Hi. Just introducing myself, finally found my way over from the nano boards. My name over there is mijitmight. I am at 16597 words as of yesterday. My story wasn't going to be smut but my characters told me they wanted it that way and my friends that have read say I am good at smut, so I thought I may as well enter the world I've been longing to join (apparently) :p

Lo Frogprincess, welcome to the madhouse, or should that be smut-house:D Funny how characters take over isn't it:devil:

Hey Dingus mate, NO hang on in there if you can, take a day or two off and settle your brain.... but if you really think it not for you after that, good luck to you with the other story, and at least you took part mate, you had the guts to try:)

Thanks for the encouragement, but I had the whole week off and I managed only 2,000 words for the week. Now I am 10,000 words behind and that isn't too good. I was planning to be over by 10,000 words by the end of this week which was today and yet I was totally unmotivated to write. Sometimes you got it, sometimes you don't.

Dingus well you gave it a go eh? but I think if you feel it's not worth carrying on you'll never find the motivation TOO carry on *smiles* You cna always just keep writing it at your own pace though :)

Dingus,

NaNoWriMo doesn't care WHAT you write or even that it makes sense. You could end up with a pile of dross that you can trawl through later for nuggets.

If you are writing for the Winter Holiday Contest the words written for that count too - they were written in November.

I'm adding my contest entries to my slow moving Nano project. It might end up as a set of stories on different themes but if I reach 50,000 I'll still have completed NaNo.

Although it is supposed to be a 'novel' in reality no novel is that short. A set of short stories or even scenes might be the basis for a novel later on. NaNo is about quantity, not quality, unless you are a maschocist.

Just out of curiosity, where should one be today to be on schedule?

with 1666 words/day (50k/30 days), a bit over 18300 should be where we are.

Me: 14200

Got some work to do...
The only problem is: I'v got real work to do too.
Buggah.

Well, if all things fails, I already have two good erotic stories for Lit that I can extract from the rubble. :)

Liar -you'll get there love, when real life intervenes there is little you can do about it really.

EL is crawling along today but I am up to 21 100 so I'm feeling good :) I like being a teensy bit ahead. makes me feel like i've got a procrastination pillow!!

Broke 30,000 this week. The story's coming along nicely, except that I still am not sure where it's going. Well, but I'm having fun.

Today, I'm taking the afternoon off from my NaNo to work on some other stuff.

well doone sabledrake :)

22 000 and odd and I've spent the last couple of hours procrastinating. time to get on with it methinks!

*WORD COUNT UPDATE*

I'll be doing it in about 20 mins or so.

Cheers!

Words written today: 0 so far.

My mind is totally filled with other things, like dates and men and finding a new job and dates and men and ... and ...

  :D

I have been enjoying the new extracts though.

Hey sweetheart, how about a date:devil: :D :rose:

19,870 words as of 10 minutes ago.

Hi Pops,

I love dates, but I'm afraid it will get too complicated.
I'm having trouble in juggling dates with the current four guys.

  :D

Did some sublimation, my word count is up to 21044 right now. Just stopped writing.

Don't give up dingus. Inspiration may strike and you can make up a lot of ground in one good session. I kicked over 10K words the first day. Just take it in a relaxed way and if it comes run with it, if not, at least you tried, but it's too early to give up entierly hun

Og

you know, that's a great idea. I didn't think I was going to have time for writing a holiday story. I guess I'm just going to have to move the story up a bit. (or have another flashback!)

thanks ogg!

might be just the thing to recharge this draggin' ass writer up!

My excerpt from my Nano novel entitled Zoe is posted on lit. haven't changed it any from the post on this thread (other than to run a spell check) but if anyone wants to vote or comment, here's the link:

Zoe

After the second day or so when people were starting to say how much they hated there stories, or hated writing it or whatever, I remember thinking (and almost posting) that I didn't hate my story like everyone else seemed to.

whatever stopped me, I'm quite thankful (even though I just gave my self away) for now it seems altogether arrogant.

yesterday I didn't get a chance to write. Today I've written 3,389. And I hatemy story and I hatewriting it!

I just keep reminding myself, write it, doesn't matter if it's crap, just write it. you've got to write the crap to get to the good stuff.

oh but i hate it! It's torture!!!! There's no way I'm giving up though. Even if I fall a little bit behind- or a lot. I'm going to go to the end (assuming my house doesn't burn down around me from neglect) and at least see how *close* I can get.

but I'm still -for now- trying to make the goal. with the idea of writing a Holiday flashback, I feel a bit more energized. But it might not be all that good, because I won't have much time for revisions. (on the other hand, Zoe's not doing to bad. And as I said, all I did was run a spell check.)

I do think that my novel had some good things to say in the begining. And I think that it may in the end, have been worth writing. Oh but the process sucks when you don't want to do it but you make yourself do it.

I think it's one of those things that are 'good for you';)

Cool article, says a lot about the philosophy behind NaNoWriMo. Thanks, Perdita.

Lou

Thanks Perdita,

That was an interesting article.

Back to the keyboard in a few minutes. Haven't written anything yet today.

:D

"Not all writers no why there story has happened until after they've writen there first draft"

I just read that in a book I have called "so you want to write a novel"

It's a good thing to remember when your sure that what you are writing has no point and is total crap.

At least, I find it encouraging. I hope you do to.
