Long Distance Relationships

whispering to my ldr,my s/o,my love.the holder of my heart., I love you, darling. I cant wait until february when i can hold you in my arms and touch you like you have touched my heart.
Oh, my darling....
I count the minutes until you are here with me! I love you.:)

I am currently involved in a long distance relationship. It has lasted for over three years, even though we had ended it at one point because I did not have faith. well, we are back and although I must tell you it is difficult, it is worth it.

I takes a lot of commitment and trust, but it also takes a large does of realism. In our situation we have an agreement to have other playmates, provided we follow the rule of safe sex, and no lies. I do not care for details, and I know he does not care for any either.

We also allow each other the space to do what is needed. We have committed ourselves to visiting each other, as own as we can, but finances are a problem. And last, we have put a deadline on our distance. We will endure, but we do know that we wil have to make a decision before the end of 2002. We are also realistic and acknowledge that we may fall in love with others. But that could happen if we were in the same room, lol!

The real good news is that we are best friends, whatever happens he knows I will always be there for him. And no other woman can take that away. No other man can take his friendship from me. He and I are family and anyone else we deal with will have to understand that. We have a history, we have a past. Now whether we have a future, who knows? I

have just returned from spending two weeks with him which was a most stressful visit. He and I were sick and not at our best, but we came out of it still loving each other. There are no guarantees in any relationship. But if the two people involved want to be together, they will be.

Good luck to you.

Thank you LittleDevil and Ebonyfire for sharing your experiences.

Honesty, trust and communication seem to be the major factors in allowing a long distance love to continue. It's an ongoing experience, but I too believe that it's worth it, and the more you put into it, the more you receive back!

I find it comforting to know that so many LDR's are still working at it, and I wish all of us continued happiness! I'm about a month away from meeting my Oman face-to-face! No expectations, although my heart is racing to actually be able to reach out and touch the man I have fallen in love with.:)

Hello all,

I am back from my week end. I am assuming tiger has landed and will be home soon.

It was a magical week end. We did things that we didnt do the first week end we met and we got to know each other more this time,if that is possible. I wont get into too many details, but I am so tired and sore. You can take that anyway you'd like. ;)

He met my children, and it went well. We took the kids to lunch and saw a movie. They liked him, which was a big worry for me. What kind of future would there have been if there were problems between the kids and him?

Emotionally,it killed me to see him leave. One day I will not have to watch him leave me. That part hurts me so much its a physical pain. I also had this slight problem driving home, but other than that all went well.

My thoughts are now to get through the next 2 months till he can come back. It will be awhile, and I understand that, but the wait will be hard.

So the moral to this story? I loved being with him and it is worth everything that I will go through until we are together.

Welcome back LTR!

The time seemed to go so quickly from this end! I'm so glad that the "meeting" went so well with your kids. That is a big step, and must have lifted a lot of weight off your mind when it worked out so well!

I know how hard it is already for me to "hang up" from Oman; I can just imagine how rough it will be when our actual meeting is over! But taking each minute and day one at a time is a big help, and keeping busy the times we're apart, helps to keep things in a good perspective and makes the away time move a bit easier.

It's kinda good that he has headed home when he did as we're finally expecting ice and snow overnight here in NYC and surrounding areas.

Thanks so much for sharing with us, and I like the moral to your tale!:)

experience

I love to share this with you about LDR. We met in Africa. She was living in North America and I was living In Europe. After 4 years of LDR, she tried Europe But didn't like it. I send her back to America and started my immigration process. 1 and 1/2 year later I moved to live again with her. (To make it short. Complete story available on request). So here are the advices :

When leaving, plan the next meeting
Choose an Air carrier and enroll the frequent flyer program
Lingerie is cheap to mail

But you can work it out, I am sure that you all will make it.
Love and dreams make the world go round.

Welcome back Tiger!

I am so glad this weekend worked out for you and LTR. Your love for each other is so obvious, and I have no doubt that you two will work through all the upcoming challenges. (Although I'm sure she's not too thrilled with the new straw trick!):D

Thanks for sharing your story Scrymettet! Please feel free to either post or pm your complete story! I have had feedback from many non-posters that reading our stories provides insight, warnings, joy and comfort to others involved with LDRs.

I agree with you about saying "goodbye". Yes, look ahead and enjoy every hour that you'll still be connected, and plan on the next real life get-together.

Hope the wait for you, Tiger, goes quickly and enjoyably.

Almost countdown time

Well, it's not an official countdown yet, but I should finally be face-to-face with Oman in about a month!

It's been pretty exciting, and now the arrangements just need to be finalized.

Happy and excited!:D

dearest jenny, i am starting to countdown ,not only thre days but the hours and somewhat the minutes to we are together,I cant wait to the second you are in my arms and i can show you my love for you.finally we will know we are each others perfect type without typing. i love you and our meeting i know will change my life.

Trust is the hardest issue to deal with in long distance relationships, I think. At least it was like that for me, but that's because my ex has a way of compartmentalizing everyone in his life and keeping secrets. But we were together, and very strongly, for over two years in a long distance relationship, and the reasons we broke up had nothing to do with us being apart geographically, it had more to do with who we ended up becoming.

But while we were together, we spoke for hours everyday on icq and phoned (and had phone sex) 3 or 4 times a week, so as far as BEING together, we had that. We were also involved in the same activites online (games and whatnot), so that gave us even more that we could share..and that's really important...having something the two of you can share, not just things you can talk about.

I do have friends that have met someone special online and had long distance relationships with that did work out. Some of them are married now, and some living together, so it IS possible. I wish you luck in yours :)

Re: Thank you Tiger.............

Yes, Tiger, I join Shazz in thanking you for your good wishes and always welcome advice regarding the "wait"! I am already cherishing each hour of every day and working hard in getting my every day life in order, knowing that time is precious and that February will indeed be here soon enough. I thank both you and LTR for sharing such meaningful and personal feelings with us, and your good wishes are most appreciated.

Good to meet you WhiteRose, and thank you as well for your thoughts and wishes. As our relationship has grown it is more apparent how much we already know about each other; I've shared more of myself with Oman than I ever had already with anyone else. Trust and honesty are so vital. Now we just need to physically touch and be with each other to make it all complete.

(edited out) Sharing is so comfortable and rewarding, and I again wish you both the best through the difficult times, and hope your next meeting comes quickly as well.

Oman, you have already changed my life in so many ways! I am thankful and honored that "we" picked each other at this stage of our lives. I love you!:)

That is the worst part. Leaving. I did not cryuntil the plane was on the tarmac. And I do not know when we can be together again. It may be at least three months o rmore. That is bad too. I am out of vacatin, andheis still a new employee.

Long distance Master......making it work

I am a new sub(missive), so this long distance thing is hard for me as i am in Australia and my Master is not, so it make things harder as i must be true to him over a distance but im getting there.

Shazz, you answered a question I was going to post regarding the time AFTER the first meeting! My own thoughts mirrored yours as I can image conjuring up the sensations we encounter during his visit. It is still amazing to me the degree of feelings shared even through the distance of space. As I first wrote much earlier in this thread, and in the earliest days of our LDR relationship, the "worst" that will happen is that we continue to be confidants and friends.

Saying any kind of "goodbye" has always been hard for me (in fact I try not to even use the word at all!). If you can keep the communication going, Ebonyfire, time will march on and you'll find yourself together again soon.

Welcome Dragon13! I'm not well informed on the Dom/Sub lifestyle, and distance in your instance may prove to be a major problem. Communication, honesty and trust, as in any type of relationship, seem so very important with an LDR. All the best!

goodbye

It's for everybody. But don't think about it. You are going to say "Hello" And can you imagine a greater word than that "Hello". That very one, the first eyes to eyes, hand to hand. All the firsts, You are going to map a new continent.

For me all the Hellos had worth they goodbyes.

I was involved in a long distanced relationship about 10 years ago and now we have been married fgor 6 years.
