If I'm not careful, I tend to lash out when I'm angry. Most of the time I'm quiet, but I can get ugly. I'm good at hurting people when I want to, so most of the time I just lurk when I'm having a bad day. But I do come onto Lit as a way to get away from it all.

Hmmm... I'll always look in, no matter what my mood because you never know what you'll find. Some days I'm bubbly but then everyone else is away or not saying much, then other days it's quite the reverse and I'll find myself laughing out loud when I least expect it.
Maybe Lit is like a weird housemate, with multiple personalities and strange sexual deviances, so you're never sure what mood you're going to find?

Lit is pure escapism for me, so I come here to feed that, and it comes in especially handy when I've had a not-so-great day.
But, there are times I get too annoyed with things here, and just turn to another guilty pleasure.

It's not one or the other. I've found that at times, Lit can be very uplifting...(yeah yeah, pun both intended and not
)I have friends here, and sometimes I come here just looking for someone to vent to, complain at, and I find someone, and I go away feeling better.
Sometimes I come to escape the shit that's bothering me, by just bantering, flirting, laughing (and I love MacDaddy's funny pics thread for that...sometimes I'll just come to look at that).
But sometimes I'm a bad mood and I just stay away. Because I won't feel better here.
The trick is to know which mood is which.
And I don't always. *shrugs*
Oh, and sometimes I come here just to look at naked women.

Cryptic posts. Some threads are practically designed for them, Dear X and Dear Litster, but why do you decide to go cryptic when you do? Is it the partial public acknowledge that drives it? Wouldn't a PM work, too? And as readers of cryptic posts, does it bother you to not be in the know?

it does not usually bother me to not know. .lol. The funny ones are cute, and I believe designed to be "public" for their flirty nature.
The rude ones? I liken them to blurts. . A way to get something out of your system and address someone else while at the same time reducing the likelihood of retaliation because you haven't directly called them out.
I've written a few of those about asshats And trolls.
Oh yeah! When you see a really odd thread? Those will go in the cryptic threads. ..too.

In response to the original question: No, I never particularly like those threads. Imagine you and 100 other people are sitting in the same room, and 1 person walks in, and you all know this person to varying degrees. Some of you in passing, some of you on a friend level, some of you more intimately. And imagine that when that person walks into the room, he/she just yells out: 'hey, fuck you! I don't ever want to speak to you again!' Know what the immediate response will be? The casual acquaintances will be puzzled, the friends will be concerned and start to think about what they've done wrong, and the more personal people will probably get up and go to him/her.
But Lit has more than 100 people on it.
It's very frustrating, and I never did like it. Because if it wasn't you and you send a PM asking anyway, the results can range from a flustered 'no, it wasn't you,' to 'don't fucking talk to me right now.' And if it was you, then, well... Doesn't really make sense to call you out in front of everyone, unless it's for effect.
It doesn't bother me not to be in the know, but when it's possible that it's directed at me, then... *shrug* Never very fun.
