Hey, gun nuts!

I'd like to see video of her going bang.

Id like to make her go bang! My uncle has some mad gunsmithing skills when it comes to the older stuff so hes working on it still. Fuckin nipple just wont come free. I have 10 pounds of lead in my basement waiting for when molds and melters stop being on back order. 100 69 cal balls were more then what i wanted to spend

First time shooting trap with the 870 last night. 11/25 then 17/25. Took me a while to sort out the site picture and settle down. I think I was flinching a bit in the beginning, but the second round felt good. Everybody shot for shit yesterday, too, bunch of guys bitching about the wind and light and stuff. My excuse is that I pointed the gun in the wrong direction eight times...

Congrats on the 870, I think you'll find that it will serve you well.

Beware of Trap, it's an addiction. I shot regularly and then the ex wanted to take it up as well. I got her a 20ga. and soon enough we were going through 150 rds/wk. I was already a reloader so not a particularly big deal. But I can imagine that it can be quite pricey these days if you're buying new off the shelf every week Something you may want to start considering.

Everything's scarce these days. Hope you get that nipple sorted out soon.

Thanks!

I love it so far. It's made a lot of holes in targets, and trap seems to be a new hobby, if not quite an obsession yet. I like how easy it is to customize...five minutes with a screwdriver and an Allen key and it's a Feinstein nightmare "assault weapon." Folding stock and an 18" barrel with a vertical forend...

My next door neighbor reloads, and is the guy who invited me to shoot trap, so if it starts getting too expensive I'll lean on him.

Shoot them in the head, no problem.
LOL. Such a simple solution...

Indeed. Economical. My buddy who runs the survival school says he's put more meat on his table with a .22 lr than all his other guns combined.

Well, I believe my .338WM has put more meat on the table than my .22LR. One shot with the .338 can fill the freezer for the winter.

No moose in AR, that I know of. I think he mostly hunts little things.

I've shot three squirrels in the last week, but I will not eat them.

Worms and buzzards got to eat too...

;) ;)

You're in AR now? What part?

Ishmael

No, my friend runs a survival school there. I was going to go down this month to swap a week of my teaching for a couple weeks of his teaching, but the course I was to teach didn't fill, so I'm still home, which is still VT. His school is in Huntington, near the OK border somewhere.

Please discuss the potential of air rifles for taking small game.

My Feinwerkbau launches the .177 pellet into the same hole at 10 meters every time.

It's subsonic, so it's fairly quiet.

It's fine to have near the door, but too heavy to lug through the woods.

It's perfect for taking spruce grouse on the driveway.

I wondered. Atmas recently bought a break barrel rail gun of a .177. I think he said it'll shoot 1200fps. I figured that had to be plenty for such stuff.

A Daisy Red Ryder (tm) BB gun was adequate for chipmunks out to about 20 yards, but it required an extraordinary shot or extremely close range to even injure a squirrel. :p

I suppose that it would depend on the particular make and model of air-gun and the operating pressure for those with the capability to vary pressure. Lewis and Clark carried an air-gun on the expedition that was capable of taking anything up to a small deer or antelope.

Wow, I'd forgotten this until I read your question. My dad had an air rifle (pellet gun) that he would pump up four or five times and he could knock a grackle out of a tree from our pack porch. He hated those birds. Big, noisy, interlopers that pooped way more than they had a right too and were always chasing away the songbirds.

I never saw him do it, but if it could take down a big bird like a grackle (and they'd be dead when they hit the ground) I imagine he could have done the same to a squirrel or even a rabbit. I sure wouldn't have wanted to be at the receiving end of one.

M&P, made in the USA.

Too late. Bought an XDS today. Put around fifty rounds through it, right out of the box. Shoots like a dream, manageable recoil for a .45, easy sight picture, though I seem to aim low a lot. It's funny handling those huge rounds after getting used to the PPK/S in .380. They look like fucking hand grenades.

Sweet man XD's are tank ass carry pistols.

Don't ever shoot a nice ass 1911 though....it will ruin all other pistols for you. ;)

Does the XDS have a match grade barrel like the XDM?

If you're shooting low, try a heavier bullet next time and see if it comes up to point of aim. Of course, with a new gun and a large round, you may have been pushing it down a bit, too.
