Freeport Adventurers

Tanthalas loses his concentration for a slit secound as the elf, he believed her name was Jeselynn, shot a wave of flame's down the tunnel. Gaining his composre back he nocked anouther arrow and let fly. There was just to many of them. At that moment he heard a cry of pain from behind. Glancing back he noticed that the cry was comeing from Jeselynn. Starting to turn back to help the elf he saw the big man at the back of the group come to her aid, leaving 2 hobgoblins laying behind him against a wall. Turning back around, he gasped. The tunnel was once more full of hobgoblins. Getting ready to pull anouther arrow the wall beside him crumbled leading into anouther passage. Glancing back he watched as the big man started helping her into the doorway she had created. Decideing that this wasnt a fight he could win alone he slung his bow back onto his back and pulled his sword guarding the rear as the others begain fileing into the opening...

Moving past the axe man and the half elf handing perrin the spiked club.

" Collapse the tunnel after us, I'll see what I can do for Jeselynn."
Moving to the drow, I handed my sword to Halia. Taking hold of the sorceress's shoulders, I cast lay hands.

" It's all I can do" I apologized " It should keep you on your feet."
" Can you still find Edge with your stone Lady mage. "

This tunnel looked much like the last, a person could lost in this labyrinth.

Perrin

Grasping the spiked club in his large hands, Perrin looked at the ceiling of the tunnel. He smiled as he saw that many hobgoblins were still coming up the main tunnel. Knocking down the roof, would take care of a lot of these Hobgoblins. Perrin took a few swings at the cracked stone above the tunnel mouth, fissuring the stone further. He could hear cries of rage and pain as the roof of the tunnel dropped on the hobgoblins. He had to move back fast as the entrance to their tunnel also collapsed . Spitting out pieces of stone, Perrin joined the main party . "Sorry about that, I get carried away at times. Jeselynn, please get us to Edge fast, I have a bad feeling about this. "

Tanthalas had been standing behind the big man, his name was Perrin if Tanthalas remembered correctly. As he slashed out at any hobgoblin that got close to them, he watched in wonder as Perrin begain strikeing the ceiling with a very large spiked club. Realizing what they was planning, Tanthalas took a few steps back, dropping his sword and pulling out his bow again. It would do them no good if the hobgoblins over ran Perrin before he could finish what he had started. Any hobgoblin that came near enough, Tanthalas would let a arrow loose into them. After a few more hits the roof of the tunnel finally collapsed in on itself, showering Tanthalas and Perrin with rubble and dust. Spitting out some dust he turned back to the others.

Perrin joined them saying, "Sorry about that, I get carried away at times. Jeselynn, please get us to Edge fast, I have a bad feeling about this. " Tanthalas nodded, " I do that myself sometimes. But yes we must hurry. Jeselynn are you strong enough to sho us which way to go.?" Tanthalas then begain checking the ground, looking for any type of tracks, hopeing it would at least give them some clue on which way to go....

Perrin

Perrin looks over at Jeselynn, "I will carry you if need be, I am strong enough to do that . It will also allow you to conserve your strength for the battle ahead. " Perrin looks down at the drow, waiting for her answer.

Jeselynn

barely standing... looking into Perrin's eyes and only seeing fog..
hearing fuzz.. 'please slowly' i started speaking in drow... unable to control the language..

'please, help me up' i stammered in common..
'i must have help. I cannot stand. I feel dead.' i spoke

Perrin

Seeing that she was having a hard time standing and speaking gibberish, Perrin gently scooped her up in his arms. He rested her head against his shoulder. He looked at his companions. " You will all have to help protect us. I can not protect myself or her while carrying her. I am counting on all of you to help, especially you Halia. " Perrin turns back up the tunnel, taking a place in the middle of the group.

Looking up at every one, Tanthalas frowned. "It looks like there's a lot more hobgoblins then I thought. There's at least anouther good forty of them roaming around." Pointing at the ground he goes on, " And it looks like this is the way they brought your friend from the looks of these marks." Standing up he looked at every one before continuing. "They took him that way but I'm afraid by the time we get there they would of already killed him. We have to hurry." Turning around he starts heading down the tunnel, checking the ground every few feet......

Halia

Halia agrees with Tanis, there is more hobgoblins in this band than there used to be. She nodded her head at Perrin , she would help protect him and Jeselynn. She went to the rear of the party to help protect their backs.

Jeselynn

I realized I had just taken a 'Mind blow'. I powerful spell, i would not feel it's full affects for a few hours, and we had to be out of danger before then...

'we must hurry, it will get worse before it gets better' i spoke to Perrin.

'I will not be well for 12 or so hours. There is nothing that can be done to hurry the spells passing. ' i went on..

my body seemed to shake and go limp in spasims...

Perrin

Listening with concern, Perrin hears what Jeselynn says. He knows little of magic so it makes little sense to him. However he yells up the those if front , "Hurry up all of you, we need to get Jeselynn through here quickly and it looks like we will be saving Edge without her help. "

Tanthalas nodded. Drawing his sword he started down the tunnel again searching for any hidden doors along the way as well as the tracks on the ground. Hearing a slight rumbling up ahead of them he turned back and went to the others. "There be something up there. I do not know what but it is very load. It almost sounded like drum beats...."

Perrin

Perrin looks over at Tanis . "Well, we have two choices. We can go forward or abandon Edge to his fate. I for one am for going forward. I never leave a friend behind when it can be avoided. Jeselynn needs some rest, but we also need to take care of the person responsible for her condition. If not, that person will come after us again. Lets go on. "

Arciris

Coming to the end of the tunnel, I stepped out onto a small ledge. stairs led down to the left and right. The ledge looked out over a huge cavern. Down some forty or fifty feet was a huge bonfire, the fire was surrounded by hobgoblins. On the far side of the fire was a large pit, against the wall opposite stood a stake being prepared for some ritual.

" I count at least four totems, This is not one clan but many, I smell a war council. That can only mean bad things for Freeport. I don't see Edge he could already be in the pit, we may be too late. I don't see any shaman either."

Jeselynn

'i can feel them, there are 15. They are angry. They seem to be covering more than one tribe...' i spoke.

reaching with my mind i locate Edge. 'he is alive, in the pit... there are others in there too..' i spoke again.

'we must try to save them.' i took a deep breath, 'i don't think i'll be much help..'

Perrin

Perrin puts Jeselynn down gently on the ground. "You stay here, behind this outcropping where you will be safe. The rest of us will go rescue Edge. " Perrin stretches and then takes his axe from behind his back. Swinging it a few times to limber up, Perrin looks at the others. "Follow me when we go down, I will take the brunt of the assault. If you see anything strange happen to me, do not be alarmed. There is more to me than meets the eye. " Perrin prepares to lead them in the attack.

Halia

Halia turns to Jeselynn, "I am not sure if you are armed or not, but take this dagger. It has served to save my life more than once. " She hands over a silver dagger inlaid with some small gems. "I am ready Perrin, I will follow you to help rescue Edge from this fate. " She pulls her sword from the scabbard, kissing the blade for luck.

Tanthalas smiled at Jeselynn. "Hearty bunch ya got here." Turning back down the tunnel he sliped his bow from his back, and nocking a arrow all in one swift motion. Glancing over at Perrin he nodded. If he was to die it would at least be against the ones that had killed his parents....

Perrin

"What say you Paladin, are you with us to fight these overweening monsters? It will be even longer odds without your blade. "

Arciris

Looking around at my companions, I spy an item on the ground.
"Hobgolins are just as mistrusting of other clan as they are of outsiders. Let's even the odds , If we can disturb the peace between the clan It would make a fine diversion."
Reaching down I picked up a lone arrow, Decorated with feather off green and blue.
" Handy of them to mark their clan so. Don't you think Half elf, Makes it easier to tell them apart."
Hand the arrow to Tanis, He Knocked and drew.

Tanthalas take's the arrow, nocking it. "I couldnt of said it better myself. " Smililing he turns to look at each of them. "I will be back. May the gods protect us all." He wispers as he hurries down the tunnel. Drawing close to the end of the tunnel he looks down at all the hobgoblins roaming around and his stomach lurches. There must be at least a hundred of them, he thinks to himself. Looking over the hobgoblins, searching for some one that looks very important to let his arrow loose on...

Perrin

"Ok Tanis, just be careful , we can ill afford to lose someone else. Halia, can you sneak around the edges of the cave and get to the Pit. I want to make sure that we are not wasting our efforts and that Edge is still alive. "

Arciris

Halia moved through the shadows as tanis poised with arrow drawn. Letting fly with aim true, It took a huge Hobgoblin full in the neck. A piercing scream went up followed by tumultuous yelling,
" NOW!!!" I yelled

Following the axe man down the stairs, I spied and opening, and jumped feet first crushing the skull of one hobgoblin. Fighting amongst themselves, the melee was well under way as we cut a path through the ranks. Facing three hobs I managed to block their blows as they struck at me. An arrow appeared within the left eye of the right most foe, giving me an opportunity to decapitate my left assailant. Following up on the odds, my sword entered the vitals of the remaining enemy. I lost sight of Halia and Perrin, all I saw was a sea of green flesh ready to fall before my blade.

Tanthalas let loose with arrow after arrow. Is there ever a end to these dam hobgoblins, he wondered. Seeing a hobgoblin rushing Halia on her left, he let a arrow loose for the creatures eye, killing him instantly. Letting loose anouther arrow on a guard that had been prepairing to pour oil down into the pit he smiled. A idea had formed in his head but for it to work he would need some help. Slinging his bow over his back, he drew his sword and rushed down into the fray, fighting his way to Perrin. It looked like he would be the only one able to actually lift and throw the oil at the hobgoblins. If he could do that, Tanthalas easlie could even some of these odd's with a lit arrow. That would buy plenty of time to have the rest get to thier companion. A sword came rushing down at him, slashing through the air where his head had been moments ago. Shoving forward with his sword, from where he had crouched to have the blade miss him, it went in to the hilt in a hobgoblins gut. "Thats for my parents," he wisperes as he draws his sword out and begains once more to look for Perrin......

Perrin

Seeing Tanis let fly with the arrow, Perrin rushed into the fray. His anger at his friend being held captive turned him into a killing machine. With these vile creatures barely coming up over his waist, great swings of his axe killed two or three at a time. He felt small cuts on his legs and thighs but shrugged them off in his quest to get to the Pit. He has almost reached the edge of the pit when 5 of the largest Hobgoblins step in front of him. These must be the bodyguards of the shaman. Perrin salutes them with his axe and attacks the closest hobgoblin.
