Endless Curiosity

Unrequited attraction is a bitch, whether it be a relationship that’s gone cold or an unrealized crush. How do you deal when your love (or sex) interest is less interested in you than you are in them? Do you drown yourself in one of the classics, like ice cream or whiskey? Meaningless sex with strangers? Or just suck it up and move on?

just suck it up and move on....billions of other fish...then perhaps some meaningless sex

If it was just attraction or a crush, I suck it up and move on. I do have a tendency to shoot for men that are way out of my league.

If it was a relationship that went bad, I suck it up and move on ... after a few shots of whiskey and meaningless sex with an FWB. :D

In my case, we are strictly talking Lit. I've had only two really unrequited crushes, two totally different personalities. They drift in and out of Lit land, and I sigh and wonder, then post my next silly thing. As far as a relationship gone cold, I think I have been the one to turn down the thermostat only once or twice. Yes, it stings for a bit or a bit longer when it is done to me, depending on circumstances. But again, I just try to remember the good, and then post my next silly thing. I learned a hard lesson early in my PG time, and so I don't let others control my ability to like being on Lit.

Now, as far as an unrequited thread...I am still grumbling about that.

I can do meaningless. :)

I ride the fantasy for what it's worth and enjoy real life with a slight sense of sorrow. The pain fades, and the romantic beauty that is left behind can be quite enjoyable.

I'm in the "suck it up and move on" camp. That happened to me quite often when dating, but I was able to rationalise that it occurred to me just as regularly in reverse, so I figured that unrequited attraction was just a likely outcome of that game.

I do have a tendency to shoot for men that are way out of my league.
Keep doing that! At the very least, they'll probably enjoy the attention. :D

Is the concept of "in a different league" really still a thing? Maybe that should be a follow-up question...
.

I'm only talking about Lit here, but after a few tears, you really have no choice but to suck it up and move on.

Suck it up and try to move on.

I'm a *foot stomper*. FYI, to all you foot stompers, it's only charming when they are into you. :D

Wail a little and move on.

I know this is going to sound weird, but I can actually get a lot of mileage out of a crush. Once someone has been deemed an unsuitable candidate for *The Hunt* I can settle into an undefined period of *crushing*. Excellent masturbatory fodder.

Oh, and by *The Hunt* I mean standing in your line of vision while pretending you're invisible. Or maybe, if our eyes do meet, experiencing an entire body flush.

Yeah. I am just that good.

Am I really the only person that has used a good, hard orgasm (or 5) as a catalyst to get over a broken relationship?

*hangs head in shame*

*grins because my shoes are cute*

*tries not to giggle*

Ahh, screw that. I regret nothing. :D

This - and I say this with the utmost sincerity - is just not true. Any man would be lucky to be anywhere near your league.

This^ is really quite beautiful.

Threadus interruptus? :cattail:

this is going to sound very cop-out-ish, but I really don't crush.
I just won't allow it anymore.

I can't use a real person as wank fodder either. It feels icky and on par with creeper to me. (Honestly no offense intended. I know for a fact that many many people get great satisfaction from it, but I have an orgasm-tight seal on my brain that just will not let me.)
(By real I mean.. Well, I don't know how to explain what I mean..)
If I even try to imagine a person that I know would not be interested in me actually being interested in me?

You know that tingle you get?
Down there?

Yeah... Mine goes away and I might as well be knitting a wool sweater in Africa for all the good it did me.

Rock on all u freaky brothers and sisters!

I'll sit over here in the corner and observe.

Hahahahaha! Yeah, I just don't really do revenge or get-over-it sex. No moral reason, just not my thing.

I did have a roommate at one time. She.... Oh, boy!

Still a leetle scarred from that friendship. :p

I have been trying to shut down "the feeling" for a while now. What's the point of me having a desire when my real life committed partner has no desire?!

I thought I would give Lit a shot so to not totally shut down.

On an unrelated note to the current discussion but related to a previous one, I think the Playground asks bad questions that warrant only a yes/no response. A bunch of "would, could, did" questions but very little "how or why" questions.

Not to mention a bunch of "men" insecure in their own sexuality who can't fathom to be creative in their answers. Who cares if the poster before you is a guy? Make something up. No one will think you are gay, and who knows maybe the ladies would like to see some guy/guy "flirtation". Hell, us guys enjoy the female/female banter.

Yes, I know I am guilty of the typical guy answers. To be honest I was trying to get my post count up fast.

Imagine if some of the "would, could, did" questions where "how"... so "would you kiss the lister above you?" Becomes "How would you kiss the lister above you?"

I would hope more revealing answers from the second question.

The games in question are like true/false or multiple choice questions. You're talking about something that would be more like short answer or essay questions, right? Hmm, snippets of descriptive prose ...

I dig it!

*off to start a new thread*

Pics - preferably video - or it didn't happen. :p

I support this viewpoint! :)

I see little point in joining those threads just to post "nope" under another guy in the hope that some Lit lady will then direct a "hell, yeah!" reply to me instead. Conversely, if I post a creative reply in the hope of attracting a similar response, the chances are that some other Lit guy will just post "nope" to get to their turn instead (or, sometimes, just skip me and reply to a lady a few posts above with "hell, yeah!").

I agree that those threads would be much more interesting if they asked a more open question rather than just seeking a yes/no response. :)

In my line of work we put a lot of emphasis on adult learning theory, and checking for understanding. What you describe above is a classic example of why it's preferable to ask open ended questions, as opposed to the closed ended, yes/no questions. Open ended questions REQUIRE more than a one word response. They always start with the classic who /what / when / where / how / why words. You get much better responses that way. It's all about how you ask the question. *end of lesson*.

Some of the simple-answer threads are perfectly fine (though I have spoken about cock-blocking on some of them). I have started some threads l, as others have, that require a longer answer, and sometimes they die because they are considered too high concept or too much work
