Long Distance Relationships

What a question.... It's a tough one
Having been in that boat several times I would advise against it in the long run unless you want to do something more permanent in the long haul. Otherwise the phone bills are oft more than an airline ticket and it becomes very tedious. Subbtle nuances take on meanings never intended and there are always the immediate emotional needs that have to be met by both parties. But good luck if you want to try.

OK slick not sure what you are posting to hun but talking of LDR's and phone bills here's a fix. You both get a voice chat progam all of the major ones handle voice now, msn, yahoo, and aol. Buy a headset for $10-15 and eliminate the phone bills.

Doesn't matter what country they are in there are no phone charges involved. I have talked to people in Europe and Hawaii in this way and it's great! If you need help or more info on this send me a pm. Incidently a friend from Syd's hot tub set up a private voice chat room earlier today so that 4 of us could go and talk to each other at the same time and we all could hear.

So unless money is no object save that money for the plain ticket and use the technology now available!

Though for those times you have to be on the phone if they are in the same country cell phones with free minutes and phone cards which are also cheaper for overseas calls too!

Aye the Voice over Ip stuff is great.... Sam and I have only spoken a few times over the Phone. Think we've spent more time talking over the Headsets.... And part of the reason fer the Phone calls was the fact that I was remotely rebuilding her Computer Lol....

I loves my techie!! He's too good to me. Got me out of more binds than I can remember.....

Well, I have not had a goods start to the day... Daylight saving has put us another hour apart... our schedules are shot to pieces at the moment... you would not think 1 hour would make that much difference... it does!

We have hit a rough patch at the moment... I can sense the hesitation in her again. I know, big move for her... leaving everything she knows to come to someone she has never met face to face.

If you good people can just let me indulge here... I will list some of the differences between Heth living in the US and Heth living in OZ.

Her family is in the US, she knows no one in OZ.
Even though we both speak English, in OZ we use a lot of slang...
The money looks different, different coins...
we have 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent, 1 dollar and 2 dollar coins...
WE drive on the correct side of the road.... the left hand side.
The driver sits on the right hand side of the car...
we have winter in June, Bloody hot at Christmas
Here she will be the odd one out... SHE will have the accent in her voice.
I will be the only person she knows...


Hence I do see her fear, I feel it... it is just very hard to deal with sometimes... today... the plan was to clear out her things she has in storage, sort them out and sell what she could (sell them at a later date). But no... a friend she sees everyday asks her to go shopping.... YEP... I might be jealous... shopping can be done anyday... when is the organising getting done to come here? I'm not doing well today... sorry about the rant,

Adjustment is important, so don't worry as much about the cleaning up!! You'll feel better soon as you two get to "lounge around" a bit!

T.C... you are an incredibly understanding and thoughtful guy. You seem to fully understand all that she's going through, and it certainly is a big move for her both physically and emotionally.

I know how I get as events are approaching!! Maybe she needs a little "diversion" to ease her tensions. It doesn't mean she loves you any less!

Of course, I feel like the "lucky one" in our relationship! Things do manage to work out for the best, and we're both keeping our minds open as far as the possibilities of getting together are concerned. It's sometimes hard to be patient, and not to get too overwhelmed about things that need to be taken care of!

Thanks for sharing your feelings. You are NOT alone with them as we all travel through the emotional ups and downs of being in love this way!
