  1. Do nothing
  2. Send a confrontational PM
  3. Post right behind them on a thread
  4. Post a passive aggressive message in Dear X or Dear Litster

Life will always intervene - and I am often enough guilty of getting pulled away. I generally just give people their space. All relationships are voluntary so, if it fades, it fades. I'd just keep posting as normal. If I know them fairly well I might drop a PM just asking if everything was okay.

I realize I'm a couple of days late in answering, but I'm not flattered by that ^^^ level of persistence. Just fyi.

This is my general approach as well.

I stick a bunny in a pot of boiling water with a message tied to its wittle foot "I WILL NOT BE IGNORED!!!!!"

Seriously, I'll give it a one time "how's it going?" If I don't get a response, I figure it's their loss and just feel sorry for them. :)

I feel like I'm usually the one guilty of not responding. And my reasons are sometimes just that I meant to and then either forgot or got busy. Something lame and self centered like that. So, tie in to the last question, a little persistence works well on me.

My greatest friend here just keeps pming me everyday even though I sometimes don't respond and usually only talk about myself. He won me over.

You've been enjoying a nice exchange of PMs with someone and for whatever reason it just stops. Real life got in the way, shit happens.....etc. But then you notice them posting on the board and you send them a benign PM and get nothing back. What is your next course of action.

*no, this is not an autobiographical, asking for a friend" topic*

Having been away from here for a while, I was a little unsure about reopening all my old communications. Sure some people had moved on and were no longer here, but would the ones that were here still remember our chats after more than a year away from the boards? I posted after one in a thread and was sent a pm not long after asking how I was and letting me know it was nice to see me on the boards again - our friendship back to its easy casualness from before, which is nice to know.

I'm pretty certain I would leave it after a benign pm with no response. I'd still chat in the threads if we were posting in the same ones, but I'm not about to stalk/harass/call them out over it. Everyone's dealing with something and sometimes you just need a break.

So, you've got a hot steamy PM exchange going. It's "real time", not an extended role play. Your PM partner is fast at firing back messages, each more lust filled than the previous. The chat is moving along, things are starting to build. And it's clear that in the natural progression of the conversation an "orgasm" is enevitable and fast approaching. But are you, are you in the moment? Or are you out running errands and answering PMs on the go? What to do about that orgasm. Are orgasms sacred and you only type one out if you are having it? Do you finish the story and save it for the "spank bank" to withdraw later? Or do you just not type that online orgasm?

If you can't finish, should you have even started?

These things happen in pm's? That seems a little unorthodox.

So, essentially, what you are asking is "have you faked it?"

And the answer, of course, is "no, I would never do that"... ;)

It's clear that in the natural progression of the conversation an "orgasm" is inevitable and fast approaching.

  • No, I can write about an orgasm without actually having an orgasm; 'faking it' as it were. Writers do this all the time.
  • If this question means "am I doing anything else other than masturbating?", then yes, I usually will do that.
  • I can write with passion without getting physically aroused. It isn't that orgasms are "sacred," but to jerk off makes it easier to not date. You should feel anxious when you are around someone you want to date (and have sex with). My last real relationship with a girlfriend being about twenty years ago has fueled my belief in this concept.
  • No, see last answer.
  • For the sake of theatre, I can write about an orgasm without experiencing it. I've had one or two orgasms (sometimes even with someone else), well enough to know what the experience of an orgasm is like.
  • To engage in a cybersex with someone without actually cyberbating, does seem anticlimactic and does beg the question "should you have even started?" I have always had a distaste for women who fake orgasms during real sex, so this has colored my perception. However, do you think authors are emotionally invested when they write a sex scene in a movie or erotic book? Do you imagine they are jerking off as they write? Can an artist sculpt or draw without physically 'getting off' from his work? This seems to ask a question with the same intent as the OP's question. I can and do (write without getting physically erect). If I were to engage with someone in a cybersex, I would explain beforehand that it's my intent to not get physically aroused. You would think I physically bitch-slapped a woman when I say this, based on the reactions I've gotten.

I want to explain something. At my age or because of my life up to now, if I get aroused about two or three times without orgasm, I experience blue balls. This is the "you feel like you have been kicked between the legs VERY HARD leaving you in a fetal position, whimpering, wishing for death, for a day or two." Even if I was to jerk off at that point, the damage is already done, and I'm in for the long haul of pain.

My point is, I have a vested interest in NOT getting physically aroused (Thank you Numi for changing your profile pic!) from non-tactile stimuli. Regular pictures of naked women are kind of like art. Pictures of real people that I interact with daily; that arouse, well... let's not beat a dead horse.

Why not just jerk off then? See answer 3, above.

Well! It seems while I was writing and rewriting my novella of a reply, that everyone else was simply replying with one or two sentences and summing up what I said but succinctly.

BE that way.

edit: I hate using emoticons to get a point across, however, let it be known that I am putting my thumb to my nose and wiggling my fingers as I say this.

You're welcome...! After all, you did change yours when I didn't like the eye in the chin thing...

(Not a foot man, then? *laughs*)

Clearly I'm not my mother's son. That noteworthy thinks a bare foot is clearly you being completely naked! You must remember this, a foot is just a foot, a sole is just a sole, all the old cliches apply, as you run by.

I could continue with a bunch of bad puns about feeling defeeted, but I can see some of you already rolling your eyes, so, I'll just hoof it out of here.

If it is a "real time" exchange in classic call and response, then I am in the moment. If it's evolving over extended periods of time, then I drop in and out of the moment.

Orgasms are not sacred, though they are a lot of fun.

Depending on the PM exchange (and the timing) either I simply write the orgasm when it comes in the exchange (and the whole exchange may be savored later as shared erotic writing). If the exchange is real time, then the orgasm is real-time as well.

Do I fake it sometimes? Sure - there may be times when the timing is off, but has to be adjusted to fit into the narrative. LOL - and I have written/cybered exchanges where I honestly wrote about premature orgasm.

It's nice when a person can finish what they started, but sometimes in the competition for time between the real world and it's virtual extension, life just intervenes.

Busy day for me tomorrow so I'm going to pose my topic now and hope my Litiquette friends don't punish me too much for breaking from standard practices.

Interesting topic as it has happened recently to someone I thought was a very close friend.

I sent a couple PMs that were not responded to and now I walk away. It hurts, but for whatever reason the sun seems to have set on our friendship. I try now to take the high ground and not be bitter. People come into our lives for a reason and leave for a reason too...

I can manage a lengthy role play through email exchange but I don't real time cyber. I lack the ability to type out orgasms.

If I were to engage with someone in a cybersex, I would explain beforehand that it's my intent to not get physically aroused. You would think I physically bitch-slapped a woman when I say this, based on the reactions I've gotten.

Huh. Maybe it's the way you say it.

Busy day today so a quick hitter:

When the "best thing to ever happen to you" happens, do you realize it in the moment?

Not always. It could be so, I suppose, but more often you can trace back the 'best thing ever' to its starting point, I think, with the benefit of hindsight.

Other than the day my son was born, rarely ever. I may have the fluttering feeling something is going to be -- but that feeling isn't always true -- it's only hope, I think. My "bests" are usually realized over time or after they've been lost.
