John Almighty

100 Threads Surpassed!

I passed my 100 thread mark. Although not all have been that popular, more than one hundred threads by me are up.

Next anniversary: It's over 9000!!... This is gonna take a while...

...at least if I don't decide to make like $ajin... Nah, I have too much self respect.

Congratulations on the landmark. I should be able to get back into the writing lark now that my hours at work have returned to something a bit more normal.

Added a thread. It's a bit of *GASP!* character development and there's no bedroom gymnastics. Hopefully it's not too shit.

Finally got around to making a post tonight, sort of an alternative route for Evan and his friends.

As always, I have ideas in the pipeline. The problem is a combination of very small pipes, easy distractability, and a busy real life. I also like to add to other people's stories too, as the ideas come.

This is why I am not a pro writer ;P. I am always trying to come up with stuff, though. Please bear with me.

In light of the current problems with deltionism, I am backing up John Almighty to the BEA. I'm only copying my own threads, so anyone else who wants to have their stuff copied over should do it or let me know to do it for them (The BEA allows you to set the Author tag however you want, and you don't need to sign up or anything). I'll be double posting both here and there until CHYOO gets fixed or replaced. This is the best solution I have come up with to the problem of stories suddenly vanishing. Not the best, but the best I can come up with.

Still looking for some help with fixing or replacing the current site.

Speaking of, new updates in both locations. Also updated several threads. Can I get some contributions for inspiration?

And a small challenge for you guys. See the comments on my latest thread.

Can I please get some ratings or feedback at least? Are people even interested?

For those wondering

I am currently working on a new story! Originally, it was going to be a thread for John Almighty, but it just kinda grew until I decided to stop trying to shoe horn it in and just broke it off on its own. It's taking a lot of time to bang into a form I am happy with, but it's now in for approval later. Unless something just comes to me, there probably won't be much for John Almighty till I work this idea out (you know how it can get when you're riding a train of thought), but rest assured, I have more threads in the pipeline. It's just that as the story gets further along, it takes me more time to write. I'm embarrassed to say I am an idea person, not an execution person, something I am trying to work on through my writing.

In the meantime, please keep contributing to John Almighty, and please check out my new story as it arrives (Submitted title: 'F Force', but that may change). My goal is to match Absolute Power someday, in one story or the other.

And F Field Just got approved. Check it out. I've got the opening followups mostly written, expect them soon. Things will be sporadic for the next 3 weeks. I have reports and programs due at work, and I'm having to take extra time to finish them, which is burning me out. I'm always around for approving threads, though.

Also, anybody have a better idea for a title? I think mine sounds awkward, but if you don't think so, let me know.

A quick new addition to John Almighty. This actually isn't one of the stories jammed in my buffer; one of my friends sent me this video, and I couldn't believe I hadn't thought to do this before. I don't have an immediate followup planned for this, so please give me a hand guys.

You mean that reality altering remote thread? Dude that would have been good enough to start a whole new story. As it is it just seems totally random and at odds to everything else in the story.

I've been slowly adding onto the "Its The Thought That Counts" thread. In case anyone hasn't caught on, the basic idea here is that Thomas Kennedy has been granted aspects of the power due to John's head injury, but Tom doesn't have any actual control over it.

Rather than being a virtual god, its Tom's subconscience that is in charge. So while he can't make direct changes to reality, his fantasies are all coming true. So forget about making that girl you like a sex slave, but if you happened to daydream about it on a regular basis so that it becomes part of your subconscience, it might just become true.

I'm having a lot of fun with the story so far, even though the entries have been far and inbetween. I welcome anyone else to join in.

Thanks,
McMartin

Better example --- in my find the "Its The Thought That Counts" thread is similar to a lucid dream. The dreamer is in control and the center of attention, but yet he is not fully in charge of what is happening around him. This can lead to a lot of fun, but also lead to a lot of frustration since you can't make direct changes to events. You sort of just have to go with the flow of what the dream has in store for you and enjoy.

Hope to see others join!

Where I've Been

For those wondering where I have been, I've been working on a full-lengther over at stories online. I have the same name over there, so go check me out.

I'm thinking of breaking it up a bit and posting it here in addable chucks, but that will require some rewriting to avoid getting in trouble with CHYOO policies, especially in the parts I'm still working on (The plan is for that to be at least 7 parts, though it may get longer or bleed into another story). If you want an example of what I mean, check out John Almighty on the BEA or my threads on Fiction Branches and compare the versions.

Murakami -

I had never heard of "Fiction Branches" until your message. I've been checking it out for the last few hours, but find its format much less inviting than CHYOO or BEA. Also, almost every thread I start reading ends up with the main character turning himself into a girl. I'm just not into transgender stories. Can you perhaps give me some suggestions as to links for good threads on "Fiction Branches" that I might enjoy?

Thanks,
Martin
