in the mood for something strange and good.

Most watched:
Amelie (are you suprised, Fury?)
Wim Winders: Wings of Desire
Just rewatched --David Lynch's Wild at Heart.
Blue Velvet just reopened in NYC theaters- 30 year anniversary edition (same cut as original)
Love:
Metropolis-the fully restored version
Betty Blue (French flic from the '70's)
Just thought the other day of the best movie no one has ever seen.
Taurig Sonntad: Ein Lied von Lieb und Tod.-small German indie from 2000.
Three copies were brought to US with subtitles. Mis-titled [/I]Gloomy Sunday Sounds bad but a great flic. Menage a trois in 1930's Budapest. This flick played in Ft Lauderdale 10 months to SRO crowds. Little 80 year old grandmothers saw it a dozen times. This was an R rated movie -very close to NC-17. Old ladies saying--"Well, it's against everything I ever believed; but it was beautiful and I dare anyone to criticise these people. The distributor pulled the copy for a cinema in San Francisco and it hasn't returned in spite of promises. I think Focus Films should be lobbied to put it on DVD. The movie is based on real events and the song (performed in the film) "Taurig Sonntag"
sold several million copies in the '30 and '40. Even the staid NY Times deleted the review from its 15000 review base. But it Googles!!! With still pics--check it out.[Goofle: Gloomy Sunday]
