Although I am nowhere near hitting 50K, I did get a solid structure laid down and a story approaching 30K in my first shot at this...and my story is only halfway. I didn't think it had legs to go 50K but I was wrong...

very proud of all the winners, especially now that I know what it is like...and I am including Logo in that, you go girl! You can do it!

Hey Bele, If I can do it, anyone can do it. Almost 68,000 words now and still writing.

I finished at 45,601 for the night.
That leaves me with just 4399 to get to 50,000.
It finally seems like this thing is possible.

As I'm heading into a really dark and (dare I say it) depressing part of my story, I find myself feeling like I don't want to put my characters through all this trauma. The trauma, the drama, the climax are what the whole story is about, but still. I love them. I don't want them to suffer. So this morning's quote is kind of about that...

"Write what disturbs you, what you fear,
what you have not been willing to speak about.
Now, be willing to be split open."

Where is every one else at on their stories?
How close to 50,000 are you all?
If you make your 50K, will you be done with the story?

Last night I got to 41,209, so I suppose I may make it to 50k for the NaNo win, if my brain goes into creative overdrive for today and tomorrow. But my novel will be far from complete at 50k. I'm going to force myself to write the ending, so the story arc will be complete, but there are many scenes left to flesh out.

I'm right with you on facing up to putting my characters and myself through an emotional wringer, including allowing my MC to die, probably while the guy who loves her watches. Oh, the trauma.

Thanks for the quote--very apropos.

Crim - you've written close to 30,000 words in a month while raising four kids. That's amazing. Pat yourself on the back, girl!

Thanks Logo  I'm not giving up, I just don't think I can write 10,000 words a day to get it finished. Hmm... maybe if I pull an all nighter...

Hey Crim...I'll send my little sister over to watch your kids...You can do it :nana: :nana:

Stuck
Stuck
Stuck

Sophie (god I love her) says that I'm psyching myself out cause I'm close to the end.
I just need to get on a good role.

Grrr.
I hate this feeling of mental constipation!

LOL, is she going to do the laundry too? (you should see the mountain of clothes I have piled up on my couch to be folded and put away)

44.385... only 5.615 words left - but I'm running out of story! The race is over, she has talked to the king, and all that's left now is for them to pack their bags and start the long walk into the sunset. Am I going to write 5.000 words about a friggin' sunset????????

Surely, the time it takes for a woman to pack, you can write 5,000 words about that...

Seriously, I'm awed Svenska, last I heard you were way behind so great work girl

:p

LOTS of hard work... that's the trick.

Oh, and microwave dinners. My dirty dishes have rown into a society of lutherans, just like in that Simpsons-episode.

And if I next year say anything about writing my story by hand or not getting any inspiration if I write on a computer, knock me over the head with something soft! I've just learned how to get a little pop-up window in Word that shows my wordcount as I go along, and it's incredibly inspiring to see that wordocunt grow with a couple of 100 words each time I press the RECOUNT-button. I love Office 2003! Gotta upgrade my own version!!!

Oh! Svenska. I've got Office 2000. Can I do that too? I need it! I need it!

Cool... how do you do that? I have word 2003.

Not gotten that far yet... 32 713 now. I have two lessons to prepare and teach for Thursday... argh. Not now, I'm writing damnit!

I really need to stop correcting all my spelling mistakes as I go. It takes up so much time, but I can't help it, it's compulsive.

OK, the PMS and emotional fatigue are driving me to bed.
I've reached 47,670.
That should be easy striking distance tomorrow. Fingers crossed that no one goes into labor tonight. I really want to finish this!

G'night all!

Hmm. 33 563 and I'm going to bed.

Putting both of my stories together, I've actually written the 50k this month. Does that count a little bit?

I'm making a note to call Logo tomorrow and make sure she is writing...I'll have to come up with some juicy secret that I refuse to tell her until I see the 50K in my inbox or something...

I've got her taken care of. :)

Meaning she's writing again or that you've already agreed to bug her?

...and we could share...she's easily inspiring enough...I'm gonna remember the sunlight and silhouette for the rest of my damn life...

...minds out of the gutters AH'ers ( but just for a moment)...never did anything about it...just really wanted to :D

Yes, Jen. You can copy and paste them both into a document and submit them. I know other people have done the same thing.

Way to go, writing 50K! That totally rocks! :nana:

You two!

I've cancelled my acupuncture today and am going to sit and pound out my 2300 words first thing. I swear. I really mean it.

I hope.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll do it, then you can treat yourself to the acupuncture (how the hell can having needles stuck in you be classed as a treat? *shudder* ) and not have to worry about anything.
