Canimalia

Maxine gave Gorgina a quick lick on her cheek. Feeling more confident. She leapt off the bottom of the stairs, And stood out in the rain as it drenched her top coat makign her fur al spikey as she stood besidge Gorgina, not really sure what was gonna happen but she did say follow her lead and thta was what she dicied to do, for the moment anyway.

"Me and M, I think. can't have all of the seats smelling of wet fur now, can we?" Georgina giggled as her fur started to get quite damp and clump up. "Good job I braught some hairbrushes..."

Netshocker

Net just stood and listened to the kid, his face still and unreadable. Even the personal affronts he let slide. After all, all he had to do was offer really. He damned sure wasn't go to rope the kid into doing things 'his way'. Finally he held up his hands palms outward and shrugged.

"The choice is yours to make. I'm not about to try and brow-beat you either way. I can respect your decision to tough it out on your own. All I was offering was an option. Those aren't generally handed out willingly."

He should have let it slide then and left, but something down deep inside wasn't quite ready to give up completely.

"I do have a couple of things that i take issue with on a personal level. Firstly... You don't know me from Adam, so you wouldn't have clue one about what I would want from you. Secondly, I wasn't saying I wanted to draft you into any sort of war. I actually just was offering some help to sort your life out and maybe do something to help matters."

He realized that anger was seeping through his tone of voice and he swallowed hard to contain it.

"You've got a point though on one level. Some of these 'mutant-groups' would use you like at newpaper as a hat in the rain. So... watch yourself kid. I can almost guarantee that sooner or later... someone else is going to find you and say something similiar.'

He dug into his pocket and pulled out a card and a comm-unit and set it on a ventilation exhaust nearby.

"If you find yourself in a tight spot... call. if it's a hella tight spot just hit the red-button. It's a tracking device, yeah, but it's only activated when YOu hit the panic button. Not that you'll probally hold on to it in the first place but..."

Net shrugged and adjusted his gun harness and jacket.

"It's there if you need me."

He turned and started walking back to the fire escape.

"Good luck, kid. You'll probally need it."

He threw his leg over the roof edge and began to climb down while opening the comm channel to the other devices."

"Alright Dennis, lets get this show on the road. I'm be car-side in 2."

As he descended the stairs, he failed to see a translucent shimmer at a far corner of the rooftop......

gotcha dude but it`s going to be a tight fit with three people and a dog.*Dennis sighs and looks at the car*right.....how are we going to do this....

"Well, I'll go in first, then M can lay across me. You two can go in the front I guess" Georgina opened the car door and climbed in, helping Maxine in too, sitting on the seat and letting Maxine lay across her, holding her securely

Netshocker

Net was not in a good modd at all now, but he tried his best not to take it out on the others. Still his voice was a little more gruff than he intended when he spoke.

"I've crammed 7 people in this car on a 3 hour chase before Dennis. I think you'll be able to survive being snug for a short drive up the mountain. Toshiro, or whatever your name is.... get in the back with Georgina and the..."

Net stopped and took off his sunglasses as he looked into the back seat.

"What the hell? Why is there a dog in my... Shit. Never mind. Everybody just get in. I'm hungry."

Net slid behind the wheel and waited until everyone was seatbelted in before he pulled out the lot and began the drive to The Compound. Along the way his temper eased and soon he was chatting away, attempting to explain things and share a little about himself in order to get them to open up.

"So yeah... My names Dean Braddock, but in the field I go by the handle Netshocker. The place we are headed to is called The Compound. It's a super-advanced war bunker that has been specially outfitted to our needs. There is a perimeter defense grid, state of the art communications, 5 floors both above and below ground level. For now stick to the area above ground. There's two wings, so I suppose Georgina you get your choice of any room on the ladies side. Dennis, you and Tosh here can share a room or pick your own. The master suite is mine, obviously, and is located on the top floor."

Net smiled as he looked around at everyone.

"I didn't happen to mention the AI system did I?", he reached forward and flipped a button on what appeared at first glance to be the cars cd-player, "Angel, say hello to the kids."

The soft synthetic voice came through the car speakers, "Hello, children. It is a pleasure to meet you. "

Net's smile got even bigger as her looked around again.

Georgina pouted. "Kid? Hmph! i'm in my 20s thank-you-very-much!" She consoled herself by stroking Maxine and reclining. Knowing that no-one except herself knew that the 'big dog' was infact her mutant friend, an knowing that Maxine is very shy about going out to new places with strange men, she comforted her and smiled, planning to reveal her intent once they were alone

"So, uh, a handle, huh? That some sort of nick-name or something?"

Georgina leaned forward, playfully slapping Dennis on the back of the head. "I *was* asking him dummy"

hey!*Dennis accidentally lets his claws unsheath and blushes as he quickly retracts them*now look what you almost made me do.

Joe almost lauhed at the vent, almost twice as high as he was tall. No one could jump up that high, least of all do something once they actually went up there.

"No... I couldn't..." But, a brush of bullets went overhead once more, and one of the chairs piled up broke and fell off, allowing for some leeway to the door. It was rammed open a few inches, before holding fast. Someone rammed into it again, it threatened to give, but stayed still.

Joe really didn't have an opportunity to think, because the suit never really gave him that opportunity. He leapt, too easily, grabbing the sides of the vent, and using it to hold himself up there. In one gut wrenching tear the panel fell to the floor. He moved with ease up inside the tight air shaft.

Joe held out his hand, "All right, so maybe I can."

The door buckled once more, gave way a few more inches, and a partial face could be seen.

Netshocker

Net glared sideways at Dennis.

"Keep those things sheathed... You poke a hole a in my leather and you and me will have words."

Looking back in the mirror at Georgina, Net nodded.

"Yeah. Handle is a nickname. You don't exactly want every bad guy you lock up or stop from destroying the world to know who you are and go for your kin, now would you?"

Net turned the car off of the main highway and onto the road that lead up to The Compound. Another 5 minutes and they would be there.

"Sorry about the 'kid' thing.... It's a habit. Now what's with the dog? Better yet... what's with the oriental guy? I haven't heard him speak word one. Does he even speak English? Hold on..."

Net pulled the car to a stop outside of the main gate, then leaned out to enter his access code into the box near the drive. The gates swung open and he pulled forward again.

"Kid... uhm, everyone, welcome to The Compound. Home Sweet Home."

He continued to drive up to the massive house until he parked the car in front of the front porch.

"Angel... Deactivate the away security grid. There's four of us entering."

"Complying."

"Okay. Everyone out."

Rewind

She was pissed. Really pissed. She almost had the target when that giant oaf had come clambering over the damned ceiling. She had to over extend her power just enough to get back into her hiding position. Fortunately for her the guy had seemed distracted. It didn't help the pain in her chest though.

She sat and listened as the guy gave some sort of 'do-gooder' speech to the target. She was tempted to stick a knife in the guys back just to put an end to his self-righteousness, but chances were that the target would have gotten away.

But now... The mountain of muscle was gone and the kid was alone again.

"Perfect.", she purred to herself.

She waited until there were no more sounds and drew a deep quiet breathe, slowly reaching out and trying to synch the time correctly around the target so that he would see the same thing for just long enough for her to sneak up on him. Feeling that it was right, she ran from her cover.

Then the pain intensified and she felt the time-control slip.

"Damn it!"

She doubled over, arms crossed over her chest, fighting the haze of blackness that threatened to wash over her. Glancing up she saw him staring at her, eyes widened in surprise.

Sentry

Andrew jumped up and threw himself bodilly against the pile of junk blocking the door. The whole pile moved a bit, but just enough to jam the door back, smacking the face as it poked around the corner. The unfortunate man shouted out in pain, jerking back out of sight.

Andrew didn't wait. Springboarding off the pile, he ran and jumped up, catching Joe's outstretched hand. He was hauled up effortlessly and the two found themselves in a tight and cramped, silvery vent system.

"Get going kid." he said. "Anywhere's got to be better than here right now."

The two crawled down the tiny space, shuffling as quickly as they could.
"We can't be too far from the motor pool, or at least ground level. We just have to find a safe place to drop down at."

Jack lounged out on the couch of the compound. Jack still wore his jeans and Led Zepplin t-shirt from earlier, but now was barefoot.. He had opted to perform his meditation excercises rather than to go to sleep. Jack always felt refreshed after meditating. Sometimes, an hour of meditating left him more relaxed and refreshed than a full eight hours of sleep. Jack attributed that it had something to do with his powers, but he never fully looked in to it. Truth be told, Jack liked to think he was just reaching a higher lever of consciousness.

But how much more conscious can a telepath, especially one as powerful as Jack, become? Not much more, Jack reckoned.

It had been through meditation that Jack learned to control and harness his powers. He had spent only two years at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, but those two years had been very fruitful ones. Jack fondly remembered the other telepaths he met there. Jean, Betsy, and even the famous Professor X himself all had a hand in teaching Jack to control his powers. It was Betsy that had taught Jack the benefits and enjoyment of meditation. He'd always be thankful to her for that.

Jack suddenly tilted his head up from the magazine he was reading. He sensed Dean's thoughts but also the thoughts of several others. Jack couldn't zero in on exactly how many, but it was definately more than four, including Dean. Angel came on over Jack's communicator.

"Netshocker has returned with the targets, Seer."

"Tell me something I don't all ready know, Angel," Jack responded.

"They have arrived in the main garage, you can meet them in the foyer," Angel replied back.

"Now that I didn't know."

Jack swung his feet off the couch and felt the soft carpet under his feet. He made his way to the foyer by way of the kitchen to pick up a sandwhich. He arrived just as Dean and the others entered into the house.

"Hello," Jack said telepathically to the entire group as he munched on his sandwhich, "My name is Jack, but around here they call me Seer. Welcome."

Jack looked at the rather large dog accompanying the group. He raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything.

Arko - Denial O'Neal

Denial heard some movement and thought that man had returned to pester him again.

When Denial looked out of the shed he saw a woman fall to the floor in pain. He was surprized to see some one else here. "I wonder if she heard that man?"

"Are you ok ma'am?" Denial asked with a louder voice to be heared of the noise the rain was making.

sorry dude, they pop out sometimes if someone slaps my head. didn`t mean to.*once the car is parked Dennis gets out and stretches a bit*

Georgina happilly climbed out of the car with Maxine. "Oh well, I guess there's no pint in delaying this any longer. Everyone, this is Maxine, my friend. She was just gonna stay until she's decided to join up. Is that ok?"

She suddenly got spooked when someone started talking to her in her mind, and looked around in a panic. "Hey, whos'e doing that??"

"Didn't mean to catch you off guard, Georgina," Jack replied, "this is just how I usually communicate with people while am eating." Jack gave smile upon finishing his sandwhich.

"As I previously stated, my name is Jack, codename: Seer. And I'm the resident telepath here at the Compound. Trained by Net's cousin Betsy no less." I looked over the group with a discerning eye. "I can show you all to your rooms now if you want."

Rewind

OOC: Sorry about my absence... Long weekend.

IC:

His voice sounded as if it were coming through a wall of water. She could barely make out the words but by the tone knew that he was asking if she was okay.

She would have spit venom at him if she wasn't busy trying to die at the moment. Weakly she tried to paw at the air with one hand as the other clenched tightly over her breasts, desperately seeking for something to aide her in regaining her feet.

Then, in the spinning kaliedscope, a plan came to her. She'd need time regain her strength. Painfully, she sucked in a gasp of air and spoke almost breathlessly.

"A... man... attacked me. I was... sitting on... the...", she left the rest unsaid, hoping that he'd have the sense to fill in her false accusation for her.

Netshocker

Net nodded.

"Seer, get them settled in. I would probally hold off on that shower, and definately the idea of sleep for a little bit though. I've got some scans to run..."

Net was about to turn and head towards the comm-bay, but stopped and turned back to small group.

"Oh, and Maxine... no shedding on the furniture. If you are going to be inside, do it on two feet. I just finished paying for the commons furniture. You are all free to redecorate your own quarters at your whim, provided you do not violate any major health or fire codes. You are all grown-ups here, I'll leave you to familiarize yourself with the living areas. For now stick to the top floors. I'll give the expanded tour when I have more time."

He turned away then and made his way to the lounge to grab a drink before heading downstairs to the comm-bay.

ah man! dude, I can`t even get a cold unless I expend a shitload of energy and I don`t mean the regular kind.
