Honestly thought that MeekMe was banned from Star Trek: TNG events for some reason.

I will age out of our TNG group this coming summer, and it's become a running joke between me and one of the group leaders. Our group does allow older people to attend if they are the partner of someone who is still age-appropriate. So she always tells me, "You'll just have to get a young slam piece who will bring you to events so you can get in." I wish the phrase "young slam piece" was more common in the everyday parlance, but in all honesty I think even if I have one I still will stop going to TNG events when I age out. I just think there's value in young people having their own space for stuff like that. I'm lucky enough to live in an area where we have lots of opportunities for people of all ages, so no one here is hurting for munches, classes, sloshes, play parties, etc. to attend. regardless of their age or any demographic.

I don't attend any events so this doesn't directly effect me. I do see all the rants of older men complaining that they're being discriminated against. When asked why they feel they need to be allowed to go they usually have very little to say other than "Us old people have things to teach them!" Of course people younger than 35 can handle getting and sharing the info they need and that just sounds like a flimsy excuse. This time the particular rant came from a guy that got extra creepy with his comments about how he's a sexual being and of course he likes staring at women's asses! He's just a man after all. :rolleyes: Anyway, it was a childish temper tantrum that shows maturity really doesn't come with age.

As for my housing dilemma. I have no desire to live in an age restricted community beyond that the houses are new construction and half the price of smaller older homes in need of roof repairs. The search looks so depressing. Am I throwing a tantrum? No. Do I feel sore about it? Yes. Will I continue looking for my affordable dream home? Certainly.

Con, when I first came across TNG events I couldn't help but imagine a munch full of Trekkies. It's just a group for people 18-35 (the next generation).

Muchas gracias everyone! We're in a difficult limbo until all of the numbers settle. I feel like we are in a human-variant of a Magic Square puzzle. Not comfortable!!!! There are so many "silly signs" pointing our way, though, that it's hard to be skeptical.
