I would just like to say you are far from insensitive or a lout. We disagree about a great number of things, and there have been times where the disuccion has become quite heated. I have never felt you were anything close to insensite or loutish.

Rants are the foundation of a lot of humor. Dennis Miller, Dennis Leary, Lenny Bruce, John Cleese (in Fawlty Towers, his rant about the Germans is an over-the-top classic!) Sorry if they're not your cup of tea, but they are a pretty standard comedic idiom.

Oh, and this is not directed at anyone here, but if I had read the article outside the forum, I would have thought that people who would take personal offense to it should get an enema.

Hopefully last post on this. I truly admire and appreciate the men you list because they are all intelligent, witty and humourous, unlike the writer of the article. (In his prime even Bruce's anger did not overwhelm his material and method.)

I took no personal offense at the article, not even on others' behalf, I only stated an opinion from a literary and well experienced view.
