Long Distance Relationships

From your profile you sound like you have a lot to offer. If he does not see that plus the giving ,longing for attention then it sure is nothing you have done. You are in the most wonderful country I have ever been and their is so much to see and do with the great poeple I'm sure things will work out, also know from past experience that is easier said than done ,but hang in there you have more friends than you think

It's for everybody. But don't think about it. You are going to say "Hello" And can you imagine a greater word than that "Hello". That very one, the first eyes to eyes, hand to hand. All the firsts, You are going to map a new continent.
For me all the Hellos had worth they goodbyes.

Thanks Scrymettet! Yes, it helps to try and stay "in the moment", and we already say "aloha" rather than that dreaded "G" word whenever we sign off from each other! That first "eye to eye" must really be a special moment!

Each LDR has different circumstances and being aware of the other commitments that each person brings into this relationship should be clear at the beginning. I feel fortunate that both Oman and I are single, but we realize that each of us have had different experiences in our past which may or may not affect the way we view our situation. Only time will tell, but through the wonders of technology, we have been able to talk at length about anything and everything which I feel is lifting most of my personal "baggage".

Shazz... a good sense of humor definitely is a plus too! (I'm already picking up some of Oman's expressions! Dang it!!):D

Good to hear from you again, Tiger. I have already realized that an LDR takes a lot of work from each participant, and there will be times when that unexpected emotion (not wanting to let go!) sneaks in for a "bite". I feel it's wonderful to have so many ways to keep in touch, and it's well worth the effort to do so. (Again, thinking of Shazz, I'm thankful Oman and I are "free" to be in touch without worrying about hurting other loved ones.) Waiting is hard!

Thanks for all your contributions to this thread! To be continued...

LDR! With webphone and video the internet allows us to reach across the globe to "share" with our loved ones.

Hurray for technology!!

Now--if I could just get this technology to work!

The Countdown Begins

Plane reserverations are made, and as of today, Saturday, January 19th, Oman will be arriving in NYC in 21 days! Face to face and hand in hand at last! There's still a lot to be done, but that will only make time more precious.

Any other LDRs who experienced already their first "togetherness" know exactly what we're going through right now.

For those who have yet to meet in the flesh, don't give up. This relationship has already given me more than I ever expected. Never take anything for granted, but I'm more certain than before that these things are meant to happen, even if people are separated by distance. Listen to your heart.:)

Wonderful

Oh Jenny...

I am soooo happy for you two. How wonderful!!
This is your first ever meeting, right? I can imagine how special that will be...all your dreams and desires and frustrations and loneliness being resolved and culminating in this one moment!

I know it will be nothing short of magical!! I too know that there would still be alot of work to be done, any relationship is hard work...but I think after living in an LDR for so long anything else might seem a bit easier...this is a long road to travel.

These kinds of relationships teach us to never take anything for granted...to make each moment together count.
I know you two will make it!!!

All my warmest wishes and thoughts will be with the two of you, Jenny and Oman.

espressolover:)

What I have found is that you just have to work a lot harder at long distance relationships.
The first thing I learnt is that so much of the communication that you take for granted face to face has to be reinvented over a long distance.
What I do is take ten minutes everyday to sit down and write an e-mail about anything that has happened, thoughts , funny things, my dog just chatter really. I also call every morning to say wake up- this can lead to rather hot chats which are fun.
I also rediscovered the art of writing letters which are great fun both to write and recieve. The last thing that I do is collect stuff, bar mats, city maps and allsorts of junk which I send with funny notes- once sent a bathroom towel!

Oh thats wonderful,Jenny!

I cant wait till you two are together. I have bought my first plane ticket and will be seeing tiger in Febuary in his area. Scares the crap out of me, as I have never flown. ;)

It can be wonderful.
It takes work, treat it like a marathon. There will be stretches of boringness. There will be times of total joy. I am in my fifth year with a woman I have never met I have wept, gone to the airport to get on a plane, cybersexed, phoned and shared so much. I never regret it for a moment
Good luck, rememeber to work on it

hugs jenny i was just in the tub i said hello to oman but i dont think he was there in spirt at all when you see him tell him i said hi.. 20 days and counting down with jenny and oman grin:p

Now do you want me to stick around or not? That is of course if you can put it on before I tie you to the bed and take out the feather.

Now honey,

You know as well as I, that if you pull out that feather,I get the spanking too.
