Halia

Halia nodded her head at Perrin, "Ah, I will get to him, maybe I will work him free and he can help me. Do you have a weapon that I can give him? "

"Yes, here, take my sword. I will not be using it in this fight. The axe is more my temperment right now. Now go."

Halia takes the sword and goes off to the side of the cave. She makes it close to the edge of the pit, when she notices that one of the hobgoblins has seen her and is about to strike. Suddenly Halia notices fletching appear in the Hobgoblins eye as it falls dead to the ground. She gets to the edge of the pit and looks down. Edge is down there, but looks to be in ok shape. He is tied to a stake that is mounted to the wall. Halia silently lets herself into the pit. Motioning Edge to silence, she cuts him loose. She watches as he moves his arms and legs, getting some blood supply back in them. She smiles at him and hands him Perrins sword. It is a little large for him, but will serve him well in the upcoming fight. Halia draws her own sword, "Come Edge, lets take some revenge out of hobgoblin hide. "

Edge

I shake the feeling back into my imbs, looking ar Halia, pleased to see her. She hands me Perrin's sword, a large chunk of metal as Perrin was a large chunk of human flesh. Heavy, but I could manage. I was intent on finding my own weapons again, or at least replacements of them.
I nod to her, then point to the others in the pit.
"Perhaps it would be wise to take up some more allies," I suggest. "But the decision is yours."
WIth that, I climb quickly out of the pit, met by a Hobgoblin, advancing to stop our escape. A quick swing and the creature goes down, screaming in pain as its arm lands on the ground a few feet away. I step closer and bury the end of the blade in the creature's head, silencing it.
More were coming, and the weapon, one excellent for a man of Perrin's size, with brute strength, was not so effective in the hands of a man used to using finesse to dispatch his enemies. I would stand though, and wait for Halia to escape along with me.

Halia

Halia looks over at Edge. She had not thought to free them all, since they were only here for Edge. The mercenary in her warred with her compassion. They could not afford to take care of these other prisoners, said one side. But they are in need of help and cannot be left here to die, said the other side. Her mind was made up when she realized that maybe these people would be cannon fodder and allow them to escape. She goes to the nearest and cuts him loose. " I am sorry, but I do not have weapons to give you. If you look to the ground, a lot of hobgoblins have been killed so you may be able to get their weapons. Here is my extra dagger, cut your friends loose and then get the hell out of here. I expect that dagger back when you are done."

She hands him a plain dagger, sharp and efficient. She reaches the edge of the pit and pulls herself up. She notices that Edge has already taken revenge on one of the hobgoblins. She grabs the fallen weapon and drops it into the pit. She grabs Edges shoulder and they start to move towards the other members of the party.

Tanthalas slashed to the left and the right, killing or at least wounding a hobgoblin almost every time. But there was simpley to many. Sooner or latter he would collapse from just the shear number of them. Finally spotting Perrin off to his left he dashes for him. Side stepping a swing Perrin had made on a near by hobgoblin, Tanthalas comes to a halt beside him. "Perrin! Do you think you can hurl that, " nodding to the cauldren of bubbling oil, " at them? I'm pretty sure that would slow them down enough for us all to escape. I'll shoot it with a lit arrow as you throw it at them and the'll have some nice burning rain." Slashing at a nearby hobgoblin, Tanthalas awaited what Perrin had to say....

Perrin

Perrin looks over at Tanis. "Eh, I can do that as long as you watch my back. " Perrin sheathes his axe in his back harness and gets close to the cauldron. He stretches his long arms to encompass the whole cauldron. The pain is excruciating as the heat of the cauldron moves into his arms. His clothing provides some protection but not enough. He is able to dislodge the cauldron and send it rolling towards the Hobgoblins. A few are killed outright as they are crushed by the solid metal. Beating out the flames on the ground, Perrin turns to Tanis. "Your turn"

Edge

The oil came spilling down the sloped ground toward the pit, but we were out of the way. Hobgoblins screamed in pain as thier bodies were hit by the steaming liquid, some actually alight with flame as the liquid touched their clothing. I slowed as a few scurried out of the way of the liquid toward Halia and I and sliced them down as quickly as I could move the large sword.
I need my weapons back, I thought again.
The sword was serving well enough, though. i followed Halia through the crowd of frantic Hobgoblins toward where the others fought, slashing away at any of the creatures who got too close.
As I moved higher up the slope, I glanced behind me, making sure none had gotten too close where I couldn't see them.
I saw further down the slope that the other prisoners had managed to get out of the pit, but not all had done so with luck. One lay on the ground, already killed, while one stood, a short sword buried in his gut, the Hobgoblin who'd stabbed him still holding onto the handle of the weapon.
A third had gotten hold of a weapon, an ax (possibly the one Halia had thrown into the pit), and cut the hobgoblin down.
From where I stood, I could see five of them alive, two armed. They had little chance if they didn't find weapons soon.
I looked to Halia. "We have to get to Perrin and the others."

Arciris

Surrounded I began to recite a battle hymn, one that invoke the favour of Sul, granting me some added speed and strength. Slashing upward my sword knocked away a descending axe, the return swing took the arm and bit deep into the side of an other. Sword trapped, I released my hold and snapped a right cross into the face of an enemy left hand grabbing at the sword he held. Twisting around full circle, ripping the blade for my opponant. I now held the two handed sword buried deep within his throat. It came out easy, as I ducked down to avoid another sword form the next attacker. Leaping shoulder first, catching him under the ribs, we both went down rolling to my feet, I look down to see his own dagger standing buried to the hilt in his chest. Releasing my hold on the knife, I found myself at the edge to the pit. Catching a glimpse of Halia and Edge already making the way through the throng. Other prisoner where climbing out of the pit defenceless they were being cut down. Chopping hard into the back of one hobgoblin that had just speared one man as he tired to fend with his bare hands. Pulling the spear free, I could see it was to late,
"Here take this" I pressed the weapon into the hands of woman survivor. Bent down and retrieved the sword of the hob I just killed and handed it a man standing still with shocked face.
" Stay close to me and thrust with your weapon only, I've no time to show their use."
I enter the fray trying my best to keep the two alive. A hobgoblin swung a blow at the man, he stood terrified as the blade came towards him. I grabbed his hand with my left using his sword to block, then thrust it forward into the creatures shoulder. Seeing movement to the right I forgot all about the man when the woman screamed. She had pushed forward with her spear missing wildly. The Hob grabbed the shaft and was rasing a weapon to end her life.
Time slowed, my mind slipped back to into my past. I stood in vast field my wife with infant son in her arms. Riders rode between the tables scattering chairs, one came bearing down on me sword held high. On he came as I tried to catch his arm as it descended, the horse turned as I held on dragging the man form his mount. There was a scream and my wife was down.
" NO NOT AGAIN"
My sword blocked the hobgoblin's, I reached back pulling the woman behind me. I felt pain at my side. The wounded hobgoblin had killed the man, and ran his sword into the flesh over my hip. Holding the impaling sword, I stood arms locked in a deadly struggle.

Halia

Halia looks over at Edge. "You are right, lets get to Perrin so we can all get out of here. First, lets get to the paladin, he looks to be in trouble. " Halia leads Edge over to the Paladin, Edge guarding her back as she attacks the hobgoblins hedging in the Paladin. She is able to kill three of them with the element of suprise , with her coming from behind, they never knew what hit them. Halia noticed that Arcisis was wounded and was holding on to a hobgoblin with desperate strength. Halia took off the hobgoblins arm with a wicked swing, the limb falling to the ground. She grabs the sword and quickly pulls it out of the wound.

"Normally I would have left that in, but Hobgoblins are not very clean. Let me quickly bind this for you, dont try to heal it now, there is no time. Ok, there you go. Come both of you, time to get to Perrin and Tanis and get out of here. "

Perrin

Perrin is kneeling on the ground , suffering with his burns , when the pain is suddenly doubled. Perrin looks over and sees that a hobgoblin with a large bone headdress is pointing its staff at him. The pain is almost to much for Perrin to bear, but he gets to his feet. He realizes that this is the Shaman that helps keep these tribes together. Small step by small step, he makes his way closer. The Shaman looks for a way out, but has backed himself into a corner. The shaman smiles an evil smile and shakes his staff again. AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH........the pain..........the pain of his brain getting ready to explode. MUST NOT......WILL NOT........... His body, driven by the necessitation to live, causes his talent to kick in. NO, I would rather die than this. God help me, I can not control this.

His body writhes in extacy as his limbs elongate, the musculature increasing as well. Thick white hair sprouts all over his body. His face rushes out to a point. A thick black nose topped by bloodred eyes. His hands, always rough, are replaced with sharpened claws. With a cry of rage, the Polar bear strikes down the Shaman. His powerful arms ripping the shaman apart piece by piece. His muzzle awash in blood, the bear turns from its prey. The pain has ended, but he is still locked in this form. His mind is also locked behind animal instincts, but he can help form some thoughts for it. He leads his overlarge form to where Jeselynn is hiding around the corner. His control wavers , but he is able to get his new body to sit down. He looks over to Jeselynn for help. It has been a long time since this happened. He just hoped that she could help him.

Tanthalas slashed at a nearby hobgoblin, killing it as Perrin rolled the oil into them. Hmm wasnt exactly what I had in mind but it will do. Fighting his way to a stack of crates, Tanthalas turns around towards where the oil is. Seeing Perrin shout out in pain he looks about. Surely the shamen must be close to be able to hurt him so quickly. Eying him near Perrin he draws his bow back, ready to let a arrow fly at the shamen head when he is distracted by a polar bear. Wavering slightly he watches in horror as the bear rips apart the shamen. Shaking his head, he goes back to what he had planned to do. Ripping a piece of cloth from his cloak he ties it around the tip of a arrow. Looking around for a torch to light the strip of cloth with he is hit in his back. Flying forwards off the crate he hits the ground hard. Rolling to the right he just barely misses as a axe come rushing down where he had been moments before. Still holding onto the arrow he jabs it into the hobgoblins ear, smiling as the hobgoblin lets out with a roar as he thrashes about. Grabbing up his sword from where it had landed on the ground he buries it to the hilt on the hobgoblin. As the hobgoblin slouches to the ground, its blood pouring out of him he yanks the arrow out of its head. Finally seeing a nearby torch he lights the small strip of cloth and lets it fly towards the oil on the ground. He smiles as he watches it all catch fire spreading quickly about the room. Now to find the others, he thinks to himself as he rushes towards where the pit is, flames dancing all about him....

Edge

Thing were happening fast, and still, I felt burdened by this large weapon. I slashed through whatever Hobgoblins came near as Halia cared for the Paladin.
Once she was finished, I glanced back.
"We have to move," i insisted, injuries or not. There're many of them. No matter how many I kill..." I trailed off, turning back to face another as it ran near us. I parried its weapon, then lunged and stabbed it through the gut.I glanced around, trying to get a quick count of how many stood close, but also scanning as much of the area as I could. I saw them, then, bound with an old leather strap and hanging from a short post near a few feet from the pit, on the opposite side.
All three of my swords, dangling there, seeming to beg me to retrieve them.
I glanced back to Halia.
"Do you think yo ucna handle this for a moment or two? I have something I feel I must reclaim."

Halia

Halia looks over and sees Edges swords. She smiles crookedly at him. "Of course I will take it for you. Go get your own. Damn this thing is heavier than I remember. I will give this back to the big oaf when we get back together with them. " She helps the paladin to his feet. "Come on , lets keep on eye on the hobgoblins so Edge can get his weapons. "

Edge

I dodged between the hobgoblins, taking advantage of my lightweight status, having no weapons to weigh me down, and slipped past most of them. When one finally got a hold of me, I simply twisted my body quickly, causing the cloth of my shirt to slip from its fingers, and I was free again, moving away too quickly for it to attack. Once I reached the post, I grabbed the three weapons and tore at the leather strap. It let loose fairly easily, and I grabbed my long sword, turning to find one of the hobgoblins had reached me already. I parried its attack to my right, spinning with the momentum of the movement and severing its head when I came around again.
As the body fell, I felt a grin on my face. I didn't smile much, but this one was genuine. It felt good to be moving at the right speed, with the right weapon again.
I felt like myself again.
I grabbed the two short swords, still in their sheaths, and the sheath for the long sword, and tied them together with the strap again. No time to properly dress them to myself, just belt them to my back and hope they don't fall.
As I secureed them in place, I saw another familiar item.
Idiots, I thought. They trap me in a pit, and in order to secure my weapons, they place both them, and my shield just a few feet away.
I grabbed the item, turning and starting back through the creatures again to meet with Halia.I was there in mere seconds, having blocked a few blows with my shiled and slashed a few of the creatures down in the process.
"All ready," I said, turning to face the direction from which I'd come. Another attacked. I stepped to one side, letting the blade it carried slice through the air and sink into the ground, then calmly slipped the tip of the blade between its ribs, causing it to growl deeply, then slump.
"Easy enough," I muttered. "Halia, which way?"

Arciris

Holding my hand to the wound, I look around for the woman I had saved, only to find her headless corpse upon the ground. My hand tightened on the hilt.
" Thank you Halia, Its seams there is no one left to rescue but myself. I'll be aright. " I smiled grimly, taking one more look for any others I could save. Seeing none, I set to clearing a path. Edge returned, an the three of us fought together attempting to reach the others. I was then we saw the transformation one minute Perrin stood holding his head in his hands, then he began to change, Finally a white bear roared an attacked.
" SUL " I cried " What manner of evil have they done to him."
The bear broke the sprit of our enemy, many ran towards exits fighting each other in an attempt to escape. Our way was clear for the moment, and we took advantage to gain ground.

Tanthalas Tanthalas leaped over flames as left and right of him hobgoblins ran in utter horror. Seeing Perrin turn into a full grown polar bear did little good for thier moral. As Tanthalas neared the pit he spotted Halia and Arciris with anouther man with thim. Ahhh that must be the friend they are here to rescue, he thought to himself. "Hey over here!!," he yelled, " Jeselynn and Perrin are over this way." Pointing in the direction Jeselynn and Perrin where hidden he ran towards the three. Reaching thim he looks at the new man, "Hi, the names Tanthalas. We can have all the other nice little introductions when we get out of here.Do you need any help?" Seeing blood covering all three people, Tanthalas hoped it was hobgoblins blood and not thiers....

Edge

As the new man introduced himself and asked if we needed assistance, I shook my head.
"He'll be alright for the moment," I explained. "For now, we must get out of here..."

Halia

Halia went around the corner and saw Jeselynn was being bothered by a large white bear. Pulling out her sword, she prepared to run it through. The bear turned to her and looked at her with sorrowful blue eyes. "It is me Halia, please just leave me be. " Halia had never seen something like this before and was taken aback. "All right then, lets get out of here. Perrin are you going to be able to carry Jeselynn safely so we can get out of here."

Perrin answers here, "Ah, I can carry here with my claws in. Come let us go out the way that we came. We know there are no Hobgoblins that way. Tanis, please take the lead, you should be able to get us out of here. "

Jeselynn

Watching as the group returned to me, i was happy to see everyone was ok.

'we must leave now. i am not well and we still must collect our new steads.. once we return to our camp, i will rest and then we must move on.'

"let's go, the sooner I rest I can do something for our wounds". Putting my words into action, we all filed down the tunnels.

Perrin

Carrying Jeselynn was lighter than the burden in Perrins heart. He had never understood why this happened to him. He tried to lead a good life and he was loyal to a fault. Yet at times, he changed into this demonic Polar bear, and wrecked havoc. Walking out of the mouth of the cave, Perrin felt embarrassment that the outside world would see him like this. A single tear stained the white fur of the bear. A sudden change overtook Perrin. Before he had time to put Jeselynn on the ground, his body reverted back to human form. He put Jeselynn carefully on her horse, making sure she could keep her balance. He looked at his arms , checking for scaring from the heat of the cauldron. He looks in amazement to see that his wounds are completely healed as if they never were. Maybe there are some advantages to this, if it allows me to heal much faster. I will have to think on this further. Perrin gets astride his own horse and waits for the others to mount.

Jeselynn

As Perrin picked my up, i felt good inside. pure confusion...scared to hurt anyone around him.

As he changed back to himself, he was more relaxed...

I was sat onto my horse and kinda leaning to keep my balance we all started back to camp..

I felt a cold crisp air come from behind and turning to look saw only aa mountian of ice. I fell from my horse and dizzyly started chanting. Trying to clear this vision from my mind.

Braak Thayne

I let the image in my mind slip away.

'They are a determined and resourceful group' I think to myself.

I wait in my chambers, meditating, for this group to approach the temple.

Arciris

Limping towards my horse, I gripped the saddle with one hand, the other removing the cloth rapping. The sword had passed through over the hip bone, striking only flesh. Pouring fresh water over the wound, I tore strips form a spare shirt and wrapped it tight about myself. Satisfied it would hold in place, I took a drink from the water skin. I heard someone fall, turning I saw Jeselynn fall from her horse, racing over I knelled down, lifting her into a sitting position. She began a chant in a tongue I could not understand.
" Jeselynn are you alright can you hear me?". I looked to the others for answers.

Perrin

Perrin looked over at the paladin. "I am not sure what she is doing either. We had all just met not that long ago to come on this quest. I know little of mages as a general rule. Maybe Edge might know a little more than I do. "

Arciris

" Get on your horse Perrin, I'll hand her up to you. Halia stay close to them,"
Mounting sent agony ripping into my side, siting in the saddle for a moment to dispel the dizziness. I grabbed at the rains, turning the horse down the trail.

" If your not to wounded Edge you could watch the back trail, Tanis take the lead I will follow."
Kicking my mount into a canter the party made it's way down the path.

" Well, we made it out almost in one piece, not a bad start to an adventure eh. Hopefully Those Hobgoblin clan are still running, the town of Freeport can sleep safe for awhile."
Moving my horse close to Perrin, I reach out and put a hand on Jeselynn's forehead. She seamed ok put she still spoke in the strange language. Looking up at the axe man.

"You seamed to expected the change that came over you my friend, Is there nothing that can end the curse upon you. There are Clerics at the temple that excel in such? "
