Literotica Forum Update: Share Your Feedback, Issues & Requests

You could always access these boards without being a member or logging in. This is nothing new. Only commenting required logging in.

Regarding underage viewing, they can also read stories. The porn video sites are the same. Age verification is a real issue, because how do you do it? Some sites ask: "Are you 18?" Obviously anyone can answer yes.

I don't know all the details, but I understand the UK will be requiring actual proof of age to access sites. How they will do that and what will happen with the sites not based there (which is most of them) is a good question.

You did not have to be a member before to read the threads here. It has always been this easy to read everything here. I think you did have to be a member to see attachments hosted at the site, but I’m not sure about that. Those may have been visible too.

You could always read Lit without being logged in.
That may be true.. but there were never any SHARE buttons that encouraged people and make it easy to share shit on other platforms. Give me a break.

That may be true, but there were always people who screenshot every single photo they came across. There are guys who brag about their folders of “right clicked” photos. It is no riskier here than it was before in that sense, and it has always been risky. I do think there is elevated risk of accidentally outing oneself by posting to social media, but I would imagine you would actually need to log in to your social media for that to happen (not something I plan to do).

Earlier in this thread, this topic has been discussed. Manu commented that they are looking into limiting the sharing to Reddit and Twitter based on user preferences and those are the social media forums that are most active with Literotica members posting and interacting with the Lit pages.

Then what Manu should do if possible is to make each Litster have control over their own posts and whether or not they want it shared or not. We can control who sees our profiles, so why not give us control over our posts in regards to sharing. If there are those Litsters that don't mind their posts being shared on twitter or reddit, then they can set their profile to allow sharing. For those of us who don't want anything we post on here shared anywhere else, than there should be a way to turn sharing off in our profile. That would be the smart thing to do. Like I said before, anyone can copy and paste or save shit on their computer. We can't do anything about that.. but having share buttons on pics and/or posts just makes it easier for them to do it. Why make it easy for those who like to do that shit?

its a change - so will take some getting used to.

it could be worse.

it looks too much like facebuck (sic)

can 'likes' be exchanged for cash prizes ?

can we not unsubscribe a thread now?
Yes, it's called, "Unwatch" There's a unwatch button on the top of the thread page. If you want to subscribe, you hit the watch button. If you want to unsubscribe, you hit the unwatch button. :)

Well I can see Dustibear checking out 'How Big does a Dick need to be?' in LGBT and Mysticocksuck is viewing Leviathan's profile. Meanwhile Himmlerboyz is writing a new thread in Politics asking for Texans to rally this weekend and bring those nooses.
Come on Lit... you can't have that level of intrusion
Otherwise I like it. Oh, and opt-out for seeing every posted photo option, please

How do you make your name not appear on the list of users online bc I had the option checked off on my profile but it still shows? 🤔

Take out the check. Leave it blank. Checking it puts it in the "appear" category.

I think this is going to be a hard one for people to understand. If the box is unchecked in your profile to appear visible. You aren't visible. You will still have the green light visible to you though. So you appear visible to yourself. LIke now. Diosax. You do not appear visible to me.

So am I visible or invisible now?

You can control that from your account settings. Go to privacy->Allow users to: View your details on your profile page:
You have 4 options:
1. All visitors
2. Members only
3. People you follow
4. Nobody

Same thing goes for: Receive your news feed & View your identities. Although, I'm not quite sure what View your "identities" is for.
But doesn't doing this prevent people from seeing all of your profile? i.e. your description, location, etc.?
(Note: Orchidea was answering a question about followers/following being visible.)

Ok perfect thank you. Before the update it'd have an asterisk so I wasn't sure if I was appearing for everyone. Thank you for confirming:)

I think there's a separate option for seeing the full profile. Is that what you're asking?

Yes. Depending which option you choose of course. You can set it as "Members Only", if you want people who are members of the forums to see it, but nobody from outside will be able to do so.

Ok so I ran an experiment. I have everything set to “nobody” except for allowing conversations. I haven’t posted any pics and pulled all my old pics down. I have only posted unsexy things here, in this feedback thread, since the update. But I’m still getting random PMs from guys I’ve never spoken to before. One of whom is already creeping me out (thanks, bud!)

Why is that happening? How are they finding me? There must be an active user list I can’t opt out of.
Conversations are the old PM's. If people see your posts anywhere, they can send PM's. I think there is a setting in the profile about who can send conversations.
