Is this because without a firm grip, the shooter takes up too much of the blowback energy in, essentially, his hand/arm, thus giving the action less resistance to cycle against?

yup...even my HK will biff out when limp wristed.

Edit: I was thinking....you can get stiffer springs to keep it from fucking up, but you are better off getting a weapon you can control.

I don't have any problem with my PPK. I was just making sure I understood the physics.

Actually you would want lighter springs, wouldn't you? The less resistance to the slide going back the better...if you weren't using a manly grip.

Yea I never have a problem, but my sister had a hard time keeping a full frame double stack .45 under control without grip tape, so the HK slid around just enough for it to stove pipe a couple rounds in when she would try and fire at combat speed.

Some choice world industries grip tape placed up the sides/back and all issues stopped.

So sometimes it's a simple matter of being able to get and maintain a proper grip.

Every pistol I have been able to induce/see a malfunction from limp wristing you have to let it flop around a good bit in order to get them to biff out so I don't think it should really be much of an issue for you.

Yea you are right, I had it backwards...sorry i was shopping for parts and was looking at a spring kit's and it got flipped around in my head.

Buy American and polish the feed ramp and don't use Hornady critical defense loads.

Yea it's like most problems...start with the simplest/most obvious fixes b/c 9 times out of 10 that is where you will find your problem.

Buy American and polish the feed ramp and don't use Hornady critical defense loads.

XD is the only American Pistol I would trust as a go to/Z day weapon for under 2 grand...and you don't need to polish anything.

As for a high cap, durable, reliable and accurate as hell no holds bar combat pistol?

Never polished feed ramps, the thought of the barrel finish not being even all over freaks me out...but I'm a huge fan of trigger jobs. If it doesn't pull like buttah I'm back after it with Q tips and flitz.

Yea but then what would I do while watching SG1/TNG re runs



but that seriously is why I do it....idk polishing/cleaning weapons and engine parts calms me, it's almost therapeutic for me to make it all perfect.

The only reason the Glock stays/is so filthy and 100% stock is due to the ongoing "How much shit can this thing take?" experiment. I'll just keep cranking nugget's through it until it fails and post a good report once it does....might be a while though.

By virtue of the fact that I only own one handgun, it wins go-to by default, but it's really just a toy. I bought it because a friend said he wanted to sell it and I grew up reading James Bond...

But I have to say it's really sweet. I like the feel of it, the redundant safety/decocker, the action, the simplicity.

I wondered about that. The lip betwixt ramp and chamber is minute, but it exists, and a round that grabbed it on the way up would flip the way they sometimes do on me. I suppose if I were psychotic, I could file those edges like some sociopathic dude in a cabin in the beginning of a movie.
