Literotica Forum Update: Share Your Feedback, Issues & Requests

So it seems that while attached photo thumbnails are restricted to members only, embedded photos are visible to non logged in people and search engines.
To rectify this privacy breach, when will the function of viewing "My Content" be activated in the profiles? Presumably from there we can delete all past content and therefore sever the links. It has been pointed out that this function is available on other sites using this software.
Manually going into threads and deleting content only works for your own posts and not quoted replies.
Time is of the essence in being able to kill the content so I would appreciate fast activation. Alternatively remove the ability for embedded images hosted on Lit to be seen by non logged in viewers. It always was this way , only third party linked images were visible.

It is disappointing that privacy issues have been flouted in this upgrade.

By embedded photos, do you mean those posted as attachments?

If so, those aren’t visible if you aren’t logged in, I’ve tested it a couple of times

Same here. I’m on my phone only. Mine was off center when Lit came back and even when deleted kept coming back when I tried to load another. Like you, the new one showed up on my profile but has since reverted back to old one. So now I’m an S … ha. Lets hope it gets fixed soon.
You do have one. It looks like an angry young woman with a eighties haircut or maybe a hat of some sort. She's not unpretty, it just looks like she may be very angry.

Cleared my browser cache and now it shows...

Oh, yeah, I totally agree with this! And couple that with the fact that I can only see part of the message I’m composing on my phone screen, I have posted a couple embarrassingly odd messages because of text I mistakenly assumed had been deleted.

Ah!! I was missing the “insert quotes” step. This was super easy. Thanks!!
Or as I have found out, you can press the +Quote button for multi-quotes and then Reply on the last post you want to quote and it will post them all in the reply box at the bottom of the page.

You're welcome.

And holy moley there are now a shitload of smilies.

If you load up the photo so it's visible in full size in the body of the message, it's visible. The base code behind it is just a file address, so in theory that file location should not be accessible to a non login.

There are two different ways to embed images in a post. One can be viewed by people not logged in, you're right. The other can't, but I'm not sure what way that is now!

In the vbulletin software, there was a way to view all the attachments I had over time added to any of my posts. Is there a way to do that in this forum software?
^^^ >>> vvv
That's still an issue that hasn't been addressed. It's on the punch list above somewhere .... ability to see, delete and re-use previously uploaded attachments.

It's available because I have it on at least one other XF board I use, directly under 'Reactions ..."

Ok, I think I've figured it out!

In the photo below, I circled the two ways not to embed a photo.

Instead, click on attach files, find the photo you want, then just post. DO NOT click insert.

I can't be 100% certain, as I can’t go back and double check, but I believe that embedded photos have always been visible to everyone. We just didn't realize/think about it. I am going on what I remember from the old system. I wouldn't notice that the system had logged me out until I tried to do something that only members can do, such as open an attachment link in a post where the attached photo was not embedded, and was denied. I don’t remember an instance where I couldn’t see photos that were in the posts themselves.

Regardless of how it used to be, if there are any ways that this new software can rectify the issue then that should be a top priority.

It’s always been my understanding that all post content was visible to those not logged in save attachments in the old system, everyone could already see everything so this isn’t really much of a change in that department. I agree that there seems to be some that just never realized or thought about it before.

It's kind of like moving to a new house where you're poking and prodding around in all the nooks and crannies to see what's there and what isn't compared to your old place. Funny thing is, you can't really remember if the neighbors across the street could see in your basement windows because you just never thought about it.

I continue to be amazed by the number of people who think anything they post anywhere on the web is private to any degree.
I think that most of us who share photos here, whether of our bodies or faces, have no illusions about privacy on the internet. We know that there are no "100% safe" ways to share personal information. However, we are also aware that some actions are riskier than others. I think that most of the people in this thread who have expressed concerns about what content can be viewed by non-registered users, what functionality is available to non-registered users, or about the heightened presence of sharing options are trying to obtain information so that they can make informed assessments of risk and take any precautions that might help to decrease risk.

You have shared a lot of very helpful information here over the past few days. I know that I am not the only one who has noted and appreciated this.

The quotes are inserted in reverse order, I tried it now. Small issue, but I like replying to the posts in order.

I haven’t posted any strange messages yet, but I know it will happen. I wonder if I multi quote and move to a different thread, will I get the same warning as before the update? Now this could make for some odd messages.

Hey lovely. The process that you are describing results in a thumbnail of the attached photo(s) along the bottom of the post. In situations where you are attaching more than one photo, it can be slightly confusing. For example, Miss S will often include multiple photos in one post. In the body of the post, usually below each photo, she gives a description. With the thumbnails along the bottom of the post, she might decide to note them like footnotes in the text of the post. I would hope people could figure it out, but you never know. Just interrupts the flow a bit. So, any time someone is trying to integrate photos with text, the thumbnails aren't ideal. But I don't think it's a dealbreaker situation.

Hmmm... I haven't run into this issue yet. They've always been in the order in which I clicked on them. I like replying in order as well.

So I attached the picture in my post like that & it was in the body of the post. Yes, it showed up as a thumbnail at the bottom as I was writing, but after
I posted it was full size in the post.

It’s not ideal if you want to write captions, true. There doesn’t seem to be a “preview post” any more, which might have helped?

Okay, so I posted a pic in my thread as an attachment because people were saying that attachments can't be viewed unless you're logged in. Well after I logged out and went to my thread.. yes it is true, you have to be logged in to see the attachment... HOWEVER... the frigin thumbnail is still viewable to everyone! That kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

I'm really starting to lose my patients with this site.

When you were attaching the pic, did you click “Insert” or use the picture icon in the post tool bar?

Both of those will lead to embedding a picture thumbnail that can be seen when logged off. Just click Attach Files, choose the photo & then Post Reply. Then it shouldn’t be seen at all when not logged in.
