Long Distance Relationships

Hang in there Top Cat. We have all hit bumps in the road in our relationships. If it was all just lovey dovey all the time it wouldn't be real. So just take a deep breath and try and work through this.

Sorry to hear that, T.C. Sending good wishes for your phone call tonight with your loved one.

To Jenny and Oman:

Good luck to you both! It sounds like you guys are aware of the pitfalls and rewards of an LDR. You even know that meeting is an integral part of making your relationship work.

In another thread, I touched on an online love, remember Jenny? He and I lived in the same state, just 300 miles apart. I sometimes wish that I had the presence of mind to take it for what it is. He was married and I wanted more. We tried to make it work for three years, but because of my desire for more than what he can give me - it failed. We couldn't manage it and we had to walk away. He still calls me and sent me a present for my birthday, which tells me that he wants to be in my life. But I'm the one that can't manage the what seems to be platonic feelings he has for me. Either that or I'm too afraid to ask how he feels about me.

I'm hoping that someday, I'll be able to work through my feelings and be able to handle a friendship with him. He was my best friend and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him. He's always been honest with me regardless of what is going on. There are times when I wished he wasn't, but looking back now, I'm grateful that he was because he didn't have to. I wouldn't have known... if I could change it, I would. Maybe there's hope, maybe there isn't. But one thing is for sure, there's this big giant my guy's shaped hole in my heart.

Thanks for listening. :)

P.S. TopCat - hang in there. In an online/phone relationship, we only deal with emotions and every thing seems to be magnified. Hang in there, if you have been impacted by her this much... it's mutual.

Thank you for your good wishes, SXCRgirl:rose:

Yes, I do remember your indicating an "online love". From what you've written, you are definitely in touch with YOUR feelings, and it's good to hear he was honest with his. I was involved in an 8 year "offline" relationship. It started off well, but in time he told me that he didn't feel the same way I did, and for a while it was difficult for me since I cared for him so much. Time helps with these feelings, and he remains one of my best friends. (He even met Oman, and is sincerely very happy for us.)

Hopefully in time you also will be able to see that your friend really is there for you "as a friend", and you will be able to realize you can handle this new type of relationship with him (without those other passionate feelings)!:rose:

Thanks for posting!:rose:

TC my hopes and fingers are crossed for you. I know that things are probably pretty hectic for you right now what with worry and all. Hang inthere, hopefully things will get better.

PJS If things go well for Daeth and me, like we think they will, I'll be making the canada move. It'll mean some restrictions on what I do for a while when I first move there but we've discussed that already (and we've not yet met in person). Gods I hope everything is alright with him, he was sick last night and I've not heard from him today, but if he was able to go to work today he should be home in just under three hours.

Jenny do you have a hug for me?

OK he will be here in less than an hour. Suprised him and hot manicure and pedicure and his favorite cinnamon rolls from the mall. Also had the eyebrows done and dinner is ready!!

Woohoo Hat! Good luck and enjoy yourself. Let Marty take care of you! :)

OK he will be here in 8 minutes. I should go cut the meat everything else is ready!

T.C. Sorry things aren't going well for you. Hang in there, and keep in touch. We all go through bad times as well as the good ones.

Also thinking about LTR and her Tiger! Hope things are going very well with your big move!:rose:

Special thoughts for Smiley too! Hope things are well.:rose:

Hello everyone!

Phew...what a week! I am sorry I have not checked in for so long. Work has been crazy...and I have started taking a class on the side in order to expand my skills...anywho, its been busy..and I apologize.

I hope you are all doing great...sounds like things are getting really exciting for some of our couples...I think that is fabulous. Hatara I hope everything goes great...my best wishes go out to you.

Well....my love went back home about a week ago. I never did get to share about her trip..so I thought I would just tell a little bit. We had a wonderful time....hehe, that was easy...no but really...it was great.

We spent one whole day in San Francisco...I got to show her the Pacific Ocean for the first time in her life...we ate seafood on the wharf...went shopping..all the while walking hand-in-hand together. That was our one main "outing"...we spent most of our time cuddled up together talking....or watching movies that one person loved and the other had never seen before. Also had many late nights just laying in bed....heads rested together...finding new things to share and discover about each other.

I need to practice driving while holding her hand...especially with a stick shift, this is problamatic....but I am getting better...I only think I hit 3 trees during her visit. :D

And, even though her visit had to end...we both agreed we are much stronger for it. I feel better than I have in a long time...more sure of the future.....my happiness in general is much increased. Now if only we were together permenently....things would be great! But...it gives us something to work on...while we are also working on ourselves.

I hope you are all doing great. My best wishes to everyone. Take care.

Good to hear from you, Smiley!:rose:

Your visit sounds wonderful, and the "glow" of it all will last for awhile. It also makes corresponding with her now even more exciting! I'm so happy for the two of you.

Then there comes the "down" time!! I'm skidding over it a bit lately (as is Oman), and it's not helping that we cannot yet set an actual date for getting together again. BOTH of us need to look for employment, and we each have tons of things to handle before either of us can "get away". It's terribly frustrating, and a big pull on my patience, but it's rather a new experience looking at life as a "couple" rather than being burdened all alone with each problem.

Thanks for stopping by!:rose:

Jenny,
It is nice thinking about being part of a couple, my ex thought that a burden... oh well...

I greet each day with a smile knowing I am back in a relationship... be it a LDR....

Hope you and Oman can sort things out... maybe the jobs could be a blessing in disguise...

I sound all positive, the last phone call was a disaster!!! Very rocky times right now...

Hat. I know I'm too late, but my thoughts are with you and Marty... :rose:

Thanks to Lady_sam and Jenny for your words of encouragement and support... I feel apart of a big family here.

Thanks, T.C. I enjoy every encouraging word I can get! Deep down I know things will be fine; it's just my impatience that's making things so tough right now for me.

I'm very sorry about your situation. Keep talking!! That's so terribly important, even if the outlook appears grim. Silence is dangerous.

Wishing you all the best! Take care.:rose:

Thanks TC for your good wishes. LOL so far so good!!;)

TC just for the record is this her first visit to you or is she moving there permanently. If it's both if I were her I would be scared to death to say the very least! Hang in there! :rose: :rose:

Glad to hear it's going good, Hat! How long will this visit be?

Enjoy:rose:

Enjoy! Hat

You are the envy of LDRs everywhere. I can hardly stand the wait! I need to keep really busy, so as not to dwell on the distance.

I need to focus on the time we find to communicate!

Jenny - Keep your spirits up, it is bound to get better. I know how it is!

Top Cat- Just keep reassuring her of your love and let her work it out. I know it is hard, but there are some things that we cannot help our loved ones get through no matter how hard we may try.

Hi Ebony:rose:

Focus is important! It's really an effort to face one day at a time (especially with something so exciting ahead of you!). Some days go better than others. The wait is certainly worth it!:rose:

Sigh...

I need to know if any others are having this problem here....does anyone else have massive communcation failure because of the lack of face to face talking? So much can be inferred with body language and inflection........how do you get around this.

I guess I just want this thing between Sxychick and I to go off seamlessly and it's rough to not be face to face.

Any suggestions folks?

Daeth and I have had those occasional misunderstandings due to the medium. But we are always both very careful to make sure if we've understood right. It makes it easier as does talking with the mic and the vid cam (though his keeps crashing).

I want to be face to face with Daeth, we both do, but we've only been able to set a month with an uncertain date in the second week of Aug (could be later depending on drive time)

Just keep talking hun, and realize that even being face to face things are not always seamless.
