There are very few people with whom I can be completely open and holding back is my norm. I can say that when I do open up with a friend I form a very strong bond - it's like they become a superfriend. It may be the same with love - I hope so.

I see such a lot of hurt when lovers split up and it hurts me when i can see both sides and I wonder why they can't stay friends afterward. How can you let someone in your bed when you're not already very close friends? Maybe I'm just being naive but I couldn't do that.

I value friendship very highly and it is not something I call someone lightly. Having said that, the Brit and I were not friends before we became involved. We were combustible from the very second we met. I am always careful in my life and I usually think a lot before I act. My husband would give an amen to that. He constantly tells me to stop aiming and just shoot! However, the Brit and I are dear friends now. We have several things in common and the love along with the like will always be there. :)

I wonder about that too. I guess it depends on expectations and if the relationship was a healthy one.

lol..I try to be drama-free...honest.. I think my queries bring out the defensive in some, though its not intended.

Take, for instance, my undergraduate degree. .Religious Studies..undertaken not because of some divine calling, believe me. Rather, I chose it because my firm belief is if you understand a person's religious/spiritual beliefs(or absence thereof) you have a good shot at understanding the person. I know..hokey, and a bit overly academic, but it's what I was/am good at.

Same thing about sexual preferences/kinks etc. There's something new and exciting about a person when you've peeled back and tried to understand the layers that make up their deepest, darkest secrets. I simply approach a great many things from a research perspective. I can make sense of things when I have facts, opinions, examples placed in front of me.

Apparently, it's not appreciated.
:D

So why.... when an intelligent, witty, sexy, funny as hell Litster starts a really interesting thread, that has tons of contributors....gets no Lit Babes clawing down his door...what gives?
Too much thought and not enough shmexy?;)

Maybe they reinforce the door and have secret passwords

Fact on Lit? What are all these facts that you compile on Lit? You have access to people's inboxes, emails, phones, personal lives on and off the computer and so on?

Cause if not then they are assumptions.

I have a degree in social work but I have taken a lot of religious classes. I did it to better work with my clients and because I find it a fascinating subject.

I'll lighten the mood around here with the next topic:

What makes someone one of your favorite posters. Not someone you are playing or involved with, and no naming names, but we all have a favorite posters; what makes them so good.

Posters that make me laugh and intrigue me.

I have fav posters that ALWAYS bring a snortgiggle, others because of their insight, a select few have an eclectic way with words that draws me back again&again...

Same as what's been said. The people that are funny and bring humor to their posts. There are several people I see post, that just don't seem to know how to say a bad thing, and will talk to anyone and everyone. I like them. Even if they seem to be old timers, they are open and friendly to everyone.

Not naming names but there are several posters on this thread that I enjoy.

;)

What others said. I cannot add to it or subtract. Just here to have fun!

Some of my favorite posters are here. I know i can always come here ..lurk and have a good gigglesnort

Hmm... I'm finding it difficult to define this.

As well as the obvious points (poster is thoughtful, witty, wonderfully expressive etc.), there's an 'X' factor where I see a poster express something in an unusual way that resonates with me, and I find myself curious about how like-minded in other ways they might be. That often prompts me to browse their profile and past postings to see whether those validate my impression; if so, then I tend to pay special attention to their future postings.

It's not necessarily a profound statement that hooks me, though. Sometimes a silly comment does the trick when it makes me laugh unexpectedly and I realise that I'm on the same wavelength as the poster. It's a bit like real life in that respect. :)
