DVDs seen recently

Too many, I do not have cable and so rent. Oh lord they were unmemorable. Damn I saw them yesterday. REAL GOOD FILMS they were.

I recently enjoyed Dogma again. It's a great flick.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith was a fun romp.

I've seen all those films that for me, started with Desperado. That one was the best for me, the violence was great!!! Two hot people in it that I'd like to fuck helped as well!

I gave myself the "gift" of Bewitched on a depressed day. It cheered me up a bit!

Was Secret Window really good? Depp looks all dirty on the cover art. That puts me off.

"Saving Face" with Joan Chen and her daughter.
A romantic/comedy about a woman, her daughter, family traditions...and some lesbian sex.....aside....it was a feel good movie. :rose:
I agree, that was a great movie. Especially the ending. Laughed my balls off when the mother and daughter were eating dinner with the black guy from next door and the mother made a comparision to his skin tone and the amount of soy sauce he was using. I still use a lot my self though.

"Doom" wasn't as big of a disaster as I was expecting.

I've been broke and moving lately so movies weren't exactly up there on my to-do list.

Last night watched Ladder 49. Terrible ending, imho. I like things happy.
Just finished Zathura with the kids. They loved it. It's a cute movie, even if it is just a different way of telling the Jumanji story.

Yeah, Zathura was better than I expected actually. The kids and I enjoyed it.

I'm watching the first season of Grey's Anatomy...just came out on DVD...My bf/ex-bf/bf, who's a dr, loves the fact that I am obsessed with a fictional surgeon. Oh well.

And, I just watched "Just Like Heaven" with Reese Witherspoon. I loved it. It's definitely a chick flick.

My new story: Something He Can Feel

I watched Secret Window last night. I thought it sucked. Depp looked like crap and the plot was pretty crappy too.

Strange Combo

I watched the King and I -Rodgers and Hamerstein....it was long but Yule is awsome. And then I watched 12 Monkeys...talk about a weird combination!

I've wanted to be raped by Yul since I was a child. So I liked The King and I okay, he was too nice in it. The Journey is the best with him in it for me.

I was very disappointed with 12 Monkeys. Again the concept had potential but the movie end product was just too predictable. It was also maddeningly obtuse in the way it was filmed, as are many films these days. I didn't like it at all.

Identity was a much better movie of the same sort of plot IMO than Secret Window.

I actually like 12 Monkeys' ending a lot. It's a take on pre-determination theory; that no matter what you do, you can never throw the tracks.

I sort of like that idea too. I have to admit that.

That was a delightfully little weird movie.

Just saw MirrorMask. You could tell Neil Gaiman was behind it.

No great story, a fairy tale really. Acting wasn't bad at all. But the settings, wow! So utterly surreal.

I'll recommend it if you're in the mood for something strange and good.

I enjoyed Ladder 49 even the ending was a bit of a bummer. I had a lot of fun analysing some of the scenes, which drove my wife nuts. (Okay so i'm still a Sparky at heart. Volunteer Bugle Boy for years up north.)

Always Weird

New here -dropped in from the BDSM world. ONly person I know is Fury.

Most watched:
Amelie (are you suprised, Fury?)
Wim Winders: Wings of Desire

Just rewatched --David Lynch's Wild at Heart.
Blue Velvet just reopened in NYC theaters- 30 year anniversary edition (same cut as original)

Love:
Metropolis-the fully restored version
Betty Blue (French flic from the '70's)

Just thought the other day of the best movie no one has ever seen.
Taurig Sonntad: Ein Lied von Lieb und Tod.-small German indie from 2000.
Three copies were brought to US with subtitles. Mis-titled [/I]Gloomy Sunday Sounds bad but a great flic. Menage a trois in 1930's Budapest. This flick played in Ft Lauderdale 10 months to SRO crowds. Little 80 year old grandmothers saw it a dozen times. This was an R rated movie -very close to NC-17. Old ladies saying--"Well, it's against everything I ever believed; but it was beautiful and I dare anyone to criticise these people. The distributor pulled the copy for a cinema in San Francisco and it hasn't returned in spite of promises. I think Focus Films should be lobbied to put it on DVD. The movie is based on real events and the song (performed in the film) "Taurig Sonntag"
sold several million copies in the '30 and '40. Even the staid NY Times deleted the review from its 15000 review base. But it Googles!!! With still pics--check it out.[Goofle: Gloomy Sunday]

Sorry for the rant. :rose:

That's one of my favorite movies of all time. :)

(and I got to play one of the wives in a stage production - was too much fun)

Actually I've never seen, Amelie but I just put it on hold at my library.

I've recently watched Troy which was okay but certainly not great. I re watched Edward Scissor hands which was better than I remembered. Also watched Lady Killers tonight which was pretty decent, surprised me, that one did.

Yes, it absolutely should be. :) I rented it, but now I'm going to buy it. It's a keeper.

Just finished Walk the Line. Good movie. And I'm not particularly a Johnny Cash fan, tho now I might be a bit more of one.

Rent
The Princess Diaries 2
The Sixth Sense
The Exorcist
The Wedding Date
Meet The Fockers

Just a few. First time seeing The Wedding Date. A certain grizzly bear advised me to watch a lot of movies. I'll have to find him and hurt him now...because I can't seem to get up off my ass and rejoin this thing we call life.

I want to see that movie! As soon as my library has it.

I watched Maria's Saving Grace or something like it last night. It's Spanish and clearly showed me I don't want to be a "mule," for Colombian drug lords.

Also watched a French film called Amalie which had been recomended on this thread by someone. It was quirky and amusing.

I loved listening to the languages in both though French is always more lovely than any other language I've heard.

We watched I Robot recently. It was better than expected.

PS was pretty decent too.
