I am Music

This is a long-distance dedication to a certain someone.

Well, actually, to a couple certain someones. I know that's confusing. Life often is. But, hey, part of why it's fun, anyway.

Right?

Whatever. Rare Byrds cut. I own all of their albums and I don't think I've ever heard it before. So, dahlinks, here.

Anyway, back to the Countdown.

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
Ill never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...strangers hand
In a...desperate land

Lost in a roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

Theres danger on the edge of town
Ride the kings highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...hes old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and well do the rest

The blue bus is callin us
The blue bus is callin us
Driver, where you taken us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother...i want to...fuck you

Cmon baby, take a chance with us
Cmon baby, take a chance with us
Cmon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin a blue rock
On a blue bus
Doin a blue rock
Cmon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But youll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

jim morrison a prophetic piece?

This song is forever associated in my mind with the Vietnam War. Like this one. There's a whole bunch of songs that always bring that time back for me. Here's another one. When I was 14, I went to this huge "Be-In" in Sheep Meadow in Central Park. Jefferson Airplane played (the bands at the Filmore East on weekends usually did free concerts in the park on Sunday), and when they did that song, everyone went wild. It was a joint-sharin, hippie-dancin for-real Be-In. One of the best times of my life, actually. :)

Old School Hip Hop

I am in a sooooooo-blue funk today. It feels hellish. And I'm not havin' it. So, physician, heal thyself. Can't stay bummed out listening to this....even if it's only a band-aid.

Damn, I miss these boys!

and these

guys too… this bass line is sick!

That's some good stuff. The first two have both popped up on shuffle in my itunes in the past two days.

Hope you're hitting the up beat now, sweetie.

You must be psychic or something = always the right song.

I wasn't having the world's best day myself. Sitting here crying like a little bitch, bumming out my kids. Fucking shame on me!

I clicked on the first song and my two darlings listened for a bit then started to sing 'jump around' and hop all over the place, like the couple of loveable curtain apes that they are.

Brought a smile to my face and make me realize that they were the reason I put up with all of this shit. It'll be OK now. You gave the brats the tool they needed to start making it better.

Thanks for helping me and the 'devil's spawn' have a better day.

So...there's only and absolutely ONE cure for the sooooooo-blue funk. My prescription...

Listen thrice, maybe fource, and then sleep, my child.

Don't worry baby.

I was the devil's spawn too. Specifically, by my mother's calculations, the granddaughter of the antichrist, or something. On my father's side, of course.

I turned out okay. Well, alright, that could be argued by some, but many would agree that I turned out okay.

i am psychic.....i knew you'd have at least two out of three.

I have the third too, but it's on tape, so I don't have it in itunes. Yet.

I've been slowly scrounging up the mp3's to go along with the tape sin my collection. It is a labour of love.

apropos of nothing, in the event you don't have one, I can recommend a really good, easy-to-use free audio program to import tapes into computers in MP3 format.

You guys mean like that sticky stuff that comes on a roll? Won't that mess up your DVD drive (or even your CD drive, if your puter is prehistoric)?

God, no wonder you guys have puter problems all the time! Sheezh!

It would make me feel SO incredibly old to hook a tape player to my computer. The last time I did that was... oh, geeze, far too long ago.

Shit! I am so flipping nervous today! We are going this morning to get all the paperwork done - I'm going to have Amy's last name when we're done! Oh, shit, Oh God, Oh damn. The actual wedding is just frosting - this is the flipping REAL part. This is the REAL, scary, can't EVER GO BACK part! shit, shit, shit. *Full PANIC Mode - Activated*

I've been playing Mary Black on full loop all morning - this is my favorite for today!

I'm with you, except if that's the only place certain music resides. I had lots of cassettes of stuff I recorded long before there was computers, and the best way to archive it was to simply to take the cassettes and make MP3's.

I produced The Larry King Show on the radio for eight years, and had every show on archive tape. Tape degrades over years, so the only way to render that stuff immortal was to convert to MP3 with a tape recorder and my computer. Time consuming, but cheap. I couldn't afford to convert the stuff to CD when that was the only other option. Now I have all my Larry King Show tapes in MP3 format, then transcribed to DVD's. That way, I could get almost a year of radio shows on two DVD's. For example, somewhere in my archives is the last ever recorded interview with Jackie Gleason. And some other people who are now dead, like SF mayor George Moscone, interviewed about three weeks before he was assassinated in 1978. Oddball stuff. I have an interview of Arnold Schwartzenegger and Maria Shriver talking while eating ice cream cones;

tape to computer is the only way--unless I want to pay an arm and a leg to have someone do it for me, which I don't.
