Thank you. Now that I no longer have Root Sports I can't watch many of the games but I've been trying to listen at least. I hope that I will be able to go to at least one game this year.Canes win 3-2 in OT,Kraken get a point.Good game tonight enjoyed it.
Get well soon Ms.Sassy.
I guess for me the difference is in why his leg even went up. Was it an accident or on purpose. That would make the difference to me.It is a shame the dude died from the skate cut to the neck. But here is the true insanity....they just arrested and charged the guy whose skate cut him with manslaughter. Might as well stop all contact sports. Shit happens. If it bothered you...charge the league for not requiring the neck protection that would have prevented it.
I have played hockey all my life, and have watched as much as anyone. Coached. It is a shame the dude died from the skate cut to the neck. This is graphic. Do not click link if it could bother you. A person died here...and this is the sad thingI guess for me the difference is in why his leg even went up. Was it an accident or on purpose. That would make the difference to me.
I wasn't there. But I have skated quasi- competitively. Here is how it could happen. While I'm sure he wasn't trying to kill him, to me it looked like a deliberate kick up high with a metal blade. I don't see how at all it was in the scope of a "hockey play"
While I don't like the idea of rushing to criminal charges when something violent happens within the context of a sport, this feels different (and not just because of a tragic death).

There are 3 guys involved. Guy 1 is who I am assuming got charged. He is smaller. Faster. One of those pain in the asses always causing disruption. Is he skating too fast? Maybe. But that is what those little fucks do. He sees Guy 2 on the line...I believe he just got rid of the puck. So Guy 1 pushes off with his left skate to bump shoulders with Guy 2. Guy 1 is a little behind...I don't feel it was a penalty...but I can also see an interference call. It just is scrappy play.
Guy 2 sees Guy 1 coming for him...that's why I don't feel it was a penalty...and pushes off with his right skate to take the hit. Only problem...Guy 2 weighs probably a good 50 pounds more than Guy 1. Guy 2's left shoulder catches Guy 1's right shoulder square. Guy 1 goes ass over apple cart
Now...anyone else that has gone ass over apple cart knows this is gonna hurt. Your left leg...which you just used to push into the hit...is off the ice. This leg has no where to go except straight out. If you are lucky...you can torque your body enough to land on your side...and you won't have the wind taken out. If you land on your back...you ain't getting right up. This movement...torques the skate from an up/down position...to one parallel to the ice
Unfortunately...Guy 3 is moving in...and the leg is right there. Because Guy 1 got his ass handed to him by Guy 2...the skate is nowhere it should be...and there is no controlling it. I doubt Guy 1 even saw Guy 3
He hasn't been charged. He's been arrested, yes. It's up to the CPS to see if there's any evidence of intention and if it's in the public's interest to authorise a charge. It is a shame the dude died from the skate cut to the neck.
