Gardening: Plants, Flowers, Veggies, Trees and All Things Green

Oh yeah!

I’m counting backwards from our 4H fair for planting my giant pumpkins. 120 days from August 18th is late April. A bit too early to plant outside in Jersey, but we start everything inside under grow lights.
Nice!

All of my peppers have come up except for the dang habaneros. The Apocalypse Scorpion and Bhut Jolokia are up and thriving, but no Habs... hrm.

These are my wild petunias which I originally sowed in a milk carton. I got excited when they sprouted and then proceeded to drown them. I migrated them to this oversized juice bottle this morning and I’m just hoping their roots survived the flood and transfer.

Fingers crossed for you and your transplanted petunias! Let us know how it turns out!

Last year was an amazing year for me with starting plants, their growth rates, and then the actual growing season. I'm having trouble not getting discouraged with the slow growth of my babies this year. They are growing and this isn't a race (is what I keep telling myself), but it's a little hard not to hurumph about it. Anyone else feel like?
