So, finally watched Terminator: Dark Fate. Bitter sweet, but better than Genysis.

Let's just stop there eh? No need to rehash it now.

If you're talking pointless rehashes, Avatar.

No

Stop!
Just fucking don't! The first one was good for one reason only. It looked stunning in 3D at the cinema. The story was shit, the writing was fucking awful (planet Pandora? Does that mean something bad will happen there? And Unobtanium? Unobtanium ffs?)

But the second one was just total garbage without the visual splendor to redeem it. And they're making another 5?

Just fuck off

Got to agree with you. The underwater effects look stunning but yeah. Who cares? The first was basically Pocahontas with blue people. The second one had no original ideas. Let's reincarnate people for no reason thereby ruining any closure the first may have had.

I liked Genius. My only real complaint was that the trailers spoilt the plot twist so you knew what was going to happen.

Either way both were far superior to Terminator 3....

This is why I usually only see the first in a series and never finish it out. Awful, I know, but like Avatar… why ruin a perfectly acceptable ending with a new movie?
🤷🏻‍♀️ HP and the avengers and the individual superheros- like captain America, the black panther, Thor, were the only ones I watched. But even that stuff has gotten dumb.

And what’s with live action movies in place of the Disney cartoons? I mean they’re doing the Aristocats as a live action. The soundtrack will probably be amazing, but wtf.

Wait a minute, I only saw Tangled was being done in live action. I missed the Aristocrats one. All I am picturing is whatever you call the last lion king that was done.

Life action is film heresy.

Oh I liked Maleficent because it was a different spin on a classic story. I don't really know why they're bothering with the others if they're not gonna try anything new

Fucking hell, preach sister!

It's like you're reading a script out from my head...

That’s different because it wasn’t sleeping beauty. It was the story of Maleficent. I think that’s totally acceptable. But retelling the same stories.. weird

I think it's just lazy film making. It's like all the remakes of live action films...

You have a story you know is popular, so you don't have as much development to do, and the risk is less. It's film making by numbers, which leads to dull films from dull people.

Stories like Maleficent are great because they add to the story, not just rehash it

This.

Nice topic. And I agree with everyone about the live remakes. Just Why? (Easier money of course) Maleficent was ok and I like the live action 101 Dalmations almost as much as the animated one. But I don't think they would do it as well now as 20 years ago.

Same with sequels, I watched the first 2 Irom Man films and Thor but haven't seen anything Marvel since. I'm a sucker for Indiana Jones and have watched and enjoyed all 5 films, you just have to recognize that the time periods change.

I don't watch TV or very many new movies.
But I do play PC games. Currently playing a lot of 7days and trying to convince myself to wrap up RDR2, then I plan to restart Skyrim...or just restart RDR2 lol.... My guilty pleasure game is probably the Farming Simulator. I buy the new one every couple years and download hundreds of mods...A great way to relax and chill.

Is the 5th one any good? I hated the 4th with a passion
in that case, I doubt you'll like it.

It's my least favorite but considering the material, I thought it was OK. I don't hate 4, but it's definitely weaker than the first 3.

Obviously the 5th is different, Indy is old but they play off that pretty well. The do very little to explain the gap between the films or how the different returning characters came to be where they are. It felt clunky.
