Hey, gun nuts!

I wondered about that. The lip betwixt ramp and chamber is minute, but it exists, and a round that grabbed it on the way up would flip the way they sometimes do on me. I suppose if I were psychotic, I could file those edges like some sociopathic dude in a cabin in the beginning of a movie.

Never file on the ramp, if polish doesn't fix it, send it back to the company. Most all of them will fix it free.

No, I meant file the sharp edges on the rounds.

Semi-auto handguns were originally designed to work with FMJ's, that's all I use and never have any problems. You might try filing the rounds, or just switch brands, some work some don't.

Yup, I figured in a gun designed before WWII that was probably the case. I just need to watch my backstops. Tweak the technique, make sure shit is clean, tweak the ammo, then worry, I figure.

.380. PPK/S if that matters at all.

I've never heard of the 380s having feed issues. What are you running through it? They can't handle hollow points well at all. It's just a limitation of the design. The newer ones might have a slightly different feed ramp, but I know for sure the older ones have trouble with anything but ball.

Yup...hollowpoints. But my technique may need a little effort as well. It's not an "all the time" problem, but intermittent. I wondered if it liked to be really clean, but now I want to go run a few hundred rounds of ball through it and see.

By virtue of the fact that I only own one handgun, it wins go-to by default, but it's really just a toy. I bought it because a friend said he wanted to sell it and I grew up reading James Bond...

But I have to say it's really sweet. I like the feel of it, the redundant safety/decocker, the action, the simplicity.

Exactly my thought. I'll try everything I got before I take it to a surgeon.

OH yea my roomie has a lil .380 PPK and it's a slick lil pistol, older/temperamental design but good guns when you feed them the right ammo etc.

You have good taste, and I agree 100%.

:) why thank you.

Lugers/1911's are finniky about getting their FMJ as well, never had a problem cycling hollow point's in the newer designs though. Each gun has it's own personality I say.....

The hollowpoints are your problem. I'd almost guarantee it.

I doubt it's your technique.

The PPK is designed (like most pistols from that time) to only take ball, because that's all that was commonly being used at the time.

Plus the .380 has a short casing, which I'm sure is compounding the problem.

Hornady makes some HP loads with a plastic insert that might feed ok, but I'd run a couple hundred through it just to make sure you don't get a mis-feed if you were thinking about carrying it.

It's good to know I have to rely on cheaper ammo and am not allowed to trust Hydra-Shok rounds...my wallet appreciates that.

So....a couple buddies and I decided to play hookie and go peel a few caps after lunch.

G21 .45ACP, Tungsten guide rod 20lb spring, cnc aluminum trigger assy, titanium striker assy. and 3.5lb trigger pull bar with a glockworx competition spring kit. All moving surfaces of the trigger assy hand polished.

15m, 27 rounds 1 mag change 14.8 seconds, got a little squirrely on a few and need to slow it down juuuuust a tad after the mag change (first mag made the big hole, second was all over and i think it's b/c my grip shifted and couldn't get back in the hole) but this was my best group/time of ze day.

Are those like, polish you'd use on chrome car parts?

Yea...they will have a whole list of metals it will polish, but it's just a good quality general metal polishing compound. Use sparingly, the shit get's everywhere.

Was the target lying down?

I forgot to ask, polish with what liquid/solvent? Just regular oil?

Paste.

All that tungsten weighed you down.

Nope...up on a bit of cardboard. I didn't have a camera on the firing line so I brought it back to the house.

Thanks. Great. Now Lady P will wonder what's next.

Only after he KEELED EET!

LOL valve covers, brake calipers, appliances, fixtures, more gun stuffs....I don't use the stuff often but it's handy when you need it.

Paste.

lol yea but I was going for center mass, esp from 15m@combat speed....and with both eyes open my sight pic shifts a little and winds up slightly left *shrug* . I'm working on it :D

I do wan't/need to start working on transitions between chest/head shots at that range/speed though..... and just get my general rate of fire faster. Oh how I wish I had all the time/ammo to practice.

That rod is the shiz btw....must have upgrade for any glock.

I can't stand glocks or XDs. Too clunky for me. I just can't hold either comfortably. I'm saving for a smith and wesson m&p. The new semi auto ones. Probably in 40 s&w. Nice and sleek and oh so comfy.

So I went and shot this morning, my bronado got a new piece and have been wanting to go bust a few caps with him.

I'm sold....sold sold sold......the Sig 1911 TAC just became my all time favorite ready to shit can every other pistol I have and buy 2 of these and call it a day

Fuck the Kimber....glock is nice for the high cap mags and durability but after seeing the shit the sig went through and worked just fine I'm not worried. It isn't even choosy about it's ammo we shot 500 rounds of shitty JHP and not 1 issue. He has used Winchester T's, Federal shocks, Golden saber, Gold Dot, Ball surplus etc and said not 1 FTF/FTE and after watching him throw sand/dirt in the action knocking the chunks off and dump 3 mags flawlessly.....I believe it.

Actually I'm mulling over a compact Colt 9mm and a Beretta 9mm.
