Everything Hockey

I would like to say I am surprised by the Utah team...but really i am not. If you have a decent GM when an expansion team gets their roster....essentially stealing decent players from other teams...you can build a solid competitive team. Sure they lost last night....to Vegas in OT...but look at Vegas....they won the Cup in their first year and have been competitive ever since. Makes me sad...cause that's what my Kraken could have been. I would not be surprised if either of these teams beats Colorado to get to the Final. The best teams are in the West again

Utah really isn't an expansion team. They are the relocated Phoenix Coyotes, who were the relocated original Winnipeg Jets.

Big win by the Bruins. The next game is crucial to the outcome of the series (I know, I stated the obvious).

I am looking forward to the TB - Montreal game tonight. Those have all been tight, down to the wire games. I almost hate to see the series end.

Edmonton fails again. This series really wasn't as close as the numbers indicated.

Before the playoffs started...I thought the Lightning were the better team. But having had a chance to watch a couple games...I think Montreal can win this series.

Sabres are up by 2 early

I wonder....if Montreal wins tonight...how many times in the past have we had four 1 seeds going against four 3 seeds? I am sure it has happened...but i bet it is rare. Hope i don't jinx them

Let's score 15 goals in a game. Jesus...that's one every 4 minutes on average.

Canes get game 2,took a while though.
Flyers played much better...game could have gone either way. Game 3 will decide the series. Flyers must show up to send a message. Otherwise this could easily be a sweep or 5 Game series. The thing about the playoffs....every team is one injury away from being eliminated. The Hurricanes are a much better team across lines...but that doesn't mean they win. I thought the Lightning was a better team...but Montreal owned them across the series. Part of why hockey is so great

I love how people are so freaked out about the Leafs winning the draft lottery. Just give it time. They're the Leafs--they'll screw it up themselves! :D

Critical game tonight for the Flyers. They must win on home ice. Hurricanes are a better team...by far...but i still want to see the Flyers win 2

Canes win fairly easily 4-1
# 11 for the Flyers is a goon, the Canes should just kick his ass for good measure.

Yep...series is over. You can not give good teams their power plays. It is free goals

If the Hurricanes can't make at least the finals this year, they'll never make it. This is by far the easiest path they've had in the East since they've been on this playoff run.

Yes...and no. The 2 best teams i think are playing each other on the other half of Conference...so only one will get through to play them. If that series goes long as I expect...then the Hurricanes get a huge advantage by having maybe up to a week to heal injuries. That is huge in the Playoffs and can compensate for potential roster issues. I know they are 7-0 in the playoffs. But one must look at who they played...not sure i can say they have played any elite team yet? But the potential rest can have a huge impact. Right now in the East i have been most impressed with Montreal. At the beginning of the season I didn't see this.

Colorado is in the same position as Carolina....they can close out their series early and the other half could go long. Even though I think the Aves are the best team every team is one small injury away from losing. Look at how many players were skating on losing teams already that had knee damage that in any other sport they would be shut down. Do people know how much leg strength it takes to skate with your knee essentially braced immobile? Fuck....

Definitely agree on the injuries. One major injury can undo it all. For the Canes, I just think there are no elite teams in the East this year, unlike pretty much every year for the past 15 or so years. I guess the Canes are the elite team in the East. But for so long the East has had multiple elite teams. That's just not the case this year. Buffalo and Montreal, especially, could be considered elite in a few years. But not now. If you are the single elite team in your conference you have to make it to the finals. There are multiple elite teams in the West - they all just happen to play in the same division so they are getting through their toughest opponents early. The Avs definitely are the best team in the league and a final aside from the Avs and Canes would be surprising to me - and disappointing, I would suspect, to those two respective fan bases.
