Literotica Forum Update: Share Your Feedback, Issues & Requests

@JerseyJade your AV was this morning, your face with glasses, very shadowy. This afternoon it is back to dick in face.
Yep, that's what it does.. goes from 1 to the other... then back to the 1 and then to the other.. rinse and repeat. We're only supposed to have one AV, so why is Lit accepting 2 or more AVs? And why are the AVs that you delete still on the server? There should only be ONE AV per account.. not fucking 3 of them! WTF!

Weird. That’s definitely the first time I’ve ever seen a change in yours at all.

I was in the process of taking screenshots to show how my ava as Les showed up differently depending upon which threads I was viewing ( which I thought coincided with whether I'd viewed the thread prior to uploading the new ava or not. If I'd viewed it, I got the old one. If I hadn't, I got the new one. )

However, upon trying to do this in my RR login, I took the screenshot of a post where my new ava showed up, then went back to one where a minute before my old ava was there, and it had changed to the new one. So, ID change again to Dark. Check the same thread, see the old ava. Move to the second thread where I'd taken the screenshot, new ava. Clicked back to the other thread, changed to the new ava.

But that only happens if I click from the profile where the most recent posts are shown. If I navigate to the threads from any other location, the old avatar is shown every time. My Les profile shows the new ava as the main image, but the listing of the 3 latest posts below still show the old ava next to them.

I then checked all three threads from profile so that I would see them with the new ava. After that, I navigated to each thread through the standard navigation, and saw the old ava on all of them. So there's something special about clicking from Profile that might be useful to look into.

However, when logged in as Les on desktop, absolutely the only place I see my new ava is the main image on my profile. All the images next to the posts are the old one. Clicking from this page still shows the old one on the posts. Navigating normally through the forum shows the old ava as well.

I found this behavior to be consistent in Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera on my desktop. It is also consistent in Chrome and Samsung internet browser on my tablet. ( The latter had never been used to log into Lit before. It had never been used before as a matter of fact LOL )

On my Samsung phone using Chrome, where I had never viewed any of the threads prior to attempting to change Les' avatar, I see the new ava on all threads no matter how I navigate to them. I see the new image at the top of my profile, while the listing of three threads below shows the old ava next to them. The same holds true for Firefox. ( Logged in or logged out ) This is also true even when logged in as Les on my phone through Firefox.

So, there may be something special about the small screen mobile view that might be worth looking into.

Thought I'd post this up as potentially useful debugging information.

Greetings.

As many other users have reported, for myself as well, the avatar issue still persists. Where it seemed to be resolved on one browser (Opera Mini) yesterday, it has now seeped unto this one too, as it was updated to the latest version.

I was already doing the screenshoting to better illustrate my own situation, as there seem to be variants of it experienced by other users.

This is what I get on my end (I hope the image size isn't too large):

As shown, the avatar display differs in the various sections. The avatar that should be currently displayed, as it was the last to be uploaded, is the one on the profile page (left side of image, above Latest Activity). All the other thumbnails in the replied to, created by me / watched threads are the old avatar, which was replaced two days ago.

Using Soul Browser v.1.3.01, running Android 11.

I hope it helps to better understand the present predicament many of us are experiencing.

Well, this is merely the browser cache having no reason to reload the image. If you load a new thread, the pictures are not in the cache so they are loaded from the server. If you view the old thread, the pictures are in the browser cache and the browser doesn't care about checking if they might have changed on the server.

Mostly relevant is, what your profile shows after you explicitly hit the Refresh button of the browser.

For the record:

If you delete the AV on the forum profile, this is not propagated to the lit profile.

The lit profile doesn't even have an option to just delete the AV (as far as I can tell).

Third, if you select Options on your lit profile control panel, you end up on "My profile", instead of "My options".
But if you select My profile on your lit profile control panel, you don't end up on "My profile", you actually end up on the biography page of the story section.

Dear Manu,

Although it does take a few days orientation, I'm mostly on board with the new format. Thank you, as I can appreciate it can't have been an easy transition to update Literotica.

It has some really nice features, although it's a little buggy in places.

When placing an over sized image, it's accepted once you hit Post Reply. Your new post displays within the thread as it should.

On return to said post(s), in the image's place is a referenced View Attachment link. When you click, you're routed to an Image Not Found page. That's not helpful, right? The resultant thread looks awful with those links posted throughout it as opposed to the images themselves.

A workaround is to scale down the oversized image before hitting Post Reply.

I hope you're able to address this and other bugs in question soon.

Kind regards,
Justplatonic

Using the Lit Modern style, the color variation between the background, the sticky thread foreground and the normal thread foreground in the forums I visit are so subtle that I had to change the color settings on my monitor to see them. The forums are more readable when you can see the color variations.

Firefox 97.0 (64-bit), Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
I had to turn on my dark mode addon "Dark Night Mode" extension.

The AV thing is just strange, I tried to change mine yesterday but it stayed in my profile until today when I tried a different AV. That didn't work and yesterday's attempt stayed in my profile. Now, hours later, the second attempt shows as my AV, but the AV I started with still shows as well.
And today I woke to the original AV, how interesting.

I noticed private messages where changed to the word “conversations”. How do you delete older conversations or older private messages. Are we still limited to 150 messages like before ?

I don’t know about the limit but to delete a conversation from your list, you need to “leave conversation”. I think it’s at the top of the conversation. I don’t know how to delete individual messages though.

But, if I immediately go back to the same thread by navigating from any location other than "latest posts", I get the old one.

And the reason I was seeing the old one initially is because this is how I navigated to it. I was using this thread as my original destination, where I see the old ava. From there I clicked on my Les profile, and I was navigating from there. That is when I would see the new ava attached to threads. It shouldn't have had a reason to reload the ava upon going back to the same thread. I then immediately navigated to the original thread ( easy to find in the Authors' Hangout, which is why I chose it as a starting point to begin with ) and saw the old one. It had no reason to reload the ava on the same page there either.

This isn't simply a browser cache issue.

There have been several people who are still running into av issues even after clearing their caches and trying on various browsers and devices. It’s not a cache issue (at least not just that).

Can someone go to my profile page and tell me which AV is being displayed? :) It should be the one of me wearing my glasses.

Okay, here we go. Starting position, a thread in the AH.

lit_les_ava_a.png Old ava visible. Click on Profile.

lit_les_ava_b.png New ava as the main image, old ava visible next to the threads below. Click on the first thread, which is the same destination as above.

lit_les_ava_c.png New ava visible. I copy/paste the link for this into notepad ( because I'm going to need to use the clipboard for screenshots ) From here, I click Main->Authors' Hangout-> and then back to the same thread from step #1

lit_les_ava_d.png Old ava once again showing on the post.

I then navigated to a random thread in the AH where I haven't posted as either Les or RR, just to have a neutral starting point. Then, I used the copy/paste URL collected earlier. I jumps to a specific post, so for completeness sake, I paste this into the address bar, and when the thread loads, it's showing the old Ava.

I then started the whole process all over again. Navigate to the thread in the AH. Old ava. Click on my Les profile, same as above. Click on the thread again. New ava as above. Immediately click on my profile from there, where I'm seeing the new ava. Profile again shows as above. Shift+Refresh. Profile still as above. Navigate to thread from here. New ava visible. Shift+Refresh shows the old ava once more.

It might be premature to say, but I think the avatar issue on my end might have been resolved.

I am no IT expert, but as others have said, it can't be a user-only side cache problem, as we all are using different operating systems and software. So I reckon it must be server-side. Over the course of the last couple of days, I have troubleshot in the ways I know (no IT whiz, I reiterate) — On Android: I cleaned cache, cleaned data, uninstalled and reinstalled applications.

As fortuitous it might be, a new browser version (Soul Browser) was released. Updating it and logging in, the images all display correctly now.

The Literotica Profile avatar (on the story-side) can be deleted, but it is kind of hidden. On mobile (at least for me), if you tap / click on the upper right side on the avatar display, it asks if you want to delete the picture.
