How do other AHers perceive us?

Sure, why not? It's not like anyone is going to say something to make be more neurotic.
When I was newish here I associated you with @MillieDynamite and @onehitwanda and @EmilyMiller. I suppose you had all gotten into some of those thread hi-jacks. I made it a point to try to identify what made you alike. Since then, though, you've all sort of dispersed into individuals.

I know you're from Maine, and I'm from there in the summers, and you once posted a long message about empathy that I found memorable.

I think of you as prolific in the forum and articulate.

Is it just me hoping that some of the self appointed gate keepers show up on this thread?
(evil laugh)
I wonder if they're all just offline today? šŸ˜†

I'm in.
I haven't been here long, but I've dished it out to a few, so it's only fair.
I haven't really formed a strong opinion yet. You and cws...... arrived on the scene at about the same time and I had the two of you blurred for a week or two. And then he went to the eggs and you didn't.

Can't say as I've noticed you yet, but I'll keep my eyes open.
Same for me, I don't know many others well enough to comment. I've had a few strong opinions that ruffled feathers, so I thought I'd just play along, to give any recipients of those comments a chance to say what they'd like, without argument from me.

I assume you're saying you're in.

You are a bit stand offish from the rest of community. You have a good sense of humor, but don't show it at the drop of a hat as some of us do.

You feel close ties to your old home (Maine) and I think they are building for your new home as well.

You are a VERY good writer (I think the best story teller on the site). You have no false modesty about your writing and take offense when people don't understand. You have found your calling in life and are working hard to help others, which I'm even more impressed by than your writing.
Hah, Stacnash has a twin brother!

Thanks. I think that is fair and kind and not even a little bit Stacnashy.

That's a pretty good club to be in. Thanks.

@SimonDoom my brain sort-of categorizes you in the "old heads with strong opinions," bucket of AH, and I often disagree with you...

But I find myself enjoying disagreeing with you, because I generally find your opinions well articulated and thoughtful, and you're usually willing to engage in an actual dialog instead of just a clout fight 🄰

@SimonDoom You were one of my early heroes here, a big part of why I started spending time here.

Like Penny, I have since found I sometimes disagree with you, sometimes vehemently, as I'm sure you are aware.

But I have never lost my respect for you.

Thank you for that!

I also enjoy seeing Simon in threads, though our work is very different, the kinds of reader feedback we value are very different and often our perspectives on things are different too.

Appreciated. Thanks.

I think it's valuable to have different perspectives. I appreciate it when others disagree with me and don't take it personally or get personal in their responses.

And the respect is mutual. Same with Penny.
