First, Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there...We all know you deserve a special day even if we don't always show our appreciation :kiss:

We are having my in-laws in for Mother's Day and in a weaker moment I offered for the men to take care of the food. Mind you, my mother in law expects nothing less than a sit down meal, complete with all food groups...

We will be eating aorund 1:00 in order for everyone to get to other mom's day festivities

I love to cook, even love grilling more....I don't do it often enough to be intuitive about what goes with what or what substiutions can be made in a recipe.

So far I have, chicken breasts grilled, thinking of some sort of lemon chicken...sit down dinner for 9-10...brother in law bringing dessert...something to do with rhubarb

I'm looking for suggestions....

- recipe for lemon or lime grilled chicken breasts
- 1-2 salads to go with the chicken breasts
- vegetable...thinking broccoli and cheese but open to ideas
- should have a potato dish, but would be willing to make the in-laws suffer without one
- punch or slightly alcoholic beveragte to serve before the meal

:rolleyes::D;):kiss:

Potato salad and maybe a macaroni salad would go with the grilled idea. Maybe replace one with a cole slaw. It really depends on if you are eating outside.

What about some raw cut veggies and dip before the dinner?

I know its ..well its classic, if you wanna put a spin on it do some decorative ones to accent the sticks or whatnot.

But by far id have to say Conch salad would get me in a tizzy.....mmmm conch salad...only the islands have it...i do miss the bahamas for that much.

OOOH! Do sangria!!!
Get some sweet red wine, inexpensive jug of it cut up lemons limes and some oranges squeze some juice then let the fruit slices mull around in there. Set it overnight! OMIGOD!!
